smiling pitBronx, NY - Surveillance video captured a pit bull attacking a 6-year-old girl walking on a sidewalk in the Bronx Sunday afternoon.

In the video you can see as the girl and her grandmother are walking down Webster Avenue when the dog charges after the girl from across the street, latches on to her, then starts dragging the little girl around the sidewalk.

The girl’s grandmother tries desperately to protect her, to no avail. Other people rush in and start kicking the pit bull and are finally able to pull it off of the girl.

“At first the dog tried to bite her in the face, but he grabbed the jacket, he bit her on the leg,” said Eduardo Candelier, who was one of the people who rushed in to help. “The girl was crying, she was going crazy.”

The owner of the dog was also present and reportedly yelled at the crowd to leave his dog alone, then put the dog on a leash after witnesses were able to pull it off the girl it was trying to eat.

The girl was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries, including small puncture wounds to her right arm and right leg.

The dog’s owner, who lived several minutes away from where the attack took place, stayed on the scene until police arrived and was issued a summons for having a dog off the leash. The dog was not taken away and there are no plans to put it down.

The dog is lucky it didn’t attack one of Candelier’s relatives. He said had it, he would have killed that dog.

“Really, sir, that was a little naughty, wasn’t it? Your dog really shouldn’t have been off the leash like that. Now run along, you scallywag!”

    WHAT. THE. FUCK??

If it didn’t mean somebody else would have to get hurt i would start a pool on when this dog attacks again. With an owner like that it’s a fucking dead cert.

  • Carlisle Hall

I don’t see anything wrong with starting the pool because that land-shark is going to attack again either way.

If a human ran across the street and attacked a child, he would be arrested and charged with child abuse, but if a DOG does the same …. There is something sadly wrong with a nation that protects its dogs at the expense of its children!

  • Carlisle Hall

I hope the people in this neighborhood take action and do what police SHOULD have done — kill that 4-legged demon!

  • http://profiles.google.com/amysweeps Amy Em

I’d like to know why are they not taking the dog away. What does it take in the Bronx? Because this seems to me like the perfect case for taking someone’s dog away! It is a miracle that she wasn’t injured more than she was. She’ll probably be scarred for life though with a fear of dogs.

  • http://www.krashthrills.wordpress.com/ Anthony Mandich

I think we should fuck that dog up

  • http://www.facebook.com/tiffani.kase.7 Tiffani Kase

And I wouldn’t mind if a stray bullet caught the idiot owner between the eyes, either.

  • brandi

Fuck your God damned dog!!! Go for the eyes !! I would snatched both eyes outta that dog right in front of his owner and told him to go fuck a goat!! Keep your dog up and away from people, and no one would have beaten it for trying to hurt a child.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1069158605 Randy Whisnant

So the dog has to kill someone first? Wtf is that?

  • Snickering x Hydra

A pit demon off its leash – really?

The things have already been proven to attack friends / family so the owner was curious to see what it’d do to a complete stranger? The idiocy of this is only matched by the following example:

“Wait up everyone! I just want to bring my shark to the pool. No, no – he doesn’t need a leash, he’s actually very frien…” *shark eats child*

  • Valerie

    The breed is no good.

  • Valerie

Come on, didn’t you see how that little girl was walking? She was asking to get attacked by that dog.

I’m seeing a lot of generalized hate for pitbulls and no one saying anything about just how stupid the owner is. Clearly he’s not training the dog, nor attentive. I’ve seen plenty of stories about pits, I’ve also known several pits, and nine times out of ten it’s the owners fault not the dogs. If an owner plans to use a dog merely for it’s aggression, then this is the result you get. I can’t be mad at a dog for doing what it was probably trained to do.

  • Andyman

MEH – Fuck a pit bull. No sympathy from me on this one. Oh and for the record, the owner is stupid too. That I can certainly agree with.

  • edward macaskill

The dog was protecting his territory !
    The dog felt threatened !
The dog is really good with kids!

  • Valerie

You know, there’s lots of stories on here of people ‘fuck[ing] a pit bull.” If that’s your thing. :P

  • Andyman

I have many things. Fucking dogs is not one of them although I have certainly read some of those stories…

  • Wolf_of_Mars

Don’t forget our dislike & mistrust of “Pit-Bull Apologists.”

None in the air, two in the head.

  • TinyCyborg

Almost nobody has their dog on a leash in and around NYC. Its completely retarded, not only because of crap like this, but because there is no stopping the dog from decided it wants to eat a squirrel and running into traffic. I’ve come to conclusion that everyone here besides me is a worthless moron. They also don’t like to clean up their dog shit, so every single block in Brooklyn is covered is feces. Not a day goes by that I don’t consider leaving poison dog treats all over the sidewalks of NY.

  • OutOfBubbleGum

    Everyone settle down.

This is a clear case of unintended lack of communication.

What’s missing from the story is the girl was carrying a 16 oz soda with the Pitt Bull uninformed about the law being struck down. I’m sure he feels bad, bad dog, but he was just trying to enforce the mayor’s ideal of Utopia.

