Possessed Woman Charged With Slitting Her Babys ThroatCAMDENTON, MO – Police have charged a woman with first degree assault and armed criminal action after she slit her baby’s throat. This came months after she told a minister she was possessed by demons and was afraid she was going to hurt her daughter.

According to the probable cause statement, Tyler Tebrock called police to report that his mother, 39-year-old Bradie Simpson, and his 9-month-old sister were missing. He was concerned because he had found blood and a bloody knife in his mother’s bedroom.

Police searched the area and would find Simpson holding her blood-soaked baby in some woods nearby a few hours later. The infant was unresponsive, suffering from a neck wound and Simpson would not say a word to police.

They were both rushed to the hospital where the baby underwent emergency surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. Doctors say that had it not been for the cold weather and the quick responses of all involved, the little girl would have probably died.

So far no motive has been given, but police did find a plastic baggie and two spoons in her room, one of which tested positive for heroin. There’s also the fact that at one point, Simpson thought she was demon possessed.

Last October, Simpson walked into First Baptist Church of Camdenton and handed the pastor her baby telling him that she was possessed by demons and feared she would kill her baby.

“She more or less just tossed her baby into my arms and said, ‘Tie me down, tie me up’ and said ‘Possession, possession,’” Rev. Bob Aubuchon said. ”Then she said, ‘I’m being demon possessed,’ and about that time, she put her hand over her mouth and wouldn’t say anything else,” Aubuchon added.

He decided that some mumbo jumbo prayer and saying abracadabra quoting scripture was the best way of to help Simpson in her time of need, but Simpson grabbed her baby back from the crazy man and left.

Wow.  Were I the minister, I would have made a call to CPS and checked back to make sure the baby was okay.  I’ll bet he feels stupid now.

That Heron will do it to u every time.. Them cops should’ve just came out from the woods with just the baby.. Shoot this dam derelict!!!

I always wanted to believe that help was available to people like this woman, but obviously not.  The pastor did notify DFS who was aware that this woman had some major issues, yet they left the baby in her care anyway.

Give the Bitch due credit – she warned people and no one listened to her.Plus various demons do in fact walk the earth, but most likely  “her” particular demons were loaded onto those found spoons, and injected into her body.

The evil herioin demon is plagueing the earth.  So we’ve been going about rehabilitizing heroin addicts all wrong.  We should be exorsizing them instead of rehabilitating.

So glad the baby is alive, however that scar will have to be explained one day : (

  • Smileypants

That was my thought exactly. What if she said she had been raping the baby?? He still would’ve just prayed and not said a word to the cops??
I know medical personnel and teachers have mandatory reporting, but doesn’t pastors also?? I’m not sure, but I thought they did…..

No they actually are not … you are supposed to be able to tell them anything and not worry about their snitching you out … kinda like Attorney/client privilege.

“Mandatory reporting statutes also may specify when a communication is privileged. “Privileged communications” is the statutory recognition of the right to maintain confidential communications between professionals and their clients, patients, or congregants. To enable States to provide protection to maltreated children, the reporting laws in most States and territories restrict this privilege for mandated reporters. All but three States and Puerto Rico currently address the issue of privileged communications within their reporting laws, either affirming the privilege or denying it (i.e., not allowing privilege to be grounds for failing to report).7For instance:
The physician-patient and husband-wife privileges are the most common to be denied by States. The attorney-client privilege is most commonly affirmed. The clergy-penitent privilege is also widely affirmed, although that privilege usually is limited to confessional communications and, in some States, denied altogether.”

A similar story was posted in the D’D forum some time back.  One of the comments in response was:

“How come the demons always tell them to hurt the baby?!?  How come the demons never tell them to clean the fucking house?!?”

I wish that I could recall who said it.  If you are reading this, it is time to take a bow.

I fucking hate all “men of the frock” (all religions) that don’t fucking think that someone saying that they hear voices IS A RED FLAG.

