Boy, 12, Killed Dog Because He Wanted To See It DieSalinas, CA – Police have charged a 12-year-old boy with cruelty to animals after he hanged a dog by its collar because he wanted to see the dog die.

Last Friday, police revived a 911 call from someone who hung up before explaining why they were calling. All they could make out was a female saying “he’s hurting the dog” before hanging up.

When police arrived at the apartment, they learned that the caller was a 19-year-old girl whose little brother had been trying to hurt one of their dogs. he began beating her while she was on the phone with 911, so she hung up and left the apartment with one of their other dogs.

The apartment was locked and the boy was not answering he door, so police used a pass key to gain entry. Once inside, police found a dead 12-pound terrier-mix hanging from its collar on the boy’s bedroom doorknob. The 12-year-old eventually emerged from his room and immediately admitted to police that he was the one responsible, telling them,“I was mad at the dog so I killed it.”

Police say he showed no remorse for killing the dog, adding that there didn’t seem to be any motive aside from the boy being angry at the dog and wanting to see the dog die. He was detained by police and placed in Monterey County Juvenile Hall for felony cruelty to an animal.

“I’ve been in law enforcement for 20 years, and I’ve never heard of anything like this involving such a young person. Obviously it shows there are some serious issues there that have to be addressed,” Officer Miguel Cabrera said. “Hopefully the court system will connect him to resources to deal with his anger.”

Do we see a future murderer in the making? Poor puppy :-(

  • http://www.facebook.com/Leashaness Alicia Lynee’

I wish they’d stop this cruelty to animals shit, where you mainly get fines & some probation. It’s bad enough most of the world views animals as lower than humans. This dog was like a child, it needed to be loved & taught, it depended on others to care for it. One of society’s most vulnerable creatures & he kills it for his own twisted pleasure. Throw this little shit’s ass in jail to rot, charge him with murder. He’ll be back on this site soon, probably for much worse. And I’m trying to understand how a 19 year old woman couldn’t keep the kid away from the dogs, and/or why she didn’t take BOTH dogs to safety.

    RIP 12-pound terrier-mix

  • EveryVillainIsLemons

What a vile little shit! Where are his parents? What can we do to keep this kid from becoming a fully-fledged psycho who goes around killing PEOPLE for his own entertainment?

  • kcjosh

I’m sure he will grow up to be a nice productive member of society. There really isn’t any foreshadowing signs when young kids kill animals for enjoyment…..coughBundyBerkowitzDahmercough….

I didn’t know Migueal Cabrera was a police officer. Offseason job maybe?

  • understandingoverignorance

Reading this story and this young boys response for the act I hope that his parents get him into some form of psycho therapy immediately because most serial killers begin there reign of terror by first killing animals. Jeffery Dhamer started in the manner.

Serial killer in the making just wait as this devil teen next moves on to his real prey – other humans.

  • Eliza Berntsen

Oh great, another one. Can we just stick all these serials killers in the making in one room and let their nature take it’s course?

  • come_and_see

I guess the only good part of this story is they caught the little psychopath before he started moving up the food chain.

  • OutOfBubbleGum

Living in an apartment with two dogs, training is a must; therefore, it is highly advised to not purchase your trainer’s guide from Ollie’s or Big Lots who only stock “Dog Training for Dummies – South Korean Edition” that specializes in STAY and PLAY DEAD. Written in its native language, when you try to read it, it will leave you frustrated and mad.

  • Pipsmom06

I have been out of school for 12 years now, but even when I was in middle school, there were 12 year olds with beards. And when someone is mentally incapacitated, there is no telling what they are capable of physically. My guess is she saved the one she could and got away. At least this headline didn’t read “12 year old kills sister”.

  • LeaveMeBe

I hate people who kill pets too, but I think you’re being extreme by wanting them to face the same consequences that people who kill other people do.I’m not going to try and be eloquent and touchy feely about this so I’ll just put it out there: animals are not people. I DO NOT condone what this kid or any other sick humans do to animals but let’s stay logical here. H needs punishment, he’s got deep mental health issues(obviously) and he needs help for that. I feel terrible for this poor puppy but I am thankful it wasn’t his sister or another human being.

