Jeffery BaseyHOUSTON, TX – Jeffery Basey, 68, was already in jail facing indecency with a child charges when police say he hired a hit man to kill a witness in his case – his own wife.

According to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Basey hired the hit man not knowing he was actually an undercover police officer. Basey was to pay $50,000 in total, and gave the man $5,000 as downpayment on Dec 23.

Investigator’s say Basey’s sister is the one who delivered the money but do not believe she had any knowledge that it was to be used to ensure Basey’s wife, Golda Basey, was murdered.

Why would Basey be so desperate as to hire a hit man to kill his wife while he sat in jail? Probably because she is scheduled to testify against him in the child indecency case that has him sitting in jail in the first place.

Back in September 2014, Basey was charged with three counts of indecency with a child. A month earlier, his wife claimed she woke up to Basey standing near the end of the bed pointing a .38-caliber revolver at her.

He allegedly told her he couldn’t live without her and didn’t want a divorce. Basey ended up being charged with deadly conduct and his wife filed a protective order against him – an order he violated four days before the indecency charges were filed.

On top of the indecency charge, Basey is now facing a solicitation of capital murder charge.
