Mother Arrested After Baby Found Upside Down In Car Seat In Motel Room STAFFORD COUNTY, VA – A “mother” in Virginia is behind bars after her baby was found alone inside a motel room in an upside down car seat.

Police responded to a Motel 6 around 11 p.m. Monday after receiving a call from the motel regarding a baby that would not stop crying inside one of the rooms.

“When the deputies opened the door, they found a 7 to 8 month old baby girl, strapped in a child restraint seat, now the seat was upside down on the bed, which obviously caused the baby to scream, was in some discomfort,” Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Bill Kennedy said. “When they turned the baby over, they found bruising and scrapes consistent with the restraints of the child safety seat.”

Aside from a crying baby upside down in a car seat, deputies also found a crack pipe sitting on a nightstand. What they did not find was the baby girl’s mother, 34-year-old Christine Clark. The infant was transported to the hospital where the girl was found to have cocaine in her system.

While the baby was being looked after, police began canvassing the area for Clark. She would turn up an hour later, running through the motel parking lot running saying she needed to check on her baby. Christine Clark, also known as Christine Maxson, was arrested and charged with child abuse, child endangerment and obstruction of justice.

Clark could be facing more charges for the crack pipe and if the blood sample taken from her shows she had been using cocaine or other illegal drugs. Her infant is currently in the custody of protective services. Don’t feel too bad for her, though. Even if she’s unable to get her daughter back, she’ll be back playing mommy soon enough. Authorities have learned that she is pregnant again.

I know it wasn’t one of my popular promises while running for President, but stories like this are the exact reason why I wanted all police officers equipped with wire coat hangers.

    Kill yourself, Christine Clark. SOON.

  • Athena

If this is a recent mugshot, she doesn’t look like long-time crack addict. How retarded do you have to be to develop a drug habit (like crack, especially) well into adulthood?!? Well, I suppose the same level of retarded required to get knocked up while actively addicted.

  • Simplyatomic

    Mother of the Year!

  • JohnQknowitall

Only if she was also breast feeding…

  • JohnQknowitall

The only logic that can be applied here is that the baby is currently in a safer place and that the fetus also is in a somewhat safer place. The rest is just a mess.

  • Heather_Habilatory

    Whorebag.

  • Simplyatomic

I thought it was obvious she was by the coke in the kids system?

  • http://www.facebook.com/brittany.lamb.104 Brittany Lamb

    Makes me sick

  • MyHovercraftIsFullofEels

Stupid whore, everyone knows you gotta take a baby monitor with you when you are smoking drugs across the way.

  • Patr1ckBateman

When it comes to having children, I really believe people have too much freedom. It’s so easy to do, and invariably the worst candidates for parenthood end up having multiple kids. Would it be so evil to have a law that dictates that you will be sterilised if you get your kid on drugs and neglect them? Obviously it’d have to be a little more in-depth than that but you know what I mean? I don’t want to try and create a master race, but a little eugenic intervention to stop these shit heads reproducing would be to society’s benefit, I think.

  • Clyde The Dog

Oh I’ve seen plenty of fat crackheads chicks, and guys. I always notice it’s the people who tend to have money to back their addiction, or a family that enables it. I was thinking too, that maybe she was fat cause she just had a baby and started the rockstarrin’ up again? But yeah, you’re right, there’s a dash of brain disfunction in there.

  • MyHovercraftIsFullofEels

I am sure that is exactly what the GOP is trying to do right now. First make it hard to get birth control, then make it hard to get an abortion, then make it hard to take care of your children by eliminating public programs for children (that will eventually include foster care) which will lead to orphanages again. Next thing you know its Gattaca.

  • newstarshipsmell

You’d give her the benefit of the doubt that she wasn’t also smoking her baby up in an effort to quiet it? Generous of you.

  • Rachel Ann

So like gimme a glue gun and like 10min alone in a room with her and I promise not only will she be sterilized for life but she will also have a new outlook on parenthood and what it means to be a mother. Trust me, I’m a professional bitches.