  • Sam

“I’ve been in law enforcement for 20 years, and I’ve never heard of anything like this involving such a young person”
Really? Cause I’m betting it happens quite a bit, it just doesn’t always make the news in the same way. Or maybe true serial killers in the making are just better at hiding things in general and this kid was always going to be destined for failure.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1106642961 Alice Hennen

I don’t understand how the sister could just let the 12 year old do that. My cousin is nearly 12 and I could easily incapacitate him if I caught him doing something like this, with the knowledge that my aunt would be right behind me. Animal killers aren’t looked upon well in prison (they rank just above pedophiles) so hopefully someone who misses their dog will find out about him and well…”sort him out”.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1106642961 Alice Hennen

Jeffrey Dharmer actually loved animals and had many pets while growing up. He never harmed any. He was the only exception though.

  • Jury

    Kill him first.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jackson.murphy.7923 Jackson Murphy

Future serial killer but at least it wasn’t a human being. He shouldve watched the film Old Yeller

  • Wolf_of_Mars

All I know is that if he came onto my property & hurt one of my pets, I’d become “age-blind,” and he’d receive a .40 caliber enema.

  • Rachel Ann

Wow, glad sis was able to get out with the other dog coz aint no telling what could have happened had she stayed. This little Damien needs some major therapy and whatever else they can give him coz if at 12 he just wanted to see the dog die whats to say when he’s 18 he isn’t killing people to see them die. Fuck this is some scary shit.

  • newstarshipsmell

I used to wonder the same thing whenever I read some “worst crime I’ve ever seen” quote from some cop/detective/LE spokesperson. Then I recalled where I am browsing – the worst of the worst are what they look to publish here, so it only makes sense that they keep tapping cops who’ve “never seen something this horrible” before. Over and over again. Plus keep in mind the reporters naturally want to sensationalize the story, so if one cop acts sufficiently nonplussed about it, they’ll probably just keep talking to them until they get something quote-worthy.

When dog-hangings by preteens become so commonplace that the cop’s reaction in interviews amounts to “Meh,” then I will know all is lost.

  • Jill Stutsman

Nothing surprises me anymore. Especially on here! Sick fuck.

    Or Cujo!

  • LilHoney

A nice dose of shock treatment from Old Sparky ;)

  • wastintime

The sister was probably afraid of him. He was beating on her while she was on the phone with 911. I bet it was not the first time he has attacked her. The boy needs some serious help. Kids seem so angry now. Each generation seems more fucked up than the last.

  • Craig Ellis

Yeah there’s a sociopath in the making. Get his prints now.

  • CT

Where is the police officer that I read about yesterday that tased a 10 year old? He is sorely needed here.

  • http://www.facebook.com/unsound.enemy AngelEnemy Detrimental

You all see it. We all see it. Sociopath behavior, either a fantastic step on the necks of others businessman or serial killer. And since when is a 19 yr old afraid of a 12 yr old…just how big and menacing is this kid?

  • Andyman

Clearly the parents are completely uninvolved in this kid’s life or they are completely permissive and just don’t care. Oh and the answer to your other question? There is nothing we can do. Except wait and hope. Bet we hear about him again at some point too.

  • http://twitter.com/LaylaLolly LaylaLolly

I want to see him die.

  • Patrick Richardson

Looks like a little Jason V in the making unless someone, hopefully his parents, can turn him around. Being bullied comes to mind. Whatever the reason he needs to get help fast otherwise it’s eventually 3 hots and a cot at our expense.

  • Hellioness

He’s busy tasing people in my city…get your own lol

  • CT

I asked a friend of mine if she thought tasing our children was a bad way parenting. Bitch didn’t find it funny. I need new friends.

  • Hellioness

Yeah you do..I laughed. A couple thousands volts wont hurt ‘em.

  • Abroad

He wouldn’t kill your pet. That wasn’t his to kill; but he clearly had ownership issues with his own…….

  • Abroad

“He never harmed any.” …. that we know of?

  • Abroad

And one of the few tricks it teaches is “chop suey”?

  • LuvsHorror

Someday, it probably will be another human being. That’s the point.

  • LuvsHorror

    Or one shot.

  • ShelbySP

My worst nightmare is someone trying to hurt one of my dogs and me not being able to do anything about it. This little shitfucker just needs to be locked up. He made me mad with his sociopathic bullshit, how come I can’t hang him up by his collar?

  • LeaveMeBe

No, the point is that right now he just killed a dog and a dog is an animal, not a human. I’m not arguing the fact that he deserves to be punished and that he needs serious help, but he doesn’t need to be punished like murderers who have taken human lives. I already stated all of this in my comment.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cindy-Crawford/13964421 Cindy Crawford

She should have beat the hell out of him!

