Dog Brings Home Dead Body Of Newborn Baby Girl

March 18, 2013 at 5:29 pm by

LukeOKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A woman received a horrific gift on Saturday when the family’s dog found a dead baby girl wrapped in plastic and brought the corpse home.

The woman was house-siting on Saturday, when the homeowner’s 6-year-old dog, Luke, carried the baby like a newborn puppy and laid the corpse down by her feet.

“It was three to five pounds and was still very fresh,” she said. She added that Luke, a mix-breed dog, would never hurt anyone and that there was no trauma to the newborn’s body.

Investigators said there are very few clues that could help them solve the case, and they have no suspects. “We don’t know where the baby came from, if it was born in the area outside or if someone brought the baby out there to dispose of it,” OKC Police Capt. Dexter Nelson said.

The house is located in the 15000 block of South Air Depot and Luke is known to roam a large section of the surrounding area, making it tough to find out exactly where the dog found the newborn. The medical examiner is working to determine if the child was born alive or still-born.

Police were canvassing the neighborhood over the weekend, using K-9 units and cadaver dogs to search the area, but were unable to find any clues. Anyone with any information about the child is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7000 or the Oklahoma City Police Department at 231-2121.

I guess I shouldn’t complain about stepping into the puddle of puke my cat occasionally leaves outside my bedroom door. Stepping into a dead baby would be much, much worse. Especially when barefoot.

Oh, and can we please get Erielle Reshef to report on all bad news. She could tell me I have ball cancer, and I’d sit there nodding politely while picturing her naked.

That would so freak me the fuck out and I can usually handle whatever my pets bring to me . . . of course the bodies I bury are much larger and the holes I dig are a hell of a lot deeper . . .

  • strawberryfieldsforevie

3 to 5 pounds…doesn’t sound as if she were born alive.

  • Dude, that dog knew that baby didn’t belong out there.

  • I’m guessing the kids a still born or we’ve got a poem night baby on our hands.

  • G.I.R.L.

Probably some stupid teen’s baby. If you’re just gonna have the kid and THEN kill it, you might as well abort it before it actually becomes something substantial. Morons.

  • Cassy_Again

Not everyone has access to abortion.

  • Cassy_Again

I suppose Morbid will come on here claiming the mutt is covering up a crime for his pitt bull friend?

  • lespacino

Especially in Oklahoma, which is a big problem- obviously.

  • lespacino

Too bad the piece of shit who left it there didn’t.

  • LadyOfShalott

I dunno. My daughter was just about six pounds when born at full term. Fully healthy, just on the small side. Godammit. Infanticide – if that’s what it is – is one of the things that really gets to me.

  • Sadly, I know our Weenier dog would NOT do the same. I’ve seen that little psycho EAT a freaking RAT! (She use to help keep rats out of the barn next to our old home) Once she grab a mouse jumping in mid air and when she closed her jaws it was the grosses “CRUNCH” sound. The folks with the barn raised goats and after every big BBQ, she would bring back big ass bones from the left overs. That little psycho would have ate it and brought home a leg bone or something. Man, I bet if that dog hasn’t found that baby, no one every would had.

  • Heather_Habilatory

3 to 5 pound babies are born alive all the time.

Both my husband and I were premature and under 4 pounds, and born alive… (obviously.)

  • Buffettgirl

  • Heather_Habilatory

    No shit.

  • Heather_Habilatory

It’s pretty fucking awful when a dog can take better care of a newborn baby than it’s own fucking parents.

  • Yup, both of mine were just around 6 pounds. Both were early (Oldest was around four weeks early. Youngest around two) It’s not uncommon for woman hiding a pregnancy to have small babies. It doesn’t really help with the whole hiding it from everyone plan if they start showing.

  • Frankly, Im partial to Kim Passoth…

  • Aussie Sabbath

    Bad dog, put that back!

  • MyHovercraftIsFullofEels

You do know that’s what Dachshunds were bred for right? It’s their job, killing rodents. Dogs know the difference between rats and humans.

  • MyHovercraftIsFullofEels

Right, but if you were born in a toilet stall or field the final outcome would not have been the same. My brother and sister were born at 1.25 & 1.5 pounds. They are 22 now. Being born at the end of the 20th century in a hospital is the only reason they are alive.

  • MyHovercraftIsFullofEels

And my cat only brings me birds. Sometimes live, more often not.

  • Nope. I would come in here claiming the mutt showed there are other things a dog can do with a baby besides tearing it to pieces. 😛

  • Suzy Sears

As morbid your are an ol softie I knew it !!!! Good dog

  • Yup. Google “Dachshund Mauls Baby”. They do NOT do good with babies. We got her cause we wanted a cute little lap dog. But as she got bigger she went from sweet little Lola to Chola. So we did some reading on the breed. Freaking Joe Pesci (as Nicky Santoro) of the dog world! I’m not gonna lie, is really impressive how freaking tough she is. We foster dogs and have a training/shock collar we use sometimes. It’s for BIG breeds. Put on her cause she has this “issue” with the kid next door. (Meaning she wants to freaking eat him) When we use it on pit bull mutts, we turn the power to maybe a three at MAX. But with her we gotta turn it up to eleven and she still tries to go after that poor kid! (We said fuck it and just lock her in the kennel when the kids play. Any “big” dog can be intimidating but to see something that small try to go after coyotes is just amazing!. But since we moved out of the “country” she has calmed down allot. Well, at least after she got some doggy anger management.

