aimed handgunSTLOUIS, MO – Police say 26-year-old Becca Campbell may have accidentally shot herself in the head with a gun she just purchased to prepare for possible Ferguson-related trouble.

It happened on Friday night as Campbell was riding in a car driven by her 33-year-old boyfriend. The boyfriend would later tell police that they’d recently bought the gun in case shit went down over the grand jury’s decision on the shooting of Michael Brown.

He said that as he was driving, Campbell pulled out the gun and started waving it around in a joking manner, stating they were ready for Ferguson. The boyfriend said that as he ducked to get out of the way of the gun, he accidentally rear-ended another car.

The resulting collision caused Campbell to discharge the gun and shoot herself in the head, according to the boyfriend. Campbell was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police are still investigating the incident as they want to make sure that the boyfriend is telling the truth and that Campbell actually did nominate herself for a Darwin Award. They are currently waiting on gun trace results.

According to sources, Campbell was a known Ferguson protester and can be seen in a pic taken by Twitter user @phampel.
