Kansas City Police Looking For Teen Who Knocked Bus Driver UnconsciousKansas City, MO – I cannot describe just how infuriated I get watching video like the one below. In it, a teenager can be seen sucker punching a Kansas City Metro bus driver, knocking the man unconscious.

The incident happened on October 1st about 9 p.m. at 39th Street and Indiana Avenue. According to Detective Nicholas Sola, the attacker boarded the bus with a several friends, each of them telling the 54-year-old driver the friend behind them would pay the fare. When the last of them didn’t have the money to pay, the driver told them to get off the bus. As the teens exit, one of the assholes sucker punches the driver. Hard.

The driver doesn’t get knocked out cold, but the older man is clearly injured and disoriented after the attack and can be seen rubbing his jaw and chest. He tries to continue his route, but as you can see in the video, he rolls the bus into some traffic cones before other passengers convince him to stop. “It seems as if he doesn’t know where he is,” Sola said. “It’s really heartbreaking to watch.” And honestly, it really is.

Police say they have received a lot of tips, but so far the person responsible has not been identified. They are asking anyone with information to contact the KCPD’s TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477. A reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to an arrest.

You know, me and my friends did a lot of asshole things when we were young. Some of it illegal. But had anyone in our group done something like that — sucker punching an old man — I’m pretty sure we would have kicked his ass on the spot. Or, at the very least, turned his ass in for the reward money.

I bet you this particular asshole is the one that fucks it up for everyone else. He’s the one that gets EVERYONE that hangs with him in trouble.
What a fucking asshole. If my kid did shit like that, his punk ass would be drop kicked into the cop shop.

  • Athena

This kid hasn’t been turned in. That means, his friends are ALL assholes. They’re not innocent bystanders… they know very well what this cowardly piece of shit is capable of doing, and they accept if not encourage it (which is the more likely option, as kids haven’t changed that much since I was their age). If this had been witnessed by my group of friends growing up, this whole “crew’s” ass would’ve been beat. “Stop snitchin’”? No, “Stop douchin’”.

  • EveryVillainIsLemons

Yeah, it’s pretty obvious that no one gives a fuck about what this shitbag did to someone who was just doing his job. Fuckin’ KC.

  • http://www.facebook.com/deadbolt85 Aaron Michael. Clark

Fuck these kids. That is all.

  • shadough

I really hope they get that guy. What a cowardly thing to do. And Athena is right – they were all in on it. The sad part is, they think it is a joke.

  • tkaz

I don’t know what happens to one when they’re punched, I”ve never been punched. But besides trying to get his bearings the driver seemed to be the most stoic man I’ve ever seen after being assaulted. I would’ve fallen on the ground & cried. I don’t know if bravery or strong work ethics apply here but they seem to.
I hope someone finds that kid AND his friends. They must have been kicked off before so maybe they’re known on the route??

  • Wolf_of_Mars

As with Morbid & his friends, If one of my friends, or I, had done something this messed up to someone; that asshole would have been turned in then & there, and we’d have thrown a party with the money. But the dickhead could have enjoyed the party too, through the pictures we’d have taken while he sat his sorry ass in jail.

  • Sam

I watched it with the sound off, but did it really take a full 35 seconds before anybody on that bus actually went up to the driver to see if he was ok after watching him get punched? WTF? And don’t tell me they might not have seen because with the ruckus those kids were creating i’m sure everybody would have been watching the front of the bus.

  • Sam

I know it’s not pc, but i have a real itching to smack each of these kids’ bums until they won’t be able to sit properly for a week. And then do the same to these kids’ parents. WTF kind of child are you bringing up who thinks it’s entirely appropriate to punch an old, frail guy in the face simply because he wouldn’t let you get away with something?

  • Andyman

It is never cool to sucker punch anyone, especially an old man who did nothing to deserve this. How much do you want to bet his father isn’t in that kid’s life? I think that is a big part of the problem these days. There are so many adolescents without a father figure in their life to straighten these kids out when they make bad decisions. I’d say if my kid ever did this…. But the truth is, my kid would NEVER do this because I make it known that there are consequences for bad behavior.

  • Transducer

And that’s what happens to cranky old geezer’s who ride the clutch and make herky jerky stops!

  • newstarshipsmell

Sorry, Andy, but considering the numerous stories we read here about “fathers,” I’d say the claim the kid is worse off in the hypothetical absence of his dad is dubious at best. If you want to talk more generally about the lack of positive male role models, well then, that I can probably get behind.

  • SayAunt

If I were queen I’d have the little bastard be an immediate organ donor with his friends on a waiting list.

  • LeaveMeBe

Since I’m at work I can’t view the video, and that’s probably a good thing based on everyone’s comments and Morbid’s description. How many other people were on the bus and what age range did these “kids” seem to be? I know people always say “I would have blah, blah, blah” but I seriously think I would have been the first out of my seat checking on the driver and calling 911 while instructing someone to follow the kids or tend to the driver while I raised a damn ruckus outside to get everyone looking at the little hoodlums. Usually I react on auto pilot and process it as I go. One of these days it may get my ass beat or shot, but I just can’t help it.

