Boy, 10, Shoots Sister Multiple Times Before Killing HimselfHUNTSVILLE, TX – Police in Texas say a 10-year-old boy was at home when he shot his sister and then fatally shot himself.

Sheriff’s deputies said that sometime late Thursday, Coby Tucker walked into his 15-year-old sister’s bedroom and shot her multiple times with a small caliber handgun before turning the gun on himself. The siblings’ father was at work at the time, but their mother was downstairs and called 911 after hearing the first shots.

Coby and his sister, Ashley, were flown to the hospital were Coby was pronounced dead. Ashley underwent surgery and is currently listed in good condition. At this time, police do not have a motive. “We have not been able to talk to the girl because she was in surgery this morning,” Detective Greg Williams said. “It is still early in the investigation, and we are not sure why this happened.”

Police did say they think that Cody got the handgun from a locked gun safe in the home and that, at this time, no charges will be filed against the parents. “There is no reason for us to believe that this was a case of negligence by the parents,” Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae said.

A neighbor of the family described both children as “happy” and stated he never saw this coming. Police say they have never been called to the home before.

Coby was a student at Huntsville Intermediate and Ashley is a sophomore at Huntsville High School. Huntsville Independent School District officials said counselors are being made available to students or employees who need support.

My sister was pretty rough on me in my early teens (hitting, name calling, etc) and I hated her so much because of it at the time. It was always over stupid stuff (computer, tv, not sharing playstation/snes, etc) which could of been solved by getting each our own. Parents always picked my side, etc.

It’s way different now (15 years later) and we have a healthy relationship (we laugh at the old stuff), but honestly she got me so mad that I gave her a taste of her own medicine and she stayed away from me for a week.

Oh heey it’s the kid from Insidious.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=534902588 Meli Machiavelli

    Oh so you shot her?

Otherwise, punching your sister in the tit isn’t the same.

  • OutOfBubbleGum

“got the handgun from a locked gun safe in the home”

Why not a bullet safe, too?

  • http://www.facebook.com/timothymatthewmurphy brain_bomb

Did this kid not show any signs? I hope he left a note because this is completely baffling… I hope that a motive is found and that the killing isn’t chalked up to the kid’s fucking gaming console.

  • tinalib13

How very sad for this family. I hope they can figure out what happened.

  • JohnQknowitall

I don’t doubt that the parents did what is considered prudent, but how did the child know where to find the key to unlock the gun safe?
I like to remind myself that in a country of about 315 million this murder was only 1 person out of a huge population.

  • sugarpie

Glad the girl is doing ok. But how sad to loose your little brother this way…

  • kimbev69

are they certain the kid did it? mom doesn’t have new b/fs or anything does she..i guess we will find out if the sis recalls…no neglect? umm how did he get the gun that is neglect

  • Andyman

It is amazing how simple things at the age of 10-16 can seem insurmountable. Fortunately they aren’t and things get better over time. Usually – although perhaps not for the young troubled lad in this story. I hope her sister makes a full recovery. What an awful ordeal for all involved.

When I read stories that say “gun safe”, 9 out of 10 times they’re actually gun cabinets (think high school locker) so any amateur can chop the padlock off.

  • SharG’z

Well if a burglar, or…for the sake of argument, Dane Cook were to come into their home and they of course needed to USE the gun immediately, it would be pretty tedious to have to remember a combination or find a key AND load the gun first, now wouldn’t it?

  • JGo555

Please let this all be an: “He sis! Look what I found!” *gunshots* “Oh NO! I KILLED MY SISTER!” *Shoots himself*

One big accident. PLEASE LORD LET IT BE AN ACCIDENT.

  • SharG’z

…you’re on the right track, with a little more studying and practicing you can execute a REALLY funny comment next time. Dont give up!!

  • come_and_see

Some safes I’ve seen use biometrics. Thumb print, wait 5s, boom — gun. Use a small one big enough to hold a pistol.

Also what happens if you don’t secure your guns properly? You get stories like these and then parent bashing comes.

  • Pyncky

    Little Willie shot his sister
She was dead before we missed her.
    Willie’s always up to tricks
Ain’t he cute, he’s only six.

  • Steinholder

It’s hard to imagine a 10 year old being this disturbed.

