Walker County, TX - Here’s a story that’s sure to piss you off. Howard Lewis, 46, is charged in the murder of his 18-month old son, hanging the boy from a doorknob.
On July 24, a man returned home to find his wife, 55-year-old Shaunta Crawford, had been brutally beaten to death, while his grandson, Aiydan Crawford, had been hanged from a doorknob by a neck-tie. ”It was a terrible scene,” said Walker County Sheriff Clint McCrae. “It was one that, even those of us that have been doing this for a long time, we certainly didn’t want to be here.”
The child’s mother, Tiffany Crawford, also lived in the home but was at work when the murders occurred. She and Lewis had recently separated and were in the middle of a custody battle. The couple were scheduled for a custody hearing that month, but seems as if shit stain went ahead and took care of that on his own.
Lewis, a prison guard at the Hutchins Unit in Dallas, has been the main suspect in the case from the beginning, but investigators were waiting on DNA results from the scene before they arrested him. ”It has been determined that Lewis’ DNA was found on an unnamed article which was left behind at the crime scene, which we feel directly ties Lewis to the homicide,” McRae said.
At this time he’s only been charged with the death of his son and has not been charged with the beating death of the boy’s grandmother. Yet. Lewis now knows what it feels like to be one of the individuals he guarded, currently sitting in jail on $1 million bond on a charged of capitol murder. This being Texas, he’s also facing a possible death sentence.Tags: Aiydan Crawford, Beating, Crime, Hoawrd Lewis, Murder, Strangulation, Texas