  • Evan Oswald

what made them think the baby was on cocaine? was it talking so much it annoyed everyone with hearing distance? was it chain smoking? Was there a line broken out in the crib?

  • Evan Oswald

lemme know if you need an assistant.

  • Evan Oswald

lmao and put the baby rightside up in the carseat

  • Patr1ckBateman

Hmmm, I don’t believe that’s the kind of future I am dreaming of. Not exactly. You seem to be saying that I am dreaming of some kind of elitist dystopia. That ain’t the case. On the other hand….

I’d almost prefer that to seeing things like this. I want a world where the responsible intelligent people have kids and the people who have proven to be irresponsible and harmful are stopped from having any more.

If you feel that this is the dream of a totalitarian crackpot, or an elitist freedom hating zealot, please go ahead. I respect your right to your opinion.

  • Evan Oswald

at least the baby’s head wasn’t cut off or anything. phew!

  • Evan Oswald

I’d be nice, however, if an intelligence and ‘work ethic’ evaluation were required for raising a baby.

  • Clyde The Dog

That scares the hell out of me. But I totally get what you mean. It’s like we hear about these repeat offenders doing this shit to their kids all the fucking time. And that with all the pain they cause their kids you’d think they would get shit straight. I know what you’re sayin’…what else to do? Rip the whores uterus out or neuter the fucker! It’s not a human thing to ,nor would I ever want to be in a world where that’s a punishment for being a low life, shit stain, but I get wall-punching-pissed when I read a story like this and then the “oh she’s pregnant” at the end.

  • Patr1ckBateman

Well desperate times call for desperate measures. You say it’s not a human thing to do, but what’s that? Showing compassion to someone no matter what horrible thing they do? If that’s human then get me outta this race.
This brings me to why I call myself a self hating liberal. Because I dream of us all learning and growing and showing mercy and being good to each other, whilst dancing in the green fields of pacifism, but I also know it’s a pipe dream. Never gonna happen.

    Ever.

Let the bleeding hearts do nothing, then get angry when that inaction leads to more misery, then do nothing, then lament and say “there’s gotta be a way to fix this”

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sarah-Silcox-Martin/1460419094 Sarah Silcox Martin

Morbid, just use the wire coat hanger on her AFTER the innocent baby has born. These poor babies can’t help it that their mommy is a cracktard. I have an 8 month old and I can’t even imagine leaving him alone and in distress like that. I wish we had public whippings like in Singapore. This woman is a perfect candidate for it.

  • Clyde The Dog

I don’t know, man. There’s got to be a better way though. If I had to make myself think about how to go about this kind of solution, I’d say give the woman or man a choice of a harsher prison sentence or sterilization. Like example, you got arrested neglecting to care for your kids while high again, so instead of the usual 3month sentence, (I’m just winging this so don’t bust my balls on tech shit, please) you could get sterilized and do the time or do a year and a half in state. I don’t know? I’m just tossing that out there because you brought up a good issue. I just don’t like the idea of making have a medical procedure, but a choice makes me feel better.

  • come_and_see

Crack is a hell of a drug.

  • MyHovercraftIsFullofEels

How many of you would pass the test to be parents? Who decides the criteria? Would a college education be a requirement? Why is drug addiction (a medical problem) automatically mean you are unfit to be a parent. What if you were dependent on life saving drugs, I am guessing that would make you unfit to have children as well. If this is a real consideration, let’s put some real thought into it. I mean there must be a solution that would meet the needs of us all and not destroy our civil rights, correct?

  • Patr1ckBateman

Ok it’s cool man. I am not out to bust your balls, just provoke thought. But I am passionate in my views. Thanks for entertaining my idea in your own way instead of just dismissing it completely.

  • Abroad

You think cocaine would *quiet* the child? Judging by how it affects adults……..