  • We had a Bangle cat when our oldest was little. She LOVED him. But we had to put some distance between them once she started trying to feed him. Found a (dead) baby opossum in his toddler bed. It was both horrifying and cute. After that happened Grandma had her rehomed.

  • Wolf_of_Mars

Ours is a mole terminator… Just brought one in the house yesterday for my wife.

  • Prom dumpster baby?… no bueno. Very sad to know that this type of shit still happens. These people have means of being able to give birth and let the child live. What scum! People try for years to have a bay and they take it upon themselves to decide who lives and who doesnt.

  • tkaz

If my dog THINKS there’s meat in a bag (could be a sock, he’s dumb!), he tears that bag open.
This dog didn’t tear the plastic, he brought the baby in, he knew something wasn’t right. What a good dog. 🙂
If the dog covers a lot of ground maybe a K-9 search?? Would that work???

  • That’s very sad. My girlfriend and myself are expecting (in two weeks…a baby girl) so this hits home. Poor little girl….just spent nine months presumably being nurtured inside her mommy’s tummy and then no sooner does she enter the world before she is taken right back out of it. I’m sorry for the young chook.

  • Good dog, Luke. My guess would be that someone gave birth to the baby and dumped it. I can’t speculate as to whether the baby was born alive or not, but if it was, it wouldn’t live very long exposed to the elements. Evidently born to someone who shouldn’t have been pregnant in the first place, because nobody who has any business being pregnant would ever dump a baby.

  • Yes, good ole right wing reactionaries trying to outlaw abortion. Because if people couldn’t have abortions every baby would be loved.
Or a lot more of this shit would happen.

  • I used to have a mini dachshund, and one time when I was taking her for a walk there was a dead, rotting squirrel on the side of the road. It took every ounce of strength to pull her away from it, and she only weighed 8 pounds! She wanted that thing, bad!

  • My mini actually loved kids. She was a little spaz, though. Dachshunds aren’t the right kind of dog for my bucolic temperament. It’s cool that you foster dogs.

  • My son was a bit over five pounds. He was early, but perfectly viable. Three pounds would be a little trickier, but it isn’t unheard of. Of course I wanted my son (after the initial surprise of being pregnant when I was told I couldn’t get pregnant) and did the right thing by making sure he was cared for properly. He had to be on oxygen for a couple of days, but he was fine.

  • Wolf_of_Mars

From the first time I’d heard of them, I’ve wanted a Bengal cat.

  • Andyman

“Oh, and can we please get Erielle Reshef to report on all bad news. She could tell me I have ball cancer, and I’d sit there nodding politely while picturing her naked.” – Ball cancer. lol. I don’t know Morbid – She is hot but Kim Passoth is fucking SMOKING.

  • Andyman

Much could be said about the ineptitude of Owebama too but that wouldn’t be on topic either. Not all republicans want to outlaw abortion contrary to your retarded statement.

  • BehemothII

Hopefully Morbid you wear slippers around the house 🙂

  • Maybe not ALL Republicans, but here in Oklahoma they certainly do want to ban abortion and work VERY hard at it. Planned Parenthood does not even perform abortions here in OKC. Our very conservative Republican dominated state gov routinely passes strict-anti abortion bills only to have them later overturned. They keep on trying though. Just this week, the house passed three of them. One even removes the judicial bypass option for teens. A judge can now decide a teen does not have the maturity to make a decision regarding abortion, but she would then be mature enough to raise a child. That is insane!

  • Athena

Actually, her statement was quite on-topic, considering she was responding to a comment about abortion being unavailable for many.

…and it’s certainly not the Dems or Libs running on anti-choice platforms, so I don’t know that he comment was retarded, either. Mentioning that right-wingers are attempting to ban abortion is different from saying all right-wingers want to ban abortion.

  • Athena

    The anti-logic is staggering.

  • Kasie K

    right on. you win

  • Kasie K

  • Kasie K

    owebama. thats some funny shit

  • ultracreep

Just a few days ago my tuxedo cat snatched a bird from a hole in the screen of a second story window. My son got it (unhurt) out of the cat’s mouth, and then we had to herd the cats one way as we tried to get the bird back out the window. Hubs eventually caught it (with a sock on his hand no less) and threw it out the window, but the chasing and yelling that went on beforehand was pretty funny.

