Police Say Woman Stalked Duck Before Killing It

November 19, 2013 at 3:24 pm by

Karie LindgrenTARPON SPRINGS, FL – In my continuing efforts to report on the news that matters, police have arrested 36-year-old Karie Lindgren after they say she stalked a duck before purposely running it over with her car.

Natalie Paraskevopoulos called police after she found a duck squished in her driveway, accompanied by tire tracks across her front yard. “It was just really, really, upsetting to find it that way,” she said. “I mean, I was choked up. I was in tears by the time the police arrived.”

While on the scene, police were probably wishing a kid would get abducted nearby when another neighbor informed them they’d seen what had happened. They said they watched Lindgren first tried luring the duck with candy. When that tactic failed to work, Lindgren began stalking the duck in her car before finally running it over at a high rate of speed.

Police arrested Lindgren and charged her with felony animal cruelty. She’s currently in jail on $5,000 bond. She didn’t make her first court appearance because detention deputies said she was being uncooperative. I know this may comes as a shock, but a police report indicated Lindgren may have mental health issues.

“We raised them practically, ‘cause we’ve known them since they were ducklings,” Paraskevopoulos said. “So, it was just really devastating because you become attached to these animals, almost like they’re your pets and they’re kind of like the gang-raping necrophiliacs jewel of the neighborhood.”

    jewel of the neighborhood huh?
what about the double standard here —- if someone’s cat had killed a duck would the cat be put down? doubt it.

  • Buffettgirl

    Ducking bitch…

  • Melanie McMahan

Holy shit that’s just…messed up is what it is! I’m particularly loving the mug shot there.
Devil’s advocate here…I’m thinking the hypothetical cat wouldn’t have jumped in the Buick & Luke Duked it across the neighbor’s yard.

  • Corinna Cole

Cats are natural predators. I dont think that it really fits with this scenario. I live in a neghborhood with cats and ducks and the cats do not attack the ducks.

  • CT

Was this an autocorrect iphone issue? Was it supposed to say dick?

  • CT

When see stories like this and see the mug shot all I can think is – thank God I am so attractive.

  • Evan

    i’m thinking she was 63….turns out she’s 36 (PUKE!)

  • laurablue87

You know what they say: If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck……..HUNT DOWN AND KILL THAT SUMBITCH!!!

  • Dre Mosley

Messed up, and that’s a nice area too. Lots of Greek culture there.

  • Aussie Sabbath

We’ve had pet rabbits and my cat is terrified of them because they bully her!

  • Aussie Sabbath

WTF, she deliberately killed an animal and she’s grinning her head off like it was the BEST EVAR!
Come over here, sweetheart and try to hit a buck kangaroo. They’ll smash up your car real good and the impact will kill you at high speeds. Or a wombat. They cause axle damage and your car will swerve off the road and hit a tree.

  • Aussie Sabbath

I guess that’s what happens when you can only conceive ways to destroy. The vitriol and hatred have to go somewhere.

  • Laura_RT

Lol, I was at first worried our cat would eat our guinea pig… Turns out she’s scared shitless of it. Funny thing is dogs (even big ones) don’t worry her a bit.

  • Lena60

Luckily, ah keep Ma feathers numbered, for just such an emergency. She must be quackers.

  • Leasha

So Florida cares about punishing duck murderers but not child/teen murderers. Nice.

  • mean birch

I thank God you are too!

  • mean birch

What the duck? why? Who gives a duck? That bitch is ducked up.

  • Vicki

I lol’d … hard and loud … some would call it a guffaw. Thanks, Lena60.

  • Lena60

With your red cartoon hair kept just so, I would say so * wink* 😛

  • Elizabeth McCarthy

WTH? Now it’s babies will be orphaned and it’s mate widowed! Murderer! Look at that evil smirk on her face! Pluck her! At the very least, take her keys away!

  • CT

    And thank you for playing.

  • CT

And of course my shallow comment gets zero down votes but I tell a joke…go figure.

  • mean birch

Its more fun to play with you then playing with myself

  • CT

Then you aren’t doing it right. Thanks for coming, I’ll will be here all week.

  • WarriorArtemis

Seriously…don’t people eat ducks? They arrest this chick for that? WTF O.o

  • Kelly Eklectusbird

I’m a city girl so everytime we go to visit my boyfriend’s family a couple hours away i’m always so scared i’ll hit a kangaroo on this particular stretch of road where they cross often. i used to drive a Patrol with a bull bar which wouldn’t have been so bad but now i’m in a little Peugeot so I’ll probably die.

    Scary. As. Fudge.

  • Aussie Sabbath

A guy I work with got knocked off his motorbike because a kangaroo jumped into him. And my uncle ended up with a dead roo in his lap after he hit it with his ute. And a 10 year old girl died after her dad hit a roo and it went through the car and hit her.
    You don’t mess with roos!

  • Aussie Sabbath

Anyone who deliberately hurts an animal should be arrested.
Animal cruelty is a very well known hallmark of serious mental issues. If they didn’t arrest her, it could well be a child that she decides to stalk, lure with lollies and then run over when the child doesn’t do what she wants them to do. Animal cruelty often escalates into cruelty directed at humans.

  • You don’t think people are natural predators?

I’m legitimately curious. Of course, we are generally able to overcome our instincts. But we are ultimately and supremely predatory. It’s how we got here.

  • Lena60

Yes, but they usually don’t run them over first.

