Kansas City Police Believe Murders Of Tamara Sparks and Nicoleone Reed Are LinkedKANSAS CITY, MO - Police in Missouri believe that the murders of two area prostitutes are linked to the same suspect and that it’s likely there are living victims out there.

During a Friday news conference, a detective with the Kansas City Police Department said that the deaths of of 40-year-old Tamara Sparks and 24-year-old Nicoleone Reed are related.

Sparks’ body was discovered by two cyclists in Oct 2011 near Northeast 120th Street and North Eastern Road in Kansas City. Reed was last seen about Aug. 18 2012 near her home in the area of Independence Avenue and Denver Avenue in Kansas City. Her body was found Aug. 21 in a remote area of southeastern Kearney.

Connecting these two crime scenes is 92 Highway, a fact that police feel is a key to the investigation, as is investigators’ belief that the women’s bodies were meant to be found. They are asking that that the women’s line of work not be the focus point of the investigation.

“These two women were mothers, they’re daughters. They’re family members to someone,” Sgt. Doug Neimeier said. “And they are victims. It doesn’t matter what kind of lifestyle someone leads. High-risk lifestyle or otherwise. They are victims. It doesn’t give anyone the right to take a life.”

Although police have not determined how either women died, they are investigating both deaths as homicides. During the news conference, police gave a vague description to a potential suspect vehicle described as a white American-made pickup truck manufactured between the late 1970s and early 1990s with a bluish-green passenger-side door.

This truck was described to police by a third woman who survived an attack in late 2011. The woman also worked as a prostitute and woke up next to a gravel road southeast of Cameron, Mo. Police believe the man driving this truck is the one who dumped her there.

They also brought a size 11 Croc canvas shoe to the conference that was found near where Sparks’ body was found. “Somebody wore this for a significant amount of time,” Niemeier said. “Somebody will realize a shoe went missing.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474.TIPS or text 274 637 and include “TIPS 452? in the message. All calls and texts remain anonymous.

Here we go again. Someone thinks he has the right to throw people away after he has used them like he would a used tissue. I hope they get him soon.

YIKES! My bff lives on DENVER off of Independence Avenue! I had heard about this but didn’t realize where she went missing from. My girl needs to start packin heat!

I guess we found out where the Gilgo Beach killer lives when he isn’t on vacation.

  • daMonBrooks

There seems to be a serial killer of prostitutes that pops in up KCMO every few years.

  • SharG’z

I feel like killing a prositiute is kind of like killing a cockroach, or a spider…technically they’re Gods creatures but…

  • G.I.R.L.

Wow. The craziest thing i ever experienced in KCMO was when we had a fly infestation in our apartment apparently coming from the vents; turned out our upstairs Vietnam veteran neighbor killed himself.

This may be the very first comment, aside from my own, I have ever re-tweeted. Enjoy this cookie.

Did Reed have a sister named Nicoletwo?

PS- I love how the alleged killer wears Crocs, the ugliest shoes in existence, and the police make it sound like he’ll run to the nearest PD waving flyers around, trying to get his lost Croc. I’m sure that 2nd shoe is VERY important to him.

  • Buffettgirl

I wish these serial killers would come up with a more original group of victims. The prostitutes as targets thing is so last millennia…

  • SharG’z

    will do.

  • MommysLosingIt

Nobody deserves to be killed, or to suffer any type of attack. That’s a given. But when you’re climbing into a million different cars with a million different strangers, you’ve got to realize that one day, one of those strangers might just turn out to be a total sociopath. Again, not saying they deserved it, but their profession certainly didn’t help keep them alive and out of danger.

  • Heather_Habilatory

I’m sure when they were little girls, they were just hoping they could be a prostitute when they grew up.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XA4RDSRSUX3XRSCPRR7XNGSPUQ Joshua

Pedophiles, rapists, and child abusers all deserve to be killed. So don’t go throwing around words like nobody…some people deserve to have their ticket punched.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XA4RDSRSUX3XRSCPRR7XNGSPUQ Joshua

But it’s a classic. Prostitution is the world’s oldest profession. Killing Prostitutes is the world’s oldest hobby.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XA4RDSRSUX3XRSCPRR7XNGSPUQ Joshua

they probably did…those rap videos glorify the money a top dollar ho can bring in.

