Port Arthur, TX – This article was written by Gaucha in our Workshop forum. I will get this under their name once their account has been created. A one-month old is currently in a full body cast after being beaten and shaken so badly that her brain had shifted.
Faith Mason was brought to the hospital last month suffering from a plethora of injuries, including a broken neck, arms and legs. In addition, the baby had a lacerated liver, a ruptured kidney and her brain had shifted due to being violently shaken. Some of these injuries are reportedly weeks old.
Because of the severity of her injuries, Faith was flown to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston and put in a full body cast and has not regained consciousness. The team taking care of Faith has stated that this is the worst case of child abuse they had ever seen.
Faith lived with her mother, 20-year-old Christine Johnson, her father, 17-year-old Darrell Mason, and Christine’s aunt, Linda Fields. To be honest, you could throw a dart at these three and whoever you managed to hit could possibly be the person responsible for Faith’s injuries.
Johnson admitted that she has choked baby Faith to a case worker, Fields has had five of her children removed from her custody because of neglectful supervision and Mason is apparently well-known to police for many drug offenses. He has been seen wearing red, making comments about weed, and making “Blood Gang” signs on FaceBook.
One of Fields’ neighbors , who did not want to be identified, said that Mason was addicted to “dip”, or embalming fluid. He also another neighbor reportedly heard the baby “hollering all night long.” Fields has stated she never noticed anything wrong with Faith aside from a swollen arm. She also stated she thinks a combination of rough handling during diaper changes and a brittle bone disease is the reason for Faith’s multiple bone fractures.
This doesn’t explain the ruptured kidney and lacerated liver, and Shari Pulliman from Beaumont CPS expressed doubts about any brittle bone disease. “I am sure Texas Children’s (Hospital) knows what abuse looks like and knows what brittle bone disease looks like. We have not been told anything about brittle bone disease. That has not come up at all,” she said.
According to reports, Johnson and Mason have yet to check on the status of their child and both failed to appear at Faith’s custody hearing.
No arrests have been made at this time, but police are continuing with their investigation.
Never seems to fail whenever we have child abuse stories on Dreamin’ Demon that there is at least one person who thought something was going on and does nothing about it. This, despite the fact there is a child abuse hotline for every state. People, it’s impossible for authorities to help an abused child if they are not aware a child is being abused. If you suspect abuse, pick up the damn phone so they can intervene before a child’s brain is scrambled, not after.Tags: Beating, Child Abuse, Christine Johnson, Crime, Darrell Mason, Faith Mason, Linda Fields
