Female Body Found, Man Commits Suicide During Search For Missing WomanSANFORD, MI – A man committed suicide Wednesday when police arrived at his home looking for Leigh Swanson, the 45-year-old missing for over a week, and a female body was found nearby.

Swanson has not been seen since meeting a man online and going out on a date with him on Nov 16. Initially nervous about the date, Swanson went anyway and called her mother later to tell her everything was fine. Two days later, Swanson called her mother to say she would be home in a few hours. That’s the last time anyone has had contact with her.

Police ended up tracing the phone call she made to a home in Edenville Township. When they arrived at the home and approached the front door, they heard a gunshot and took cover. Shortly after, a man came out of the home while on the phone with 911. He told police his son had just shot himself. Police would find the body of a 28-year-old man inside the home. His identity has not been released.

Investigators would also find human blood in another part of the house that did not belong to the dead man. They began searching the area and found a woman’s body about 1:30 p.m. in a wooded area of a neighbor’s property, 30 ft from the road. The Michigan State Police crime lab is processing the DNA found inside the home and Swanson’s family will be viewing the female body found to see it is Swanson’s.

Looks like there won’t be a second date…

  • newstarshipsmell

Maybe. Maybe not. Was she Saved?

  • EveryVillainIsLemons

Oh, dear. What if the father did it and killed the son so that he could use him as a scapegoat regarding the woman’s death?

  • SellersC

    That’s exactly what I was thinking…

  • Coyote

So does anyone know if her date was with the father or the son?

  • OutOfBubbleGum

Me bad. When I suggested that his home and garden would look awesome if he did it in the Gunther
von Hagens and his exhibition “Body Worlds” motif, I guess that I shouldn’t have added “and a suicide right here would be the absolute bomb!”

  • nowitzki41

Yea, 45year old woman and 28 year old man? In a 28 year old man’s eyes 45 is ancient

Forensic science will likely tell us if that’s the case.

  • newstarshipsmell

    Maybe both?

  • Evan Oswald

maybe she pulled a knife on him (on the 1st date) and he peaced her out….

  • JGo555

    WTF?

  • JGo555

You watch Criminal Minds too, huh!?

  • LeaveMeBe

Guess you need a permit to kill a cougar in Michigan.

  • Wolf_of_Mars

Then you need to tell that to all the twentysomethings that keep hitting on my 55-year-old wife on her social media sites/profiles… Of course, she IS pretty hot… LMRAO!

  • Wolf_of_Mars

That was my first, albeit cynical, thought.

  • Heather_Habilatory

    bUAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!

    Nice…..

  • EveryVillainIsLemons

No, but in reality, parents have used their children as scapegoats in other cases.

  • JohnQknowitall

She disappears for 2 days after being on a date and then makes a call? Swanson’s family said that the site she was a member of was MeetMe.com. Her family also said her Facebook page just vanished shortly after her disappearance.

My guess is that she was terrorized for at least two days prior to her murder. How could anyone living in the house not be aware of her presence? Also, why didn’t her family try to contact her by cell when not hearing from her the next day?

  • Andyman

That’s why people shouldn’t have social media profiles. People wouldn’t stop hitting on my fiance so we got rid of that BS. Of course my ex girlfriend married my best friend because of Farcebook which is another of the many reasons I so vehemently hate that fucking website. Fucking garbage designed for narcissists IMHO.

Ouch. That said, the site is not what drives infidelity. Infidelity is driven by the individuals who engage in it.

People constantly hitting on a significant other isn’t anything more than flattery unless you think it will draw the significant other away. I hope, for the sake of your current fiance, you can get over your ex’s behavior. I was the girl in a relationship with a man who couldn’t get over the ex’s betrayal (this ex also left him for his best friend), and lemme tell you… IT SUCKS.

  • LeaveMeBe

Not you, CT. You’re beautiful but evil.

  • Andyman

Perhaps, and I guess we could just chalk it up to FB being the conduit for said bad behavior but I honestly can’t count the number of times I have been told by female friends how they dated someone years ago and were just told that that they just left their wife and wanted to re-kindle their shit from two decades ago. I’d love to see the statistics on this phenomena.

  • Athena

Oh, statistics definitely show that social networking sites facilitate infidelity. That’s a fact. But they don’t cause it. They just make it easier and more tempting for some. They make it more convenient to exploit already weakened relationships. But if two people are committed to one another, social networking won’t trump that.

  • Andyman

While they may not cause it, I think we both agree they can facilitate it. I have no need to visit anything Facebook.com/*.* your mileage may vary.

  • newstarshipsmell

Aw man, and here I was hoping the puppy photo was revealing a change of heart. :(

  • Andyman

Change of heart in terms of my feelings about FB? Never happening. FB is kind of like that back stabbing friend that tells all your other friends everything about you and then denies it. No thanks. I will upload all my personal info to Google instead. ;) lol

  • Wolf_of_Mars

Hmmm… FB is only a collection of written words & pictures: not an actual entity. It cannot cause the dissolution of a relationship. As Athena said: “…the site is not what drives infidelity. Infidelity is driven by the individuals who engage in it.” At best, FB is only a comfort conduit for those that are already unhappy in a relationship. And, in case you haven’t figured it out yet; unbridled jealousy is the fastest, most effective, relationship killer known.

  • Wolf_of_Mars

Yes, I think it’s pretty cool that she has her own entourage of 20′s-Puppies begging for her attention. Besides, it’s hilarious to see their reactions when she knocks them outta their own ‘lil patch of sky & they flutter to the ground in flames.

  • Andyman

Touche. I guess I also just don’t see the appeal to publishing all of your personal information to a third party. Once it is on the web it is pretty much out there for good. Google Porsche girl. So sad. But that is on there for good. I will pass..

  • Athena

That I get. But it wasn’t your Facebook page that was deleted, and it wasn’t because you were uncomfortable with outing private information. It was your fiance’s, and it was because (hopefully the two of) you were uncomfortable with your fiance being hit on. ;)

I just hope you didn’t demand an end to your girl’s page because you have trust issues. I think that’s what we’re getting at. Distrust and insecurity often provokes the exact response you’re hoping to avoid, in the long run. Breeds resentment on the other person’s part… again, in my personal experience.

  • Andyman

We both deleted our FB pages and doing so has strengthened our relationship. But I do get what you’re saying.

  • chgplz

    Defiantly a possibility

  • Mistress OfSubs

Not true. I’m 40, and the 20-somethings love me. You’d be amazed how many young men out there have fantasies about women my age. We have experience and confidence, and we don’t play mind games.

  • http://www.facebook.com/robin.tison Robin Renea Tison

That thought crept into my mind also

  • http://www.facebook.com/robin.tison Robin Renea Tison

oh crap im turning 40 this yr..oh well! i def at 28 would see a 45 yr old man as ancient so i agree
