Hartford, WI — Jessie Blodgett was found dead in her bed over a week ago, and now police have classified the 19-year-old’s death as a homicide.
After wrapping up a performance of Fiddler on the Roof on Sunday, Blodgett attended a cast party. Her mother told police she heard her daughter return home at around 1 a.m. Monday morning.
Her mother said that she went into Blodgett’s room at 8 a.m. before heading to work, and her daughter was alone in bed. She does not know if her daughter was actually alive at this time or not. When she returned home from work sometime after noon, she checked on her daughter and found her deceased.
While no official cause of death has been determined, police did find a ligature mark on Blodgett’s neck, but no cord, wire, rope or other material that might have caused the mark. I’m guessing the mark could have come from the violin she plays, right? Regardless, the Medical Examiner said it’ll be a month before cause of death is determined, pending toxicology tests.
However, police are checking out a 46-year-old man seen at the cast party with Blodgett. He was seated next to Blodgett at the party and admitted to pulling her onto his lap. He later told police his girlfriend would be upset if she knew about his behavior with Blodgett that night. Police have filed search warrants to obtain the man’s cell phone records, as well as Blodgett and her parents.
