Jessie BlodgettHartford, WI — Jessie Blodgett was found dead in her bed over a week ago, and now police have classified the 19-year-old’s death as a homicide.

After wrapping up a performance of Fiddler on the Roof on Sunday, Blodgett attended a cast party. Her mother told police she heard her daughter return home at around 1 a.m. Monday morning.

Her mother said that she went into Blodgett’s room at 8 a.m. before heading to work, and her daughter was alone in bed. She does not know if her daughter was actually alive at this time or not. When she returned home from work sometime after noon, she checked on her daughter and found her deceased.

While no official cause of death has been determined, police did find a ligature mark on Blodgett’s neck, but no cord, wire, rope or other material that might have caused the mark. I’m guessing the mark could have come from the violin she plays, right? Regardless, the Medical Examiner said it’ll be a month before cause of death is determined, pending toxicology tests.

However, police are checking out a 46-year-old man seen at the cast party with Blodgett. He was seated next to Blodgett at the party and admitted to pulling her onto his lap. He later told police his girlfriend would be upset if she knew about his behavior with Blodgett that night. Police have filed search warrants to obtain the man’s cell phone records, as well as Blodgett and her parents.

Wait, if I was the mother and found my daughter with another man in her room I’d go ape shit. Wth was her mom thinking?
Dude, probably killed her so his gf wouldn’t find out…

  • itsknotme

Wow!?!?! No one told me they were casting on Broadway “A Weekend at Bernie’s (The Musical).”

  • darsa

I don’t see where it says mom found her in bed with a man…?

  • VietGrlTrippie

Fuck, I just woke up and misread big time. My bad. This is what I get for waking up to reading dd.

  • How come some autopsies take weeks and others only days ? ( Cory Montieth ?)

46-year-old slept with her and panicked about his girlfriend finding out?

  • techsupp0rt

    Also, she was 19.

Know what I told my mom when she found a man in my room when I was 19?

    “Fuck off, I’m busy!”

  • BrittBrittRoss

    Fuck off, huh?

& if I was your mom & I would have suggested that maybe, just maybe its time to get your own place Hunny….after I knocked your teeth out, that is….

  • Really odd and quite circumstances to be a murder…was she killed before or after the mother left for work…seems to say that she basically never left that spot all day, so one would have to wonder..I would have even assumed overdose or something like that. But since they seem to think there is a ligature mark they are headed in the direction of strangulation…hmm…wonder what the answers will reveal here?

  • Buffettgirl

Seriously creepy situation… something about a 46 year old man acting inappropriately with a 19 year old girl that ends up dead the next day gives me the heebies BAD!

  • Pyncky

The Medical Examiner’s office in Hartford, Wisconsin is so backed up that they can’t get to a homicide examination for a freaking month?!? I could see this if it was Detroit or Oakland, but Hartford, Wi?

Wonder if her mom killed her.

  • Leasha

I believe he just hung out with her at the party and tried to get her on his lap. Doesn’t necessarily mean he fucked her. Maybe she rejected him.

  • lola

I knew her personally. She was a beautiful young woman. Never into any sort of drugs. She was on a rehersal break for the play and went back to her house to grab lunch. She just never returned… She was so grateful and loving of life.

  • BrittBrittRoss

My condolences on the death of your friend. I hope they find out who is responsible & bring them to justice soon.

2 down votes, huh? Guess Y’all must still live at home then! LMAO! Touched a nerve?

  • Wolf_of_Mars

When you touch a nerve here, the “Boo-Birds” come to roost.

  • I used to play violin for many years, and with the shoulder rest, there shouldn’t be a mark on her neck as the violin sits between the chin and shoulder. So maybe she’d have a mark or bruise on her chin or shoulder, but not her neck. It doesn’t really touch the neck when the shoulder rest is fitted properly, and if it does touch the neck, it wouldn’t be enough to leave a mark or bruise after death, as there is no real pressure on that area.

  • amy gerkin

All due respect, I have to address one of the silliest remarks I have ever heard.. The violin she plays would not have left a ligature mark on her neck. The way it is held would not have left a bruise or any kind of mark for that matter. My daughter has played violin for 5 years and has never had any marks on her neck from the shoulder pad or chin rest. How sad someone took the life of someone so talented..

  • Wildheart

I’m a little confused. The story says she came home after 1:00 am and was still in bed at 8:00 am when her mom left for work, so are you saying that she got up after her mom left, went to rehearsal, came back home for lunch and was killed? Because her mom got home “sometime after noon” and found her dead, I assume still in her bed. And the theatre director mentions her being at the cast party the night before, but nothing about a rehearsal that day. Just curious.

  • kimbev69

How can you drop a bomb that she was out in the am and then not back it up with more of a response? So who did she leave with for lunch and how far was her home from the studio

  • mean birch

Mom? Really? Why do you think the mom killed her?

  • mean birch

    Probably. Ewww.

  • JohnQknowitall

I whispered, “bitch” in the lowest tone on my way up the steps to my room after my mom snapped at me as a teenager for hanging out with a “bad influence.” The next 4 plus weeks were unpleasant… fucking unpleasant.

  • lola

I didn’t fully read this article, this is just what I was told. I’m not quite sure what information is true anymore. The story is always changing. I could be wrong. I just don’t know anymore.

  • LuvsHorror

    How sad.

  • lola

Thank you… It isn’t fair when such a wonderful, intelligent woman has her life taken from her, and the cold hearted monster who took that life still gets to walk around, living and breathing.

  • Heather_Habilatory

    ALWAYS caffeinate THEN Demon-ate.

But never at the same time. Coffee out the nose hurts like a bitch.

  • Heather_Habilatory

Thank you for the information, Lola. My heart goes out to her family, friends and her community. Keep us posted on how the investigation goes, please?

  • Heather_Habilatory

It happens like that when something like this happens. Information is put out that is deemed credible, then it’s found to be not true at all. Just hang in there. The whole story will be known in time.

  • Heather_Habilatory

I’m thinking.. maybe Morbid meant violin STRING.

  • Yeah that will leave a mark!

  • Heather_Habilatory

    Yeah, yeah it would.

  • Kat C Broaddus

Hmm..just read that a young man her age has been charged with her murder.

  • CatAtonic99

Haha.. When I was a teen there was this time my dad was upset that my bf and I were in my bedroom with the door closed & locked. He became increasingly pissed off when I took ‘too long’ to the open the door.

My reaction? “HOLD ON!! I’M TRYING TO PUT MY BRA BACK ON!!” 😀

  • CatAtonic99

Isn’t it interesting how agencies seem to be able to get toxicology/autopsy results back fairly quickly when it comes to celebrity deaths, yet for everyone else it seems to take forever and day?