  • Patr1ckBateman

We leave it up to others to make laws and decide criteria all the time. Fact is, we already live in a structured system and the government already dictates what you do in your life. This would be just another beam in the overall construction. I got no problem with that.
NO, I am not worried about some kind of elitist nightmare world where only a tiny percentile are permitted to reproduce, or good people are barred from having kids.
I believe this would not be the start of a slippery slope towards such a world. There have to be some restrictions though. Give people true freedom, and they do shit like this woman has done.

  • Athena

Actually, her being “fat” had little to do with my perception.

  • MyHovercraftIsFullofEels

    Spoken like a true totalitarian.

  • Athena

It might be worth pointing out that he’s from Australia. There’s a far less dramatic leap from where Australia currently is to this sort of thing than there would be for the U.S., generally a much freer nation (depending on one’s perspective, I suppose).

  • Patr1ckBateman

    Thank you. *tips hat

  • Athena

Patrick – I would challenge you to find a government imposed a eugenics program without unthinkable atrocity associated with it. Perhaps it would not result in an “elitist” nightmare, but it would surely be a nightmare.

A look into the United States’ own past with forced sterilization might shed some light on why many of us are horrified by the idea and cannot understand how such a thought could be met with anything but sheer revulsion.

  • sam1211

Or maybe just second hand smoke?

  • newstarshipsmell

Good point – I should’ve ended the sentence with “…her baby.” But on the other hand, she doesn’t strike me as terribly bright, either. Wouldn’t put anything past her.

  • Sam

“Baby Found Upside Down in Car Seat” had me thinking the baby was restrained head down, legs in the air, in a right-side-up car seat. I can just see this crackhead trying to fasten the belts, too, cursing ‘those flaming Dumbo-ears’ and marvelling at the strength they pack as she gets kicked in the eye by one of those ‘ears’.

  • LuvsHorror

I really do believe in sterilization in people like this.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1266134051 Missy Lass

I was disgusted by the neglect of this mother but that disgust was compounded by the asinine comment at the end of the article about Police needing to be “equipped with a coat hanger”. How sad it is that even the people who are disgusted by the parental neglect will be soo quick to condemn an innocent baby to death because they were unfortunate enough to have been conceived by a woman who couldn’t get her “Poop in a pile”! That new baby needs to be removed from her care and placed into a good foster home that will love him or her just as much as they will that dear little 8 month old who was left soo casually strapped in that car seat! There are many, many couples who would be ecstatic to step forward and adopt them both. The fact remains that there are no truly “unwanted” babies. It is just a matter of connecting them with the people who are waiting to be their parents.

  • Chinchillazilla

See also: former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori, who forcibly sterilized hundreds of thousands of indigenous people into the year 2000. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he also employed death squads to kill political opponents. Dehumanizing anyone is a slippery-ass slope.

  • Athena

You must be new, here. We rather enjoy morbid humor or, in this case, Morbid’s humor.

As for the last portion of your post, apparently you have ABSOLUTELY NO CONCEPT of current foster care and abortion statistics. At any given moment, there are in the neighborhood of 600,000 American children waiting to be adopted. The vast majority, in the neighborhood of 500,000, are condemned to a life of bouncing from home to home in foster care.

If a child is a healthy, white infant… yes, their chance at adoption is high. If the child is unhealthy or un-white, those odds take a nosedive. The fetus in question, here, is in a crack-addicted incubator. The likelihood of it sustaining serious health problems as a result is pretty good.

Do you have any experience with a drug baby? I recommend you foster one for awhile or, better yet, adopt one, and then maybe your line about no unwanted babies will carry some credibility.

  • Chinchillazilla

Exactly. There is no shortage of babies such that we need to condemn any to being born addicted to crack. I firmly believe abortion is kinder than putting them through that, or even than putting them through the foster system in many cases.

  • http://twitter.com/christop999 christopher whiteman

“policemen should be equipped with wire coat hangers” ha ha ha love it….