  • Eliza Berntsen

  • CT

There we go – I’m feeling the love now.

  • Twisted1

Oh how I miss the sponge docks!!

  • Corinna Cole

Of course we are natural predators…However, I dont think stalking a duck in a car and running through peoples yards just to hit it really ‘fits’ into what I was saying. A predator in the wild does it to eat and so forth. What did she want to do with the duck other than kill it. And for what? Did she take it home and pluck and eat it, no… She left it there for someone else to find. I get it is how we got here and all that jazz, but I dont think what she did was predator behavior, I think what she did was cruel, vicious, and just plain mean. I dont have issues with hunting if you are eating the food but running over a duck with a car for no reason doesnt make sense to me and in my opinion doesnt fall into predator behavior just ducking stupid.

  • JohnQknowitall

”It was just really, really, upsetting to find it that way,” she said. “I mean, I was choked up. I was in tears by the time the police arrived.”

Huh? Didn’t she have any sedatives left over from last time she saw roadkill?

  • t3chsupp0rt

Would they have run it over with a car for fun?

    Ok, don’t answer that.

  • t3chsupp0rt

I have 2 pet rats. One has no fear of cats whatsoever. This frightens my cat greatly.

  • thebossessecretary

Arrest this dumb b***h for wasting a good dinner.

  • patrickdh10

Get your webbed feet off of me you damn dirty duck.

  • Cerrisse

I’m not saying she should have killed it…but I would imagine that duck and all the other ducks that this Natalie chick consider to be the “jewel” of the neighborhood were shitting their ducky guts out everywhere they pleased. Karie probably stepped in enough shit to cause her mental issues…it was poop-induced duckicide, a viable defense in FL….

  • Boogawolf

Depends on which state you are from!

  • I totally get that. And you’re right, this wasn’t predatory in an animalistic sense. Just the way you had phrased it… you know, some people don’t think we have those natural tendencies and…

    I was curious.

  • WarriorArtemis

I was going to say, where I come from theres a lot of deer hunting that goes on and if you hit a deer (depending on how much road is in it) you better take that shit home lol

  • WarriorArtemis

This coming from a person who thinks its totally ok to cage an autistic child.

  • Aussie Sabbath

Nice to bring up old news, but this is about animal cruelty. Which is to be abhorred as much as child abuse.

  • Aussie Sabbath

We’ve kept rats too, with one being feisty enough to punch the cat in the face when she got too close to the cage. Sadly, she got out one night and died, with the cat eating part of her body. The cat knows not to go near the rats in the cage, but a rat outside the cage would be fair game to her.

  • Kelly Eklectusbird

No you really don’t! One absolutely mangled my friend’s VN and I’ve been petrified of hitting one ever since!

  • Chinchillazilla

If they knew how to drive, I am confident that my cats would do nothing BUT run over living things for fun.

  • Chinchillazilla

That’s not really fair. I don’t care about most roadkill, but the wild animals in my yard are different. Especially if you’ve watched them grow up from babies, you can’t help but get a little attached. I’m a little sad when I see one of our squirrels or rabbits has been hit, and I’d be pretty upset if someone deliberately killed one just for fun.

I’m not a complete bleeding heart. I’m pro-hunting and I eat meat. I just don’t approve of killing things solely for sport.

  • WarriorArtemis

Yeah, in theory, however, last I checked eating children was a Felony…and you’re so right, the way they kill/prepare poultry is so much more humane than this.

I’m just pointing out the fact that you created a double standard.

  • WarriorArtemis

I mean at least after she made it a road pancake the least she could have done is served it for dinner.

  • Aussie Sabbath

Funnily enough, it wasn’t me who downvoted you. Someone else doesn’t agree with you and isn’t afraid to show it.
Considering she deliberately set out to kill the duck and in the messiest way she could think of (and didn’t eat it afterwards), she’s not all there in the head.
Surely hurting an animal, just because she could, is wrong?

  • JohnQknowitall

Okay, okay… Thinking of my parents and grandparents and their “in the wild” pets they feed in their yards, I concede. 🙂

  • Gee

What an absolute bitch…. I don’t care about her mental illness. I think some tire tracks across her ass should teach her psycho ass a lesson.

  • ultracreep

Luke Duked…love it. I have to add that one to the vocabulary. Cue the Waylon Jennings…

  • Chelle

Maybe she thought she was protecting people. Blame the music I say

  • WarriorArtemis

I’m sure that it is, however, I think its fucked up that FL authorities are more interested in detaining a chick that killed a living thing that could become food rather than worrying about detaining actual violent offenders. Yeah, this chick is sort of violent but not crazy violent like many others who get off in that state.

That was my overall point. Previously I was poking fun at it and you chose to get all bitch hurt, then I got serious because no, I don’t agree with a lot of what you say, you’re also one of the reasons I stopped writing for BB…because of your opinion on autistic kids being caged and writing the stories so nonchalantly about them that it does a serious injustice, however you don’t see me getting all bitch hurt over everything you write on teh interwebz…not everything in life is serious, its not always a dick. You don’t have to take it so hard all the time.

  • Melanie McMahan

I’m was a Dukes of Hazzard watching child & I live in the South. It made sense to me.

  • Emily Clocke

    Poor duck 🙁

  • Megan Stokes Abdin

I would agree that she has serious mental health issues. I mean look at the smile on her face.

  • Megan Stokes Abdin

    It was funny as hell!
