It was reported that she was strangled with a form of ligature although further details have not been given.
The girl was last seen at home the day before in the early morning hours but was not in attendance at Westwood High School after leaving home for school. Her mother proceeded to file a missing-persons report the same evening.
Lucero’s body was found early the next day at the Sun Garden Apartments, a few miles from her home, by professional dumpster divers searching the trash container for recyclables. Upon the recovery of the girl’s remains, Lucero’s mother immediately had a suspect in mind.
The piece of shit in custody is 31-year-old Alex Anthony Madrid. Madrid is charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, sexual conduct with a minor, molestation of a child, sexual abuse, child abuse, abandonment/concealment of a dead body and tampering with physical evidence, according to Mesa police.
An undercover officer discovered Madrid’s car in Mesa and radioed for a marked car to make the arrest. The uniformed officer activated his lights but Madrid continued driving with no intention of stopping. After some clever road techniques, officers brought the suspect to a halt and made the arrest after Madrid tried jumping a fence.
Madrid is refusing to cooperate with authorities and will not disclose any details regarding the crime or the motive. He was initially sought as a “person of interest” and has been positively linked to the crime via his DNA as well as other forensic evidence.
Madrid was initially arrested on another matter but was kept in custody pending the investigation into his potential involvement in the crime.
It has been reported that Madrid, at one time, dated Lucero’s mother and lived with the family.
“Over the past some weeks, he had been estranged from the family,”Mesa Police Chief Ralph Milstead said. “It was known to detectives that Claudia was afraid of Alex. He had inappropriately touched her, on occasion.”
It was this incident that caused the girl’s mother to kick Madrid out of the apartment. Police say he’s been living in a different apartment complex since then. His new neighbors relayed their impression of Madrid as “creepy” and always walking without a shirt “thinking he was better than everybody else.”
There should be no surprise that Madrid has an extensive rap sheet that includes a domestic violence incident with a similar ligature-type assault.
I’m thoroughly disgusted to no end with this story and I hope you all hate me for bringing this one to light…fuck me right?
