JACINTO CITY, TX - A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder after police say he stabbed his mother to death in her own bed because he was tired of being abused.
Police say 31-year-old Laura Moreno’s teenage son went into some kind of psychotic state and stabbed her to death as she slept in her bed. Afterwards he called his aunt to tell her what he’d done. She arrived at the home shortly after 3 a.m., found Laura dead in her bed, then called 911.
Witnesses told police they saw the teen running from the home screaming shortly before paramedics arrived. He allegedly told family members that he stabbed his mother to death because he was tired of her verbal and physical abuse, particularly when she’d been drinking.
“He just snapped,” said Jacinto City Police Chief Joe Ayala. “And the next thing he observed was that he had stabbed her and was removing the knife.”
Ayala described Laura’s wounds as defensive wounds, saying she was stabbed at least 10 times. Police say they’ve had several calls involving Laura Moreno in the past, and claim she was both drunk and belligerent.
One of Moreno’s friends described the teen as a great kid and said there was signs of abuse.
“She had a temper. She abused him,” said Arthur Zuniga while adding the boy was always respectful. ”He never bad-mouthed to her. He always did what he was told.”
The boy told police that on the night before he stabbed his mother to death, they had argued about the clothes he was wearing overnight, and that she’d slapped him.
The teen has been charged with murder and is currently being held in a juvenile detention facility. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this where he will remain for awhile so he can get the help he’s gonna need.
As for some of you crappy parents out there… you may wanna sleep with one eye open. Eventually, kids are going to realize that up to a certain age, and with proof of abuse, they can get rid of your sorry ass and suffer consequences that are still better off than their current living situation.Tags: Crime, Juvenile, Laura Moreno, Murder, Stabbing, Texas