  • boquist

Meli – Nine times out of ten…. that adds up to some significant numbers.
What I don’t get about pit bull apologists is why don’t they feel the same way about lions, tigers, alligators? Maybe they do though. Enough “proper” training, and the animal can be a sweetheart.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=534902588 Meli Machiavelli

I’m not apologizing for the pit-bull… I’m of the first blood/put it down approach. But I cannot be upset with the dog for it’s owner being an idiot. I’d feel bad putting it down… but y’know?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=534902588 Meli Machiavelli

I don’t. I laughed at the lady mauled by the monkey she decided to keep in captivity.

I don’t think domesticated dogs and wild exotic animals are the same…

  • EveryVillainIsLemons

Both the dog and its owner should be euthanized.

  • Athena

Am I supposed to take you seriously? Or are you simply preparing for a presentation on Reductio ad Absurdum?

  • Buffettgirl

So, the dimwitted owner thinks people should have left his little monster alone? I guess folks should have just let the dog snack on the little girl until he got around to addressing the issue? What a self-centered fucking asshole… Sure Creeptastic, your dog is WAY more important than the little girl in agony because your damn dog’s teeth are lodged in her leg…

  • newstarshipsmell

Wait, that law was struck down? I guess I should read the news more often.

Nah. I get everything I need to know right here.

  • newstarshipsmell

If it had its limbs and jaw ripped off, do you think it would become docile?

  • EveryVillainIsLemons

    The owner or the dog?

  • t0ofly

Obviously needs to be neutered. And have his dog taken away.

  • Wildheart

    Yeah eating them.

  • JohnQknowitall

How surprising… Thank God it wasn’t a Lab or a Poodle or a Chiguagua or a Lhasa Apso or Pekingnese or some other such breed… God only knows how it would have turned out. o_0

The owner of the dog was also present and reportedly yelled at the crowd to leave his dog alone, then put the dog on a leash after witnesses were able to pull it off the girl it was trying to eat…

Thank God a summons was issued and the dog was not put down. I feel better as does probably the girl, her grandmother and the other people “picking” on the poor dog. o_0

  • abbys_mom

Statistics don’t really matter to me. The problem isn’t that it’s not just pits that bite…most any dog is capable of it, even if loved and cared for from a pup onward in a wonderful home. The problem is that when a pit attacks, it’s to kill, and because of the strength, it usually manages to do so, or at least severely maim and maul the victim. A poodle can bite, and it will hurt like hell, but a poodle will not lock it’s jaws on you and maul you to death. I don’t care that it’s the owner’s fault…a lot of owners of pits who have been great, responsible owners have pits who end up attacking. To me, it’s the breed, and no one will convince me otherwise. I will not ever allow my child to be even close to a pit bull, as much as I can help it, and if my child were ever attacked, so help me, I’m with the guy in the video, I’d maim the shit out of the mutt before killing it.

  • JGo555

    What Sam said.

  • Whatevn

Honestly while its random it got hungry for 6yo, seeing as it didnt bite her hard at all, I wonder what its intentions were. When I was 8, I got attacked by a doberman rockwilder mix. My. God. I was alone too. It bit my shoulder and threw me around. Luckily it was winter time, and I had a big coat on, when it adjusted itself I got away, leaving my coat behind. There was no standing around while like this girl was able to do, it wanted me on the ground.
To let this person keep this dog is honestly crazy. Like, i dont understand the reasoning. I dont know how old this dog is but, at the very least it needs EXTREME training so this doesn’t turn deadly in the future.

  • G.I.R.L.

You see??? The owner allowed this shit to happen. I can’t stand people who have their dogs off leashes when the law is to keep it on them outside. I went running a few weeks ago upon exciting the park, i realized a pit was pursuing me until i raised my voice at it. It’s the simplest rules that remove most of the difficulty of life. I know you “think” your dog is trained, but it fucking isn’t. I have a Yorkie-Poo who is trained and once a pit ran from its owner and tried to attack me and my defenseless pup. I went bananas on the owner: control your fucking animal! If you can’t handle the responsibility of walking him with a leash then you aren’t capable of having an animal; specifically, one that can kill.

Then the owner had the nerve to say get off his dog? His back to severe I wrote that many of the people who buy pits but the dog to intimidate others. You can’t control your shit, buffoon.

  • G.I.R.L.

    Omg just like Newark, NJ.

  • G.I.R.L.

Are you responsible enough to wield a gun? Sure, you’d shoot the dog, but then you’d give in to temptation too easily and level the local park as well. You’re very dangerous.

  • TruTruTrue

WTF? What if it was the other way around? Here comes a little girl with her dear old granny walking down the street. Out of nowhere the little girl dashes across the street with her grandma in hot pursuit. She finally caught up only to find her sweet granddaughter stabbing the shit out of a pit bull with a rusty Yankees souvenir pen. When the cops showed up they took the little girl to Juvie until she turns 18. The Grandma was admitted to a senior home for endangering the life of a child who turn a pit bull into Swiss cheese and Mom had to pee in a cup once a month for the rest of her life, just because…

  • Wolf_of_Mars

You have no idea about my level of self-control overall.
Yes, I’d defend myself, or, another human, or, an animal being attacked. But, what you’re saying about my ability to correctly handle ALL manner of firearms borders upon libelous. I’m military trained & have been cleared by the FBI to have a Concealed Carry Permit. And, when I wore a US Navy dress uniform, I carried Marks & Sharps on the “Salad.” Very few sailors were/are qualified to wear them.