  • Patr1ckBateman

OK I have been out, but I am back. Now to address some good points. Athena and ‘zilla, I acknowledge your wisdom in pointing out that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. Regimes which used sterilisation have invariably resulted in horror for all concerned. I have no choice but to concede that and I do so freely.
Perhaps pig headedly, I still hold out some hope that sterilisation could work if administered carefully.
Honestly I am rather conflicted in my ideas. I hate the idea of the state knowing what’s best for me better than I know myself. But at the very same time I believe that people need to be controlled, and if given too much freedom, they will simply shit on the floor and make the state clean it.
Ok, just two more points to add to your eternal displeasure with me
    1. To all of you people who are so against my ideas, I really hope that you have never wished for a criminal to die an agonising death or to be sodomised violently in prison. If you can smile at the idea of someone being tortured, yet recoil in horror at the idea of a state sanctioned sterilisation program designed to keep children from harm, I would be perplexed.
    2. What if this woman was in an accident that rendered her infertile? Would you be punching the air and saying “thank god this woman ain’t gonna have any more kids. I am so relieved”. If so, why???? Why is it ok for an act of god to do the dirty work but not the state? That would mean you want the job done, but don’t wanna get your hands dirty.
    Whew, I’m tired.

  • FrikkenFrak

No doubt. I always wonder the the hell is going through a person’s mind the first time they do heroin, crack or meth.

  • Heather_Habilatory

Hell, I’m from the States and think, in THEORY, it’s a good idea. look around once.

  • Heather_Habilatory

Seriously. What the blue hell does this website have to name itself before people will get the hint?

  • wastintime

I have a glue gun. I will happily sacrifice it for your little project. Right after I give her a good contact punt!

  • wastintime

My nephew was born addicted to crack, fuck, that poor little baby would scream for hours. The nurses said it was because of the addiction. He is now in foster care and has a crap load of development problems. He is 8 years old now. My sister is still on drugs and never sees him or her daughter. I can’t stand her (my sister) and she is not allowed at my house. She will never change.

  • wastintime

As much as I hate the idea, I have to agree with you. Most people like this “lady” won’t give up their drugs until they are dead. And they just keep having kids, usually those kids are born addicted, and the parents are given chances to get help. But they don’t want it, so they just abuse and neglect the kids until they are taken away from them. Or the kids
end up in the hospital or dead.

We are terrible, Sam! I pictured exactly what you did and was surprised to find out it actually was facing downward. I thought the stupid bitch must have put the kid head down with it’s feet sticking up in the air.

  • LeaveMeBe

Seriously. I still think we need the sensitivity disclaimer at the top. At first people like this were faintly amusing. Now their just annoying.

  • LeaveMeBe

Pssst. The wire coat hanger comment was gallows humor. And just an FYI, he didn’t really run for President, either.

  • LeaveMeBe

You mean like they did here?
    Topeka State Hospital
In 1913, the Kansas legislature deemed that habitual criminals, idiots, epileptics, imbeciles and the insane could be subject to castration. From then until 1961, when the inhumane procedure was banned, about 3,000 Kansans were medically rendered infertile, with majority of those castrations taking place at the Topeka State Hospital.
I am not trying to start an argument for or against anything, I just found it strange that I came across this snippet while researching some info for another article and after having read your comments earlier thought I would share it here. :)

  • Simplyatomic

I didnt think coke would quiet a baby? Tweek it out maybe, but not quiet it.

  • techsupp0rt

    Stole my bike.

  • David

Just to throw fuel on the fire here, I’d go a bit further with this (if the medical technology existed). I’d love to see EVERY human on the planet sterilized (there’s way to many humans around anyway), with the “antidote” given only once good parenting skills and a means of support have been displayed. Realistic? Of course not, but I’d consider it ideal. That helps in two areas. Well-cared for children and population control. Especially good when you consider that the population of the planet has more than DOUBLED in about 40 years.

  • David

… and oddly, I consider myself a liberal (left-leaning anyway), though no one would believe that from my previous post. Heh.