  • bethied

I think it’s a confusing as hell way to lose your little brother. I wouldn’t know how to feel if the little shit shot me up before offing himself…

  • bethied

Better yet, all bullets should cost five thousand dollars…

  • Nstdvirus

I’m glad the girl lived. I tell people all the time kids aren’t has innocent has we’d like to think. a 10 year old is just has capable of shooting you has an adult is, more likely in fact if they have a gun in their hands.

Edit: just thought of something else. Just because the police never had to come to the house doesn’t mean there wasn’t abuse, my mom was very abusive and the police never came to her house. Maybe he shot his sister cause, he thought could still be with her after he killed him self, in the after life, or he was trying to end any abuse that may have been going on for the both of them.

  • sugarpie

It sure is, especially if they had a fight prior to the shooting. But whatever the reason he did it, she will be dealing with some horrible emotions for the rest of her life. She’s not going to know how best to deal with his memory…

  • http://www.facebook.com/angela.m.almendarez Angela Marissa Almendarez

He didn’t show any signs, Coby was always a happy boy.

  • JohnQknowitall

Excellent thought: no one would store gasoline next to a stove.

  • http://www.facebook.com/timothymatthewmurphy brain_bomb

He was 10 and his name was Coby and autistic child can formulate rhymes better than this garbage.

  • Gee

I think what is disturbing is that this 10 year old never displayed any problems prior to this event. Hard to be believe maybe more will be revealed at a later date. Glad the sister is recovering.

Holy shit….This kid was 10? My son is 10 and this freaks me out. What the hell was the motive here? Wowsers.

You’re just saying that to conjure up another exploding house story aren’t you?

  • Gee

Are you wagging your little finger at me?? LOL

  • newstarshipsmell

Considering a single bullet can potentially end an entire life, robbing that person and his/her family of a lifetime’s income, I would say something more like two million dollars per bullet would be much more reasonable.

  • http://www.facebook.com/timothymatthewmurphy brain_bomb

Who has two thumbs and feels like an asshole? And who the fuck is Little Willie? I thought Pyncky just broke out a keystyle… I’m sorry broseph.

  • newstarshipsmell

Dude, trust me, I had no clue who Little Willie was either. But I suspected @pyncky:disqus was quoting, so I googled and found that.

  • Pyncky

I can’t take credit for that poem.

That credit lies with Jocelyn Henry Clive ‘Harry’ Graham (23 December 1874 – 30 October
1936) was an English writer. He was a successful journalist and later,
    after distinguished military service,

a leading lyricist for operettas and musical comedies, but he is now best remembered as a writer of humorous verse in a style of grotesquerie and black humour.
    Per Wikipedia.

  • newstarshipsmell

While covering my mouth and trying not to snigger? Yes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/timothymatthewmurphy brain_bomb

Yea a few quotation marks would have been helpful here. Little Willie doesn’t appear to be something that anyone over the age of 12 should be reading though. Unless there’s better material that I’m not aware of.

    *snicker

  • Gee

I was wondering what “Snigger” was LMAO

  • newstarshipsmell

    World English Dictionary
snigger or (US and Canadian) snicker (?sn???, ?sn?k?)
    — n
    1. a sly or disrespectful laugh, esp one partly stifled
    — vb
    2. to utter such a laugh
    [C18: variant of snicker]
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/snigger <- online dictionaries are always there :)

… but you know I prefer to share defs from Urban Dictionary instead ;)

  • JohnQknowitall

Guessing you are joking, but I could be wrong. :)

  • Gee

So you went for the less used word… Aren’t you smarty pants

  • Gee

So Mikey and Learned a new word today… Yay me :o )

  • newstarshipsmell

I was joking, but also sarcastically countering your suggestion that “no one would store gasoline next to a stove.”
That seems like common sense, but considering all the stories we read where the suspects/victims disregarded common sense… Well, if the D’D hasn’t already featured one idiot who has done exactly that, then it’s only a matter of time, really.
But I get your point. You’re just opting for ought vs. is here.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=736546181 Michael Heldman

The Urban dictionary is why I avoid the variations of words like this. Also, snigger is used as the verb. When it’s a noun you would still use snicker.

  • newstarshipsmell

Well, glad I used it as a verb then ;)

I actually did not know it was just a variant of “snicker” until I looked it up. I hate using the word snicker since it just makes me hungry for candy bars.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=736546181 Michael Heldman

Ha! I’ve heard it used before but it always made me shutter a little.