So, what are your qualifications to make such an outrageous prognosis concerning what you believe to be my inherent propensity to: “…level the local park as well.”?
Believe it or not, I’d even defend you… It’s part of my nature.

  • Wolf_of_Mars

    Yeah, it was. LOL!

  • G.I.R.L.

TMI LOL guess you didn’t smell the sarcasm coming from that. What the fuck; is it “Everybody gets easily defensive month”?

  • glitterpuss

I’m so sick of these stories. They need to start arresting in cases of gross negligence that result in injury to a person. Then perhaps these fools would think harder about who they subject to a deadly weapon.

  • LoKi4778

I caught the sarcasm… we’ve been asking for a sarcasm punctuation mark forever so it can be understood when we choose to use sarcasm…

  • Wolf_of_Mars

Careful, you’ll strip the derailleur gears right off of that bicycle from backpedaling so hard.

  • G.I.R.L.

Didn’t backpedal; I catered to other peoples sensitivity.

  • restlessvagabond

They should have beat the fuck out of the owner on the spot.

  • Sam

Huh, it’s just hit me. Grandma, little girl, wolf-like creature? It’s a modern version of Little Red Riding Hood, only the Huntsman forgot his lines.

Growing up we lived next to some chick and her boyfriend who let their female pit run loose in our neighborhood(trailer parks aren’t the classiest of places but they have the best drama) when I was six my older sister, a friend and I got cornered by this dog. Being six and scared out of my fucking mind by this giant muscled beast I ran like hell to my mom. The pit naturally chased me and tackled me to the ground. I remember it snapping at my neck and suddenly looking up to see my mother with a nail filled two by four beating the dog’s skull in. the dog apparently was possessed or something because my heavy weight mother’s blows didn’t kill it and it ran into our trailer. Lol, the funny part of it was that my cat at the time ended up jumping on this dogs back and ride it around the house screeching and hissing. This alone freaked that pit out and it ran home to the crack whore who owned it. I don’t have anything against pits, though for the first half of my life I was piss scared of dogs because of that experience, but i’m not stupid enough to say I can handle one. It takes a special dedicated person who has knowledge of the breed to raise one. fine, yes it’s humans fault the breed is bred with all sorts of rage issues but that doesn’t mean that some average Joe can just take one home without knowing what to do with the breed. People have pits either because they feel sorry for them, they want to look like badasses, or because they really know the breed and take precautions. Unfortunately, the first two are the biggest reason people get them and that’s why stories like these are around.

  • http://www.facebook.com/eugene.park.984786 Eugene Park

And yet you will have a million pit bull supporters here. How many more people have to die for this breed to go away???!!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/eugene.park.984786 Eugene Park

Your points are valid but this breed has done enough damage in my opinion. One life taken is too many and we have all seen a million different instances where this breed just KILLS anything in sight, enough with this hound from hell IMHO….

  • techsupp0rt

When pit bulls are banned, do you really think you’ll stop reading these stories, or will dumbass thugs find some other scary looking dog to fuck up? Be realistic about that, because there are a lot of very powerful dogs, and a lot of really stupid people hellbent on owning something that makes them look ‘tough’, and it will be something if not a pit bull.

  • techsupp0rt

How was this guy and dog allowed to just walk? How is it they aren’t planning on pressing charges or putting the dog down? Makes no sense.

  • techsupp0rt

Last 2 sentences sum up the whole situation.

  • techsupp0rt

Dogs are a good reason to carry mace. Especially if you have a dog that is trained to not stress about other dogs, but other dogs still try to attack it. Eyeball full of pepper spray curbs lots of undesirable behavior.

Owner have a problem with the fact that you just maced their unruly mutt? I’m sure you didn’t use ALL of the mace on the dog… just sayin…

  • Chixdigme

P.E.T.A. only cares about and spends millions protecting animals. Our children have no rights.

  • Valerie

I maced a viscous dog just the other day.

  • Valerie

Pit bulls are heavily overbred and very poorly bred. Most of the people that buy them want an intimidating dog and the “breeders” give them what they want. The original breed has been perverted to suit a bunch of low life thugs and the dogs suffer. Most pits need to be fixed and breeding need only be done by people that truly care for the breed.

  • Wolf_of_Mars

Some PETA employees don’t even do that anymore. In fact, they have Waffen SS-style mobile death chambers for homeless animals entrusted to them.

  • boquist

As soon as a pit bull attack happens, one type of argument is that the fault is with humans not properly training the dogs. I’m making the case that training has limits, that biology and breeding are strong and sometimes insurmountable influences, and that it’s simplistic to always refer to lack of training as an explanation. By looking at extremes, it’s undeniable that some animals are more inherently unpredictable and untrainable than others.
