Grandma with gunSHREVEPORT, LA  - Police say 16-year-old Devon Antonio pushed his luck too far when he decided to rob a 63-year-old woman a second time, and ended up dead after the woman shot him in the chest.

Police say the teen broke into the woman’s home carrying a shotgun and demanding money from her safe. The woman said she recognized Antonio as the same person who robbed her of some money and a gun just a few weeks prior.

She said she feared for her life because the teen was pointing a shotgun at her demanding money, and she knew her safe only contained around $55 dollars in coins.

“As I was unlocking the safe I prayed to God to give me strength, to get through this, it’ll be me or him,” she said.

It is said that God helps those who helps themselves, and this woman helped herself tremendously when she replaced the gun stolen previously and had made the decision to store it inside the safe. She removed the gun from the safe with one hand while taking the bag of coins with the other.

While handing Antonio teen the bag of coins, the teen lowered his gun to take it. That’s when the woman shot Antonio once in the chest.

“I said ‘here you go’, and he let go of one hand off his gun, because it was pointed right at me, and reached for the bag of coins, and that’s when I fired my gun, and hit him with the first round,” said the woman.

The teen ran from the home but was found a short distance away where he’d collapsed and died for $55. Police said they were able to confirm the woman’s story and link Antonio to the previous robbery at her home.

They do not plan on filing charges against the woman who said her heart goes out to Antonio’s family.

2 for 2. I am scared to read another story.

Granny’s got a gun…. (and now that song is stuck in my head for the rest of the day)

  • kcjosh

Love reading stories of people that decide they don’t want to be a victim.

  • Miss_Ann_thrope

I feel bad for grandma – although she should not feel guilty for blowing that little cocksucker away, I know she will feel terrible about it. I hope she can rest with a clear conscience.

  • Taxidermi

This reminds me of another story…some man tried to steal an old lady’s purse, but she ended up being a black belt in martial arts and kicked the living shit out of him.

I know, too many happy endings :-p it can’t be!

I hate it that there are so many young people with their whole lives in front of them that think it makes them a bad ass to choose crime as a means of getting what they want. Their actions often end up the way this kid’s did. I have a sixteen year old, so I can sympathize with his family, but then I also think if they were doing their job, he may not have felt that robbing little old ladies was an option. I think I feel the worst for the victim, because she has to live with killing him because of his own callousness and stupidity. Therefore, she’s sort of been victimized three times. Two robberies and once when she had to shoot him. I hope the best for her and I bet no one has the nuts to rob her again!

    YAY!!!!!

    Yay!

And that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

  • LuvsHorror

Bet his family is all mad at her and wants to sue. At least the world is rid of this little prick. She should get a medal.

    Karma says: “Pa-POW!”

    Good for grandma!

I’m waiting for the response from the perp’s family. “My son was a good boy!” in 5…4…3…2

    Go Gadget-Granny Go!!!

  • Taster’sChoice

Fool me twice, shame on me. Glad that isn’t how this one ended! You go Granny!

  • BrittBrittRoss

I’m glad this woman was able to protect herself & I don’t blame her for her decision in the heat of the moment, but I take no joy in a dumb kid getting killed for making poor life decisions. Everyone deserves a chance to be an asshole & learn to to better the hard way as needed…this saddens me.

  • Taster’sChoice

I’m sure Al and Jesse just haven’t heard yet… Well that is, assuming Granny is white and Devon is black… That’s the only way those race baiters ever get involved.

  • DeweyCheatam

For me, being an asshole is giving your kid brother a wedgie, etc. When you show up, repeatedly, invading someone’s home, armed with a deadly weapon … that’s big boy time. He was already mentally hardened, IMO, with few boundaries. Good riddance.

  • newstarshipsmell

I’m just going to assume that the bag of coins had a giant ¢ sign printed on the side of it.

  • BrittBrittRoss

I dunno, maybe I’m gettin my period or something, made me feel blue…

  • BrittBrittRoss

    LOL!

  • glitterpuss

That’s what he gets for thinking this poor old lady was such an easy target that he could hit her twice, cause once wasn’t enough torment. Guess he should have found a job instead.

  • Aussie Sabbath

Go Granny! The little pissant wasn’t going anywhere with his life anyway, if he was stupid enough to hit up the same lady twice, knowing that she would probably have a gun. It’s like he wanted to die.
    Natural selection at it’s finest.

  • Aussie Sabbath

Oh I dunno, his family should be grateful that she got rid of a waste of DNA for them. He was probably bringing the family name into disrepute and they were trying to work out a way to get rid of him.

He already knew she might have a gun. He had stolen one from her before. I just hope he doesn’t have a family member as dumb as he was who wants to defend the *family honor* and get revenge.

  • Wolf_of_Mars

He took his chances by going in armed a second time, ended up bleeding out on somebody’s lawn. If she didn’t blast him, he probably would have executed her as a witness. No sorrow, not a trace of sadness.

  • peanutbutternuts

better him getting killed then him killing someone else. fuck him

  • Andrea Pizzuto

What they don’t tell you is that the bullets were butterscotch flavored. Good for gramma. I think I’ve told the story where my 50 year old mom came outside in her underwear wielding a baseball bat because I was parked in the driveway. I can imagine her blowing some assclown away.

  • NoBigGovDuh

I think the grandmother was black, might want to pick your images better.

  • http://www.dreamindemon.com Morbid

No shit? You mean the black grandmother in the video wasn’t white? Damn… and all this time I thought I used that image just so I could use an old woman with a gun. Thanks! I will try to do better with my color co-ordination.

  • Ann Stone

    ROFL. You go, granny!

  • Kittyskyfish

I’d expect the same, too. Now that more information is out, I’m glad to learn that Devon’s family doesn’t fault the grandmother. From a January 9 interview:

“Devon’s parents want the homeowner to know that they do not fault her and understand she had no other choice. Devon’s father said his son knew what he was doing and he knew the consequences. He added, “My son crossed the line, my son was not a small kid. I am sure there was an element of fear for the lady, she had to protect herself.”

Devon’s family says they want to make sure no other families experience the same pain. They want other youth going down the wrong path to change their lives before it is too late.”

  • Rashad Johnson

Good . all the bleeding hearts will say say could have just given it to him and let him leave ,I say she should have blown his head off to send a stronger message.

  • Rashad Johnson

Nah , the truth wouldn’t fit the agenda .

  • Heather_Habilatory

Morbid has an agenda? Well, fuck.

  • warwitheastasia

How dare you! Have you ever noticed they’re always an “honor’s student” too? Every kid who gets arrested, shot, caught robbing little old ladies, etc., just happened to be doing so on the one day they skipped school that year.

  • keepalow

Thanks! its now stuck in my head also.
