Burglary Suspect Busted After Leaving His Homework At Crime SceneOREM, Utah – I’m sure most of us have heard or used almost every excuse known to man regarding missing homework, but a teen in Utah had an excuse for his missing homework that was as stupid as it was valid — police were holding it as evidence.

Early Saturday morning, police responded to a residence and met a 75-year-old man and his wife who said they woke up to sounds of someone inside their home. When the elderly man went to investigate why a light was on in his office, he encountered a teenager rifling through his desk.

Caught red-handed and cornered, the teen punched the old man in the face before fleeing the scene on foot.

“He hit me in the eye, broke my glasses,” the victim said. “Then he hit me a second one right there in the eye too.”

As police looked around the scene, they found the burglar had entered the home through an unlocked window. They also found an abandoned backpack in the man’s backyard that contained an item that helped speed up their investigation substantially.

The backpack contained a USB drive with 18-year-old Dallas Naljahih’s homework on it.

Police made a visit to Naljahih’s home and found him sleeping on the couch along with a camera stolen from the victim’s home. Naljahih was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, assault, and drug possession.

Before he went to jail I hope they let the the older gentleman punch him in the sack.

  • CT

Based on his extraordinary level of stupidity – it appears being in school is not helping Dallas.  I am voting to add inane first names in addition to the DFH (douchebaggery facial hair) theory as yet another possible precursor to dumb ass behavior

If this piece of shit is an American, then throw him in jail. If not, then throw his family and him back to the shit hole from which they came.

This kid is violent. Good bye.

  • JohnQknowitall

Better: Tie him to the front the older man’s car. Hope the little bastard doesn’t block the driver’s view.

This must be MO-RON week on DD.

  • DangerousKindOfSnark

You know what? Fuck it, at least he did his homework.

    You crack me up! lol

    What if it wasn’t finished?

  • EveryVillainIsLemons

What kind of idiot takes his backpack when he robs a house?

“Oh, gee, I need to get home and finish my homework, but I want to break into that old couple’s house and see if they have anything I can sell on Craigslist.  What to do?”

  • newstarshipsmell

My guess is, he brought the backpack for anything he might find too big/awkward to hand-carry home.

Whether he brought it in to the house and dropped it during his escape, or left it outside and forgot about it during his escape… well, either way – what a retard putting anything inside it that could be personally linked to himself. The only thing that would make this funnier if is he had had CP on the thumbdrive too (that he downloaded from the internet – since creating CP is never funny.)

  • Sam

Dear, sweet, naive Tina. Moron WEEK??? ;)

  • Sam

I guess nobody told him that when you progress from hallway-bullying to full blown robbery, your victims don’t usually do your homework for you.

  • JGo555

    He IS Asian looking…

What? YES I WENT THERE. SUE ME.

  • JGo555

He did his homework, he was awake at a time that teenagers are usually asleep & he was IN HIS PARENTS’ house asleep.

He has a chance. That’s all I’ll give him.

That’s what I’m saying. He did his homework BEFORE breaking in and stealing the camera. This young man has his priorities in the right order. Gold star!

  • Heather_Habilatory

I’m just glad he isn’t named Dakota!

  • CT

I remember reading somewhere that someone named their son, Batman.  Nice one.  Way to ensure that your child will get his ass kicked for quite some time in the future.

  • Heather_Habilatory

Less than the kid named Adolf Hitler, but still, a lot.

  • http://twitter.com/tinalib13 Tina Wech

You know, I thought of that as soon as I posted my comment!! lol Now I’m the mo-ron. lol

  • LeaveMeBe

I was wondering what grade he will get when he turns it in.

Yet more proof that the public education system is failing our young people.

  • curiousalways

maybe he’s one of your students and you drove him to a life of drugs and crime!   hehehehe   you know I’m kidding!

Nahhh take back his gold stars he had a cookie BEFORE dinner.

    LOL!

  • onlyme356

What’s with one side of his face looking green? When you enlarge the photo you can see he’s got some facial issues! Anyway, I hope they are bruises for the beatdown the cops should have given him. I think if I saw his ass asleep on the couch with the old man’s camera I would have violently shooken him, slammed him on the ground, gotten some kicks and punches to the face and head, then taken a picture of him. Maybe I’d be nice enough to put a copy in his USB drive for him too.

  • RydoLarsson

lol why the fuck would you take a backpack with personal stuff innit along to a burglary lol and 18 he looks in his mid 30′s lol

  • Shelby Burns

I second that motion. My cousin is a social worker in the local juvenile justice department and she’s got a theory on inane/misspelled names leading to a life of crime.

  • Sam

Excess tea tree oil to battle puberific skin conditions?

  • DangerousKindOfSnark

There was an interesting study done that address that issue and it’s not so much the name, but the type of person and the social and economic situations of the family who names their child in a manner that is different. So a girl named Mary Williams and a girl named Unekee Williams who are born in the same neighborhood and into the same familial and economic circumstances, they would likely have similar life outcomes. However, parents who name their child Mary generally don’t live in the same circumstances as the parents who name their child Unekee.  That’s why, on average, a boy named Jake will tend to earn more money and get more education than a boy named DeShawn. DeShawn’s name is an indicator—but not a cause—of his life path.

Have you seen the HBO special or maybe it was Showtime? from the book Freakonomics?  The brothers named  Winner and Loser were featured – well, only Loser.  Loser is in law enforcement with Winner being on the “losing” end of law enforcement.

  • DangerousKindOfSnark

Oh my yes, I LOVE Freakonomics. It’s right up there with TED Talks as one of my favorite things ever.

  • CT

Thanks for the heads up on the Ted Talks.  I’m listening to Jill Bolte’s stroke of insight.

  • DangerousKindOfSnark

No problem, TED is one of the best things about the internet.