They should ALL take a fucking semester full of classes with ONE subject: PSYCHOLOGY.
NO ONE can get to their prefered deity WITHOUT BEING ON MEDICATION/THERAPY/OFF DRUGS. It also applies to “forgiving your enemy/molester”. NO ONE can forgive THAT type of shit until THERAPY & some sort of PUNISHMENT can be administered to the victim & the aggressor,

If anyone tells me they’re possessed you BET YOUR ASS I’m calling the health nurse & telling them about the person & calling THE COPS & telling them about them too.

He doesn’t feel stupid because he thinks that GOD fixes everything. I’m of the mind that thinks that if it’s been able to be concieved/explored is cause God decided to.

In other words: if the human was able to explore the human psychology IS CAUSE GOD let him. Motherfuckers, GOD gave us pyschology & the evolution chain!!!

That only applies to Catholic priests and in the context of confession.

Actually, the minister did call 911 (according to the article below) although he does regret not doing more. They checked it out and thought it was all A-OK.

  • Anonymous

Pretty sure it was GG who said that.

  • Anonymous

Yes in some states, three of them… so you were wrong. You said that they don’t have to report, in the majority of the US and its protected territories they do.

  • Athena

Here is a helpful map that illustrates exactly what each state’s policy is on the issue.  As of April, 2010, there are four states that deny clergy-penitent privilege when child abuse or neglect is suspected.  To my surprise, they’re all Bible-Belt states.

  • Athena

Actually, he’s not all that wrong.  I believe you’ve got it backwards (which is easy to do, I had to double-check myself).

From what I’ve found, in most states, members of clergy are not mandated to report if the information is divulged during a confession or other conversation with a standard expectation of privacy (I was raised Catholic, I don’t know what the Baptist/Lutheran/Brand X version of this is).  Exceptions to this – states that say you must report no matter what, that there is no privilege for penitent communications – include… Oh, there are 6.  I missed NH and RI initially. I thought there were only four.  Anyway, NH, RI, WV, NC, OK, and TX.

  • Athena

I don’t think it is, either, as they would specifically call it “priest-penitent privilege”.  The very fact that they call it “clergy-penitent privilege” suggests that there are circumstances in other faiths that would establish the privilege.

  • Anonymous

I found a different chart with more states on the clergy as reporters list.
    http://www.childwelfare.gov/systemwide/laws_policies/statutes/clergymandated.cfm

    Clergy enumerated as mandated reporters:
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Vermont, Wisconsin

Clergy not enumerated as mandated reporters but may be included with “any person” designation :
Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, Utah, Wyoming

Neither clergy nor “any person” enumerated as mandated reporters :
    Virginia, Washington

Since we were talking about clergy as mandated reporters, without the ins and outs of specific state law, I see more states leaning on the side of mandated reporting. Now some of the state that say they are mandated reporters do have laws concerning specifics regarding actual confession, child abuse, murder, ect., but that does not change the fact they are considered to be reporters. I can not comment on this state, because frankly I don’t want to spend the next two hours reading state statue although I’m sure it’s a thrilling read ;) . What the general idea I get is that this man was in a mandated reporting state and wasn’t involved in a confession (or other activity leading the women to assume confidentiality) if his account is true she just walked in a tossed the baby at him and went all Linda Blair. Even if he isn’t prosecuted by the state (again I don’t know what MO’s statutes are) I wonder what his civil liabilities may be.

  • Texas Ranger

Ok, thanks for the helpful map….it’ll come in handy next time i’m homicidal.

  • Anonymous

I would love it if the demons told my BFs to get moving on that shit.

  • Anonymous

     Crack that whip princess!