  • Jodie German

I’ve seen some very tall and stocky 12yr olds. Many 12yr old boys are taller than their mothers by that age, and who’s to say that the sister isn’t of a smaller stature? Combine size and a possible rage induced tantrum, I could see how a 19yr old female might be afraid. Not to mention that as his sister she’s likely well aware of what he’s capable of.

  • Kat

I was scared of my younger brother growing up. The age difference between us is the same as in this story. He was a little psycho that was never disciplined and is now locked up where he belongs. When he was 12 he would attack his siblings with whatever he had handy. He held a knife to my mother (although my mother is mostly to blame for his behavior) and he once punched out a window cutting my youngest brothers face because the little brother ran away from him and locked the door in terror of what the demon spawn would do if he caught him. There’s no shame in being afraid of someone like that, not in my opinion.

Aspiring serial killer. Rein his sick ass in now because you’ll be dealing with him later for sure.

  • Fire Fly

You don’t hang out here much, do you?

  • http://www.facebook.com/cheshiredreams Andrea Pizzuto

That is one obviously fucked up kid. I see what all you other people are writing. Killing a puppy/dog IS as bad as killing a human. Dogs are cognizant beings, they have thoughts and feelings. The absolute terror this pup must have felt.. his master watching as he struggled to breathe..Taking a life is taking a life. This kid needs to be locked in a mental health facility, medicated and therepized.. sick. sick. sick.

  • http://www.facebook.com/dumps.klown Dumps Klown

well now the little fucker has hundreds of people angry with him……….. does that mean we can hang him from a doorknob?

  • http://www.facebook.com/dumps.klown Dumps Klown

are you serious? ITS ANOTHER FUCKING INNOCENT LIFE! So little compassion shown, “Its just a dog”. What an asshole. Thats the fucking problem, people think animals are just objects. From my point of view, that little dog deserved to live a hundred times more than that little sick bastard. If they were punished properly, it would not happen so often. He needs to be locked up for some time, a good while to think about what he’s done and spend time learning about compassion. As well he is on a path that will eventually lead to humans being hurt or killed. “he only killed a dog”……..serious douchebag thinking…

  • http://www.facebook.com/dumps.klown Dumps Klown

yeah i guess scooping up roadkill and disecting it in your backyard doesn’t count since he didnt actually harm the animal………… geez.

  • JGo555

    Um yes, it’s called psychopathy.
My AB drove me insane mad whenever I had clean carpets and she shatted on the while I had crawly babies. I never hung her from her collar and it wasn’t because she was too heavy for me to pick her up.

    Welcome to Salinas…

  • LeaveMeBe

YES I’M SERIOUS. I take it reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Or were you just looking for someone to call a douchebag? Either way, hope you feel better after this little rant because I’m not going to explain myself again, especially to someone who basically just regurgitated almost everything I said in my post and didn’t understand a damn word of it, obviously. Piss off, donkey.

  • http://twitter.com/EmilyOfThePen ?????

I’m a 19-year-old girl with a 12-year-old brother. And if my little brother tried killing our dog and then beat me, oh hell no. I’d beat the shit right out of him so fast. This kid must have been pretty big to overpower his adult sister.

  • camperdude

Wish they could give his name, so we’d know who to look out for in the future. Without some serious, determined intervention, he’s gonna be a serial killer. Hope the family is armed.

  • http://www.facebook.com/RunamukRancher Beth Gallagher

At least there are cruelty laws in California, this kid needs to be locked up for good. He is the start of a dangerous serial killer..

  • neenaP

Oh just end him now he wont amount to anything but a rapist murderer anyway.

kcjosh, you idiot, who made you commentary king with your ignorant observations, ridiculously nonsensical evaluations and overtly immature opinions? You haven’t said anything that hasn’t been said before, you haven’t conveyed any intelligible ideas you’ve said nothing profound, or anything with substance and meaning, your not interesting, witty, cleaver or even mildly amusing. Why do you feel the need to keep talking? Shit, pull your head out of your ass and shut the fuck up already…….

  • newstarshipsmell

You’re supposed to hit Reply, dumbass. Or are you too timid to go off on @kcjosh:disqus to his face and give him the chance to respond?

Good point I suppose I was over generalizing. I did not look at it from a female perspective. she may have been a small girl too i suppose.