  • My twins were 3lb 12oz and 3lb 8oz, respectively. They were 9 weeks early, and no sucking reflex, so they needed NG tubes to eat, but were perfectly healthy and perfectly formed.

  • Yeah, no kidding.

  • I guess it would be too much to ask that people use a little personal responsibility and don’t get knocked up in the first place.

  • Andyman

I don’t believe in abortion but I do believe in a woman’s right to choose. I am sure a lot of other republicans believe the same thing.

  • JGo555

If schools are to provide sex ed in which the students are to learn how to put on a condom, I urge the government to also educate them as to what to do with unwanted babies: SAFE HAVEN LAW. Please tell all these girls that dropping a baby off at a police, fire house or church is way better than killing it.

  • These people – what people? Surely you don’t mean EVERYONE has the means to give birth and let the child live. Sometimes Daddy isn’t exaggerating when he says he’ll kill his daughter if she gets pregnant. Even when the baby is his.

  • Abroad

Why should they do either? Those kids have no business having sex in the first place

  • strawberryfieldsforevie

  • Athena

Three cheers for modern medicine, huh? Had I given birth outside of a hospital, I would have bled to death.

  • Athena

Good luck finding a school in Oklahoma that does either.

  • brandi

    She always wins lol

  • Once you’re pregnant its a little too late. I think choosing to have an abortion is taking responsibility for your actions just as much as choosing to have the child or choosing to put it up for adoption. It is much more so than leaving a newborn to die in a trash can somewhere anyway. Of note, Oklahoma teaches abstinence only sex ed. Could be a big factor in our extremely high rates of teen pregnancy and STDs.

  • Twisted1

All that being said. Ok. has a baby safe haven law. No excuse for killing your baby when you can drop them off at a safe location and walk away.

  • Twisted1

Truth be told, in the Internet age there are no excuses. Unless these kids are not allowed to watch TV or get on the net. Finding out your options are simply a click away.

  • Chinchillazilla

Better than my min pin… He’ll bring you HALF a mole.

  • takurospirit

If it really was only 3-5 pounds it might have been a miscarriage. But obviously not wanted noting the method of disposal. Sad.

  • G.I.R.L.

I dunno; I weighed in at 4lbs when I was born.

  • WHY do you folk ALWAYS JUMP to a Politics-Poli/y/-tricks political statement and name call the current President Re-elect………….No relation,,,-What So ‘EVER’-…………………………………..’Bromidic’ ( statements ) !

  • agreed, but its depressing because it is true

  • Buffettgirl

I’m sure the majority do… it’s the law of the land no matter how anyone feels about it and the majority of Republicans that I know (not a ton since I do live in Democrat dominated Oregon) recognize this and move on…

  • Andyman

We split hairs again – I am sure it won’t be the last time. Carry on.

  • Andyman

Hey if the shoe fits… 🙂

  • It’s like having a Cat/Dog hybrid! And their fur is soooooo soft. I’ve been told it’s what a large wild cat’s pelt would feel like!

  • It’s allot of fun to Foster! You get to have all the fun, rescue pays for all the vet treatment and what we spend is tax deductible. Plus it’s awesome when they find the right home. Makes me wanna fly around in a cape! But I feel you about some just not being the right temperament for ‘ya. We have a Rat Terrier right now that I can not WAIT to be done with Heartworm treatment recovery! He has an outstanding personality. Not one bit of “Little Dog” syndrome. It’s just he is very much a companion dog. Waaaaay to needy for me :/

  • My cat once brought home a mole. I was all “WHAT IN THE HELL DID YOU DO TO IT’S NOSE???”

  • We lived way out in the “county” where everyone had livestock. It’s soooo much fun washing greasy cow poop off of a dog!

  • My OLD ass cat I had since I was a kid (was almost 16 when she died) would bring birds in through the “doggy door” in the middle of the night. Yeah, not fucking fun when it starts flying around the house at 2:am! Freaking the kids, cats and dogs out!

  • That is a very good point. A baby that small would need ALLOT of medical attention

  • driven .

um really? you mean like paul ryan ? yeah Im sure the repubs believe in abortion right/ immigration reform and the right for gays to marry.. oh wait.. that would make them democrats !

  • Andyman

Right because all republicans believe every bit of drivel you just spouted. Moron.

  • Buffettgirl

Really? Stereotype much? So I guess since Republicans are all Paul Ryan-like in your tiny little mind then all Democrats must automatically think and act like Michael Moore? Are you really that uninsightful? You should take a moment and think before you type…

  • Athena

I honestly don’t understand why the vast majority of Americans consider themselves to be of either major party to begin with. I see far more people explaining how they differentiate from their party than vice-versa.

  • Buffettgirl

I don’t anymore. If anyone asks, I just say I lean fiscally conservative with some liberal views on social issues… it confuses everyone and they don’t ask anymore usually!

  • That’s one way to play fetch..

  • Scretch

Maybe it was some stupid teenS’ baby. Sperm donor too, don’t forget. 😉
