Sao Paulo, Brazil – A 13-year-old in Brazil killed his parents, his grandmother and his great-aunt before going to school then returning home to kill himself.
Normally I stay away from crime stories in different countries, but I decided to go ahead and report on this one. Not just because of the crime itself, but also because how the news is trying to associate this with the Amityville murders.
On Tuesday, the parents of Marcelo Pesseghini were found shot to death in their bedroom. Luiz Pesseghini, 40, was found in his bed while 30-year-old Andreia Pesseghini, was found on her knees. Both had been shot in the head with a .40 caliber pistol.
The boy’s grandmother, 65-year-old Benedita de Oliveira Bovo, and great-aunt, 55-year-old Bernadete Oliveira da Silva, were both shot to death in their beds in a different area of the house. Marcelo was found dead from a single gunshot wound to the head. His father’s police-issue service revolver was found nearby.
Investigators believe Marcelo killed his family members sometime Sunday night or early Monday morning. He then got a ride to school with a friend and spent the day there before returning home and blowing his brains out.
Some news outlets reporting on this incident are bringing up the infamous Amityville murders. For anyone living under a rock, on November 13 1974 Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot his parents and four siblings to death as they slept in their beds. The murders would be the basis of a ridiculous hoax crafted to get out of a mortgage, which would spawn a book that scared the shit out of me as a kid, and a horrible movie franchise that included Ryan Reynold’s god-awful beard.
The news has latched on to this “connection” because Marcelos had posted a picture of the infamous “Amityville Ghost Boy” on his Facebook eight months ago. Without any other evidence pointing to the Amityville murders, or that Marcelo even knew the context of the photo he posted, that’s a pretty loose connection. But even I must admit, it does make for a great link-bait.
The real reason Marcelo killed his family may have less to do with the murder of a family 40 years years ago, and more to do with something even dumber. According to Itagiba Franco, of the Sao Paulo Civilian Police’s homicide department, Marcelo told a friend he wanted to kill his parents and become a hit man.
It’s also being reported that Marcelo may be the fifth victim at the hands of corrupt police officers. Both of Marcelo’s parents are cops, and his mother had recently provided details about a criminal gang within the police force, which led to some cops losing their jobs.
Speaking of the Amityville Ghost Boy photo, it was almost five years ago that I proved that photo did not show the ghostly visage of one of the murdered DeFeo boys. After I ran the image through a series of different filters and spectrums, it becomes quite clear who is in the photo.Amityville, Brazil, Crime, Marcelo Pesseghini, Murder, Shooting