  • newstarshipsmell

    I know I did.

  • Buffettgirl

Oh I know, it’s just SO over done by now. I mean why not target drug dealers, or dead-beat dads/moms or hey, child predators… the prostitute thing is just too easy.

  • Buffettgirl

Seriously for about a year a very good friend of mine (we were 14 at the time and it was years before Pretty Woman came out) wanted to be a high priced call girl… Where does that idea even come from?

  • Twisted1

You know I thought you guys were bad. Until I went to a FB page called Overly sensitive military spouses. (Hubby works with a guy who wife’s post was put on there and he told me to check it out). At first I thought she deserved what she had coming, but those people went further then I have ever seen you guys go. So just wanted to say thanks for the laughs and thanks for having some class. Yes you can say some offensive things on here but your not complete douche bags. (Most of the time).

  • MommysLosingIt

I actually never said that. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to deduce that danger will most likely find you a heck of a lot faster, if you put yourself in dangerous situations.

  • MommysLosingIt

Ok, let me rephrase that: no innocent, non-kiddy-diddling, child abusing, non-rapist deserves to be killed and/or attacked.

  • midniteshadows

It’s interesting when mentioning serial killers and prostitutes that it’s kind of like peanut butter and jelly. That somehow the two fit together. The attitude seems to me that it’s no big deal. These were prostitutes which most of society deem bottom feeders.

However, what people forget is that serial killers are opportunists; whichever prey is the easiest. Prostitutes today, tomorrow maybe the 2 teenage girls on their way to a concert when their car breaks down, or a devoted wife, mother, and star employee on her way to a conference stopping for a pee break at a rest area. Just as not all the victims of Gary Ridgeway aka Green River Killer were prostitutes; but all of them were women.

What’s even scarier is that the FBI estimates that there are between 30-45 active serial killers roaming our roads. More women murdered and tossed aside.

  • Heather_Habilatory

    *rolls her eyes*

  • Heather_Habilatory

Most people who are prostitutes are prostitutes because their lives are fucked up by other’s actions.

  • Heather_Habilatory

I had a friend who purposely got pregnant at 13. Just the other day, I realized her daughter will be graduating high school this May. WE’RE FUCKING 30.

  • 18th40

Did you forget Pamela Anderson and Anna Nicole Smith ?

  • Heather4877

Perhaps gun runners? Seems like that would be a lot more challenging.

  • Heather_Habilatory

Yeah, put a little EFFORT into it!

  • Athena

Do you feel the need to make such a post when the victim is a cop? Firefighter? Glazier? Alaskan fisherman?

Yep, hooking is extremely dangerous. Thank you for your insight, Cap’n.

  • Buffettgirl

DAMN! Well, a good friend of mine became a Grandma at 39…

  • Buffettgirl

Evil Dictators? We’ll leave the good ones alone…

  • newstarshipsmell

Did you correct “prositiute” when you retweeted? Or put a [sic] after it?

  • MommysLosingIt

    Or their own actions.

  • Uncle Fester

Prostitutes are way above rapists and pedos. They are not hurting anyone (unless they have an STD, but anyone can get those) They usually are victims themselves before they turn to prostitution. A killer who targets prostitutes is a vile coward who is taking the easy way. As the article said, they were someone’s daughter, sister or friend.

  • Heather_Habilatory

    There are good dictators?

  • Heather_Habilatory

So it’s okay if they die horribly at the hands of a murderer. Because they fucked up.

  • Heather_Habilatory

I made my mom a grandma at 37. My mom had me at 17 and I “waited” til I was 18.

I’m locking my daughter up as soon as she hits puberty. We don’t have a very good track record in my family.

  • Heather_Habilatory

    yes, this, a million times.

  • MommysLosingIt

In my original comment, I explicitly stated that nobody deserves to die like that, or be attacked in that fashion. So, no. But it’s not horribly shocking to me when I read that a prostitute was killed by a john. It’s kind of a risk you have to take when you’re hooking, I guess. I’m about to climb into someone’s car who I’ve known 30 seconds. Hope this doesn’t end badly. Chances are your luck will run out someday.