  • SharG’z

Lol see meli. It took gee a whole night & a day to come up with that one!! Are you taking notes?

  • http://www.facebook.com/minizilla David Richter

Google ‘Mary Bell’. She was a 10yo English girl who went bonkers in 1968 and killed two little boys. Also from the UK files, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables were both ten when they kidnapped, tortured and killed a little boy in 1993. It’s not common, but there are sick kids out there.

  • Steinholder

I snicker at your moronickness. Yes, that’s a word I just made up.

  • SharG’z

See Meli, it took Gee an entire night & a day to come up with that clever reply. Are you taking notes?

  • newstarshipsmell

Yes, we’re all pretty sure that @Grace413:disqus sat there staring at your comment for over twelve hours straight, her face and brain all screwed up tight, struggling to come up with something funny to say in response, unable to tear herself away from her computer and do anything else until she accomplished her mission. Not at all the case that you simply left yourself wide open with a low-hanging fruit that was practically laying on the ground, for some casual passer-by to simply kick aside without even reaching for it.

But in all seriousness, you do realize that double-posting your comments doesn’t make them twice as funny, right? Right?

  • ShelbySP

Getting punched in the tit is only slightly less painful than getting shot.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=606239068 Anthony Mandich

There has to be more to this story. Well, duh, I guess that is a pretty stupid thing for me to say right? But I do think that there really has to be something material and glaring that we are not seeing. Crazy shit.

  • Pyncky

How did you know I was wrinkly? I got the email with the comment before you edited it I guess. And I was about 12 when I first read those poems.

  • http://www.facebook.com/timothymatthewmurphy brain_bomb

I read in your response (via email, before you edited it) that you’ve been able to read for about 56 years… After you edited your insult, I edited mine…

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=736546181 Michael Heldman

Still haven’t found your way out of the woods? I thought you were “hardcore”, so why continue to prance around like a schoolgirl?

  • Pyncky

I posted my original insult before I read the rest of your responses and newstarshipsmells posts. So I deleted the nasty part. Peace?

  • http://www.facebook.com/timothymatthewmurphy brain_bomb

    100% Peace.

  • hookerpie

Coby must of been a master at picking locks too. If the gun safe was locked how did he get it. Such a shame all these young kids are shooting each other and themselves. Parents, keep your fucking gun safes hidden. You have to have guns in your home then make sure your kids do not know where they are.

As my Dad used to say, I’ll make you wish my parents were your girlfriend – wait, my Dad was much smarter than that – he actually used to say, idiots and lunatics see only their own wit.

Has no one seen Bowling for Columbine? Chris rock does a great bit on “bullet control.” It’s frickin hilarious, that’s where the 5000 dollars comes from. I’d link to the YouTube vid but I’m on my iPhone and I can’t figure out how. >_< I hate technoloQgy sometimes.

  • Athena

I’m well familiar with that particular piece from Chris Rock. Taken out of context, though, it sounds naive and maybe even a bit delusional. You may want to use quotation marks in the future if you’re simply referencing a piece of popular culture. Otherwise, it ends up looking like you’re taking serious political cues from a joke. ;)

P.S. What? You can’t just ask Siri? :P

  • bethied

Lol, no Siri for me. I’ve got the $99 iPhone, Siri is not worth the 300 extra bucks!

  • Steinholder

You know what, I was just having some fun, but it’s obvious you’re just a jerk, no matter who anybody posts as. I’m calling you out, you weasel dick. Fuck you, Heldman!

  • newstarshipsmell

Well, now I know where your 5K figure came from; your sarcasm was obvious, its source wasn’t (to me.) I just hope my reply’s downvote was because someone saw I was being a dense tard, rather than taking me seriously.

  • Martin Huizing

You his mother? Stories always run deeper than a news snippet. Sociopaths are very able to fake emotions. Maybe the kid was brought up with computer games and imagined himself in a virtual world. Maybe he had a grander scheme but got a wake-up call after firing those shots.
We will probably never know for sure. All in all, the happiest ending I can imagine (for such a horror story, that is…)

  • Gee

Bhwa hahahahaaa …… Come on you know I sat there all day trying to come up that. LMAO