  • midniteshadows

Yep, I read through all the comments and this is just my 2 cents worth.

As for a eugenics program. The US did have a eugenics program, although it wasn’t called that. It was called State run Asylums and Institutions. At these institutions, those deemed retarded, unfit, uneducable, and so on, were routinely sterilized. It wasn’t until society and academia learned more about the “misfits”, that sterilization as well as lobotomies stopped.

Currently in the US, women are still fighting for the right to do with their bodies as they see fit. Look at the controversy -still- on Roe vs. Wade. We can/cannot have abortions, we can/cannot take the morning after pill, we can/cannot take herbal medicines to terminate pregnancy, we can/cannot provide contraceptive alternatives, we can/cannot provide sex education to our children. Get the picture?

Which brings us back around to babies and kids. Half the population deems ending pregnancies a sin and that children should be born. Half the population deems otherwise. (A bit of an exaggeration.) The problem is what to do with the children that are born.

The first child abuse case was prosecuted under “Cruelty to Animals”. It wasn’t until 1974 that the Federal Govern. enacted CAPTA – Child Abuse and Treatment Act. Someone correct me if I’m wrong – there are no Federal Laws regarding child abuse that a person can be prosecuted under. The Federal Gov. funds the States to enact policy, procedure, and laws regarding child abuse.

Now, let’s deal with the children themselves. Currently, in the US, we have CPS, Adoption, Foster Care – all of which sucks a donkey’s ass – but it is better than nothing at all. These archaic institutions are all about money. If child abuse cases dropped these institutions would lose funding. Which brings us to child care.

A child born of an addicted mother almost always later in life have mental health issues – conduct disorder (when the child turns 18 automatically becomes anti-social disorder), learning disabilities, reactive attachment d/o, emotional d/o, psychosis d/o nos, personality d/o, ptsd, et all. The US currently lacks or is severely limited in health care programs for these kids. Hence, we just recycle them through the system.

Someone once told me at the beginning of my career as a Social Worker/Advocate of Child/Adolescent Mental Health, that children don’t count. As children, they don’t matter and never will. That is until they’re 18. That’s when they get to vote.

  • newstarshipsmell

Haha, I get you. I was hesitant to comment above, but I’ll agree these ideas are very appealing. Also disturbing, I won’t deny that.

  • David

Is it disturbing that I don’t even find it disturbing? :-p Maybe the world would turn into a “Love-In”… (care)free sex for everyone! woot! Trust me.. there are far worse ways of destroying the human race. Nuclear annihilation… religion… etc.

  • newstarshipsmell

Experimental CIA-funded zombie plague outbreak. Oh wait, I’m actually looking forward to that one.

  • David

    You can keep your zombies.

    BUT I VOTED FOR HIM!

  • Heather_Habilatory

They don’t read that. Hudge is kinda scary-looking.

  • Robin Ellenberger

Its scary how many evil people there are out there and how they choose drugs over their babies … this lady needs to never get a chance to see her child again. She needs to burn in hell I hate her and everyone else who I read about on this site! If that bitch gets a second chance with her baby you may as well prepare for the poor things funeral… for real!

  • wastintime

I would have taken him myself, but at that time I had my own 3 boys. And my youngest was5 and he is special needs. I couldn’t give my nephew the time and attention that he needed. We see him and my niece all the time. I feel terrible that I couldn’t take them myself.

  • Heather_Habilatory

Don’t feel bad. You knew your limits. That’s a responsible thing.

  • Wildheart

And I pictured the child in the seat correctly, with the seat itself being face down on the bed.
“now the seat was upside down on the bed”

  • Gina Marie

Woww…..prego again….she’s is on drugs and I hope and pray for that and herself she gets help now if she’s ever let out of jail…she needs rehab and a long term supportive living program and til she gets better and stays clean she should have supervisor visits w the kids….

  • Gina Marie

I agree wit you. She needs rehab now if she leaves rehab then back to jail so the baby is safe til born…..