  • newstarshipsmell

Yeah, like me. We just don’t have any countries. Yet.

  • newstarshipsmell

Sometimes it feels like it does take a rocket scientist.

  • newstarshipsmell

    Don’t forget cheap thrill.

To me it’s the equivalent of a copper thief getting electrocuted or a robber getting shot during a break in. They died committing a crime.

  • SharG’z

really, one fucking typo NSS? Really!! CTFU the grammar nazi rears it’s ugly head..which I cant even say because youre too much of a pansy to have an actual pic of yourself up as an avatar.

  • SharG’z

    dick

  • SharG’z

Not getting enough ^ votes this morning NSS?

  • SharG’z

Question, do you ever have an original thought or do you just weed through the comments and go from there?

  • Heather_Habilatory

Yes, it’s dangerous. So is being homeless. I guess all those damn homeless people can starve to death or die of exposure, cuz hey, they chose to do something dangerous!

  • MommysLosingIt

That’s comparing apples to oranges. The homeless aren’t breaking the law, or voluntarily putting themselves in very highly dangerous situations by sitting under a bridge or on a street corner. When you’re voluntarily climbing into a number of different cars to have sex with different men, in my opinion, you are kinda responsible for what happens to you.

  • Heather_Habilatory

Actually, homeless people ARE breaking laws. It is usually against the law to loiter in public places. And homeless people kind of have to loiter in public places because they live there.

  • Heather_Habilatory

So no. It is not apples and oranges. It’s the same damn thing.

  • newstarshipsmell

LOL! I’m assuming that question is rhetorical. Original, you say. As if.

  • newstarshipsmell

Aw, come on, Shar. That’s no fair, editing your comment after you’ve been called out on it. I can never get too many up votes, that is an addiction I will never seek rehab for.

I was going to say something to you about God’s creatures that live in our intestines and the routine genocide we commit every time we take a shit, but then I stepped out for a smoke and forgot about it, came back in and re-read your comment. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

  • Athena

Precisely why we need to legalize and regulate it. It’s insane that, in this day and age, consensual activity between adults has been forced into dark alleys, the back seats of cars and rent-by-the-hour motels.

  • Buffettgirl

Refer to response by NSSS… ;-)

  • JohnQknowitall

Nuns. I think nuns would be interesting.

  • newstarshipsmell

And yet, there’s a whole slew of people advocating for prostitutes and legalization of the profession… Copper theft and burglary? Let’s see if Google can turn up any (large) organizations that defend their rights to thievery…

  • Buffettgirl

Two years of Catholic school as a non-Catholic would have me agreeing with you. I have it – Evil Dictator gun-running nuns!

  • SharG’z

    …very good

  • JGo555

THe first thing I thought was: someone warn the girls that work that strip. We don’t need more deaths.

  • toady

It’s no where near the same thing. A homeless person has a very low
chance of getting fucked then strangled while pan handling. You can
dodge the issue all you want but prostitution is a highly risky
endeavor; if you do it long enough someone’s gonna assault/rape/kill
    you.

  • midniteshadows

I seriously considered it at 16. That was after the counselor didn’t think it would be a good career choice being a hitman for the Mafia or a B-52 Bomber Pilot. I’m pretty sure it was out of rebellion and maybe my parents would be so mortified they’d drop dead of a heart attack. I had issues at the time. :)

“Derek Richardson, 27, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of
abandonment of a corpse. His bail is set at $2 million. It wasn’t immediately known whether he has an attorney.

“We absolutely stopped a person who was going to kill again,” said Kansas City police Sgt. Doug Niemeier, adding that authorities will search across the United States to ensure there weren’t other victims.

Sparks, 40, was found dead Oct. 4, 2011, on the far northeast side of Kansas City, and Reed, 24, was found Aug. 21 in rural Kearney, northeast of Kansas City. Both bodies were in spots where they could easily be seen, with their pants pulled down and shirts pulled up.

Both women were last seen on St. John Avenue near Independence Avenue in northeast Kansas City,
where they worked as prostitutes, police said.”
