Marcus CurryMEMPHIS, TN – Police have arrested Marcus Curry after they say he killed a German Shepard puppy by placing it in a running dishwasher.

Police were called Wednesday by an apartment maintenance man who found a dead German Shepherd puppy in a dumpster. He told police it was the same dog he saw earlier on Curry’s apartment porch on a short leash and without water.

When he and some other workers gave Curry’s dog some water, they told Curry he needed to take better care of the dog. Afterwards, Curry took the puppy inside but came out an hour later to put a red duffel bag in the dumpster.

“I was thinking to myself ‘That must be the dog,’” said the worker. “I unzipped the bag and saw the dog and it was wet.”

When police questioned Curry, he didn’t initially admit to placing the dog in the dishwasher, but did admit he put it in the dumpster. But a witness told investigators that Curry told him he put the dog in the dishwasher and “left it in there too long” while another witness saw the puppy in the dishwasher and said it was not moving when Curry took it out.

Curry then admitted he had placed the puppy in the dishwasher to keep it from shitting in his apartment. Curry was arrested and charged with aggravated abuse to animals. He is being held on a $40,000 bond.