  • OutOfBubbleGum

Thank God for ObamaCare ‘cause I know one deviant child without healthcare whose going to end up in a hospital with a Boxer Fracture which will end any of his attempts in the future to defend himself.

    Here you go, LMB:

  • kcjosh

I hate seeing my city in the news for shit like this. Fucking scumbag assholes like that need to be locked up.

  • buhbam

    Inappropriate but funny as fuck!

  • Rachel Ann

What a bunch of assholes. I have a son and IF he EVER did something like this or was with someone who did this and didnt intervene…there would be hell to pay.
Parents need to hold their kids accountable for the shit they do.

  • JohnQknowitall

When I was young we did crazy shit too, but never something like that… Attacking someone would be immediate if not gradual on a fast track ostracism. My parents would have also turned my ass into the authorities when my pic turned up on the news.

  • sleevienicks

I’m in KC too and it seems to be in the news for this type of bullshittery quite a lot. Remember a couple of months back when the authorities found that little girl being kept in the closet by her “mother”? *Shudders* I am really hoping someone flips on these douchecanoes and turns them in, but I’m not holding my breath. That poor bus driver!! The city needs to invest in some plexiglass caging around the drivers area or something to protect them from this sort of thing. It happens often!

  • Coyote

Any word on how the driver is doing now?

  • Transducer

    Dark humor : )

  • shadough

You know, the article states he is only 54 which is hardly geezerville! But he does seem a lot older – maybe because of the punch.

  • LuvsHorror

Low life shitbags. Bunch of little pansies.

  • Andyman

I’ll agree with you that we don’t know if his dad is around but I found this interesting and is where I was coming from:

Data from three waves of the Fragile Families Study (N= 2,111) was used to examine the prevalence and effects of mothers’ relationship changes between birth and age 3 on their children’s well being. Children born to single mothers show higher levels of aggressive behavior than children born to married mothers. Living in a single-mother household is equivalent to experiencing 5.25 partnership transitions.*

A study of 1,977 children age 3 and older living with a residential father or father figure found that children living with married biological parents had significantly fewer externalizing and internalizing behavioral problems than children living with at least one nonbiological parent.

  • Pyncky

To all of those opposed to abortion. This is a kid that should have been aborted. Choose life? I don’t think so. Now I understand why some animals eat their young.

  • Doctor Dick

Maybe they should have separate buses for apes.

  • Rachel Ann

I wanna say this to people sometime but I know they’ll think I’mma bitch so I just think it too myself lol

  • BEastDuo

I didn’t have a father figure in my life, but my mom for damn sure would have bounced my ass from here to texas if I ever did a thing like that.

  • LeaveMeBe

I haven’t seen Ced or DKOS in quite awhile either. Sorry. :(

  • newstarshipsmell

I didn’t see Snark’s comments on the matter, but others said she stated previously that she was going to be absent for an extended period of time. Not sure but I think she may have gone on a long-ass vacation or moved (she was talking about relocating to West coast.) She hasn’t posted since early June. Maybe she changed jobs and doesn’t have time to comment or has access from work blocked. (Regardless, she’s sorely missed.)

Cedric has been on and off more recently – he was around end of August. He had some trouble logging in with his Yahoo profile for awhile, but seemed to get it fixed. No clue though.

  • newstarshipsmell

” Now I understand why some animals eat their young.” No, that’s because children are delicious.

  • Transducer

Alright, show yourselves you five spineless twits who gave this joke a thumbs down! Can you come up with a better dark joke making light of an unfortunate event? I didn’t think so. Are you sufficiently retarded enough to believe I meant this comment? Quite possibly. Are you dense enough to misunderstand anything said tongue and cheek? Probably. In short, fuck the five of you and the inbred horses you rode in on!. :P

  • xtinaway

what the fucking fuck?!!? he looks so badass in his goodwill hollister hoodie. i hope they turn his punk ass in!!!

Michael Cubie, an 18-year-old from Kansas City, has been charged with “Assault with Intent to Commit Bus Hijacking” and third degree assault. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on October 1 when Cubie was caught on bus surveillance cameras sucker punching a KCATA bus driver. He told authorities he had committed the assault because he was having a bad day.
    [...]

Among a group of five witnesses that made up the group asked to leave, two of them stated that Cubie told the group he intended to assault the driver by punching him in the face. All five said that they had not paid for their bus fare and all of them identified Cubie from a photo line-up as the person who assaulted the driver.

  • newstarshipsmell

Oh, thank {insert-preferred-higher-power-here}, he’s 18. No juvenile prosecution for him. Now he’ll get to learn what a really “bad” day is, over and over again. Slim kudos to the two that fessed up, but still, fuck them for allowing him to follow through on his stated plan. I’ll bet both of them wanted to see him do it and get himself into trouble.

  • tim tourne

good update. this asshole looks like trayvon :)
