Forest, OH – An 8-year-old girl will probably need years of therapy after watching as her mother was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend.
On Tuesday, 28-year-old Teresa Nelson called 911 to report her ex, 22-year-old Justin Manns, was banging on her door and threatening to kill himself. She explained the day before he had also threatened to kill himself.
“Please hurry. I’m afraid for my life,” Manns says to the operator before saying to Manns, “You literally scare me.”
Nelson was assured officers were on their way, but they would not get there fast enough. Within five minutes, Manns had kicked in the door and Nelson can be heard telling her eight-year-old daughter to go into another room.
“Oh my god, he’s got me by the hair! He stabbed me! He’s stabbing me! He’s killing me,” Nelson can be heard screaming before the phone disconnects.
The dispatcher immediately called back and the phone was answered by Nelson’s crying daughter who was hiding in a closet with her grandmother.
“He stabbed her,” the girl told the dispatcher. “I’m scared. I think she’s already dead. I don’t want my Mommy to be dead.”
The dispatcher tries to calm the girl and informs her that police are almost there. The girl then asks the operator to call her dad.
When police arrived they found Nelson dead from stab wounds inflicted by Manns, who had used the same knife to kill himself. The sheriff’s office said the girl is now safe with relatives.
“Children’s services is helping us see that she gets whatever she needs,” said Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart.Tags: Crime, Domestic Violence, Douglas Manns, Murder, Ohio, Stabbing, Suicide, Teresa Nelson
