RENO, NV – Police have charged 24-year-old Jason Brown with multiple counts of animal cruelty after they say he adopted five dogs only to kill and dismember them in his motel room.
Brown was arrested on July 9 after a manager of a Super 8 Motel called police to report some gruesome shit going down inside Brown’s motel room.
He told them that a maid went in the room to clean it, and found bloodstains, dog limbs, drugs and drug paraphernalia inside. The manager told police the maid contacted him, and he found a decapitated brown dog in the room’s bathtub.
While the manager waited for police to arrive, Brown returned but then fled before police got there. Arriving police would check out the room and found four decapitated dog heads inside a small refrigerator.
Two of the dogs were named Fernell and McGee, two Chihuahua mixes given to Brown by someone who used Craigslist to place the dogs up for adoption because they could no longer care for them.
Jason Brown was eventually apprehended and charged with five felony counts of willful torture of an animal and one count of possession of a controlled substance (meth). His bail has been set at $60,000.
A woman claiming to know Brown said hehad “urges of rage.” According to Huffington Post, she also said Brown told her last month that he’d killed a friend’s dog and that killing dogs was “good for now.”
Luckily this didn’t happen before 2011 when all Reno police would have been able to do is charge Brown with some misdemeanors.
The laws were changed after Raymond Rios adopted a dog from Craigslist then sliced the dog’s stomach open with a box cutter in a Reno motel and watched her die from shock and blood loss. This led to Cooney’s Law being passed in 2011, which allows police to charge people accused of animal cruelty with felony counts.Tags: Animal Cruelty, Crime, Drugs, Jason Brown, meth, Nevada
