JACKSONVILLE, FL – Police say a man in a Florida Best Buy lured a 9-year-old girl into the store’s bathroom where he allegedly beat her and shoved her head in the toilet.
Investigators say the girl was only out of her mother’s sight for a minute or two, but that was all 29-year-old James Tadros needed to get the little girl into the women’s bathroom.
That’s where Tadros reportedly kicked and punched the girl, put a plastic bag over her head and held her head down in the toilet. Authorities say the girl would have been killed had store employees not taken time out from not being able to answer the most basic of technical questions, and walked into the bathroom after hearing the girl’s screams.
“By the grace of God, the customer and employees got in when they did,” Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jay Farhat said. “If it had been any longer this could have been a much worse outcome.”
The employees told police that they looked underneath the handicapped stall and saw Tadros holding the child’s head in the toilet. Tadros ended up dropping the girl, who was then able to crawl out of the stall that, according to witnesses, was covered with blood.
Not only did the Best Buy employees stop the attack, they also detained Tadros at the scene until police arrived. James Tadros was arrested and has been charged with attempted murder. Farhat said that Tadros did not know the girl and that this was an isolated incident.
As for a motive behind the attack, neighbors say Tadros lives with his parents and is significantly developmentally disabled.Tags: Attempted Murder, bathroom, Beating, Best Buy, Crime, Florida, James Tadros, mental illness, toilet
