Video Captures Elderly WWII Vet Being Choked Then Robbed

Chicago, IL – Here’s a story that is going to get some of you angry, especially Jaded. Police have released video footage of two men violently robbing an 86-year-old WWII vet in the lobby of his apartment building.

Police say the victim had just finished running some errands, including a stop at the bank, when a shuttle van dropped him off at his building.

As seen in the video, once inside, the elderly man is grabbed from behind and choked until he passes out. A second man then takes $500 hidden in the victim’s shoe. After searching the man, his attackers drop him on the floor, letting the door close on his head.

“This is one of those crimes that hits us at the pit of our stomach,” Chicago Police Officer John Mirabelli said.

The victim, who served in the South Pacific during World War II, was treated and released from the hospital. He said he is thankful for police and their continued efforts to capture these two men, and thankful all he lost that day was his money.

“I just take it with a grain of salt and keep on stepping and I don’t let that bother me because I’ve got my life, I can always get more money,” he said. Does anyone else read something like that and realize that once his generation is in the ground, we will have lost one of the toughest group of SOBs the United States has seen in a couple hundred years?

Anyway, the incident happened back in April, but police are releasing the surveillance footage now to help generate more leads and help identify the man’s attackers. They are asking the public to watch the video and if anyone recognizes the men, call 1-800-535-STOP or Area Central detectives, at (312) 747-8382. There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to arrests.

Elder crimes are terrifying. I have been mugged before (I still have a few decades before I fall into elderly) on the street and it is disconcerting for months following the incident (i.e., the crime does not stop after the attack). I am not sure why anyone would carry $500 cash on his person, but that is really none of my business.

A senior once told me to hide money in my sock or underwear when carrying large amounts of cash. He told me to carry
$27 in loose dis-shuffled bills in my pockets. This worked for me along with “take whatever you want, but please don’t hurt me.”

I will not watch the video. I am getting teary and pissed off after just reading the article. I mean, I know there will always be crime, but do any of those people have any morals at all? Do they feel any remorse? I am just blown away every time I read about an elderly person being attacked. Someone broke into my house about a year and a half ago (before I moved to this place that I live now). I was terrified to leave my house after it happened. Every time I came home from the store I was afraid of wither catching someone in the act or finding more shit gone. Who ever is was ransacked my house, he/she/they even pulled all of my panties out of my drawer. I don’t know why that fact freaks me out so much, I guess it’s just that I don’t go around showing those things to people and some strange person had their hands all over my clothes (I threw them out and bought new ones). I was so glad to move out of that place.

The video shows the muggers coming from inside the building. One of the muggers walks past the old guy first to check if anybody else is coming in the door behind him, then backtracks and attacks him.

This does push a lot of buttons for me. My father-in-law, who I admire and adore, is 89 years old and served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.
These men served their country – our country with honor and apparently lived honest lives. To be assaulted and robbed by two limp-dick pussies, who should be harvested for whatever organs they have that are usable and then thrown away to be feasted on by maggots, is an insult to all of us. An insult to humanity. I think these two wasted abortions are just as bad as the baby rapers and child killers who prey on someone weaker than they are. In retrospect, it is also an insult to the maggots.

I would bet money that they would not have even tried that when the man was combat aged, even at two to one. Too big of a chance of getting their cowardly useless thieving waste of protoplasmic asses handed to them.

I hope they are found quickly and sent away to some cell-block with real hard asses who have grandfathers the same as the vics.

I do find it appropriate that the reward for find and/or capture is TWICE what they got off the old guy. If I knew the particulars I would sent the vet the $500.00 that he lost, myself.

For them to know to follow him and know that he hid money in his shoe, I wonder if someone he knows put them on this trail.

And Morbid’s right. My dad was a WWII vet…my grandfather, a WWI vet, and they were both tough as nails. Now we have entitled “tough guys” like these chumps, ganging up on a guy 2-3 times their age instead of working for what you want.

hey guys, my 89 year old grandfather-receiver of the purple heart and just about every other medal you can think of, was accosted outside a restaurant earlier this year. The “perpetrator” who was on a bike, tried to take his wallet. My Grandfather started fighting him and then my 84 year old grandmother started clawing him with her fingernails. Go Granny, Go Granny……..bad guy ended up riding off into the sunset, walletless, prideless and bleeding. ahhhhh the sounds of sweet justice.

I couldn’t agree more. My grandparents had friends signing up for the war at the age of 14!! My grandpa at 17. They obviously lied about their age to get accepted but the point being a 14 yr old was tough enough to fight a bloody battle. Put a modern day 14 year old on a battlefield, first bullet that goes by,…wet pants and tears. It is sad because these people built what we have today and it is gradually being destroyed by the cowards like the ones in this post.