  • Athena

Sure.  Clergy are mandated reporters in most states, but all but six also limit that mandate to communications not covered by clergy-penitent privilege.  So, the question becomes, “How does a state define clergy-penitent privilege?”  Because that is the ultimate crux of the situation.  If it is loosely-defined, then it pretty much negates clergy as mandated reporters, as the church would then have the right to broadly establish what is privileged and what isn’t.  Any one-on-one conversation could be privileged.  From what I understand, the privilege applies to confession, counseling sessions and statements specifically made in confidence.  If this woman was appealing to him for help and was not in the presence of others, I am pretty confident that it would fall under counseling or confidence.

If it wasn’t (and I can’t find any specific state definitions of clergy-penitent privilege or even confidence), and he failed to report, the likelihood of him being charged with failure to report is slim.  Now, if it was a privileged conversation, and he reported anyway, his civil liability would actually be to this mother under “clergy malpractice”, for lack of a better term.  If a member of clergy divulges privileged information (to anyone), and it ends up biting their congregant in the ass (in any capacity – loss of a job, divorce, arrest, etc.), people can file suit and have won judgments.

Ultimately, I’m going to say that, if this exact scenario happened in most states, the clergyman would NOT be required to report (especially since there was no evidence of abuse, only the evident potential for future abuse).  This man actually put himself at risk by reporting.  She could possibly have successfully sued him if the initial investigation ended badly for her.

Kinda weird.  But, hey… what part of religion isn’t?

  • Anonymous

Thanks for your clarification and I agree it’s awfully vague. It seems that the law lacks some teeth as far as I’m concerned. I do believe you have law experience if I remember correctly, so I must defer to your take on liability issue.

I’m assuming Morbid didn’t read the article I did, or didn’t get to the end. He doesn’t usually slant stories to make the religious look like idiots- they’re generally quite good at doing it themselves. But he missed crucial info in this story:

“[Pastor] Aubuchon says Simpson wrote on a piece of paper, “Do not let me harm the baby.”  He prayed with her and quoted scripture.  When she snatched the baby back and tried to leave, the church called 911.

“It makes you wonder, ‘Did I do enough?’” Aubuchon said.

Simpson’s baby went with the Missouri Childrens Division that October day.  Now, a community is saddened, but thankful the little girl is alive.

“Of course, our concern is for the baby, but our concern is also for the spiritual welfare of the mother and those things, for her, so we’re definitely praying in both regards,” said AuBuchon.

The pastor says he was supposed to appear in court to testify about the occurrence at his church, but the Childrens Division called the day before the hearing, and said things had been settled and Simpson was receiving treatment.”

  • Anonymous

    Xanax FTW!

  • Anonymous

9-1-1 was called, and the baby was removed from her care then. It was later returned to her-not the Pastor’s fault.

  • Anonymous

The church called the cops and they took the baby from her, Morbid, what more did you expect him to do!? If I sound irritated, it’s because defending the clergy is new to me, and I don’t like it. But this guy doesn’t seem to have done anything objectionable, and your omission in the article ensures he receives unwarranted interweb hate. So I’d like to know, what more would you>/I> have done, if she had shown up on your doorstep instead of in this man’s church?

  • Pamela Murphy

I happen to know this family, my boyfriend has a little sister and brother who are also children of Bradies, he grew up with her…she wasnt ever like this before.  Something happened that changed her.  This article failed to mention her current boyfriend (the babies father) was found in the same woods a few months earlier with no apparent cause of death, his body had been destroyed by vultures.  Bradie didnt use heroine or any other drugs, the drugs belonged to another family member who lived in the home.  Bradie did the right thing by taking the baby to the church and they shouldve helped her more than just 32 days in a mental facility.  I know all of Bradies children, and they are all happy and healthy with the exception of baby Emma.  Bradies other three children are with us quite often, at least once a week, as they are my boyfriends siblings.  Please try to open your hearts to the fact the system failed this family, no mother in her right mind would do this, and that is the case here…Bradie was not in her right mind and hasnt been since Ed was found dead in the woods.  Please  remember when a family member or friend has emotional issues, it is EXTREMELY important to set aside your own agenda and dedicate yourself to helping them…you never know…you could just save the life of someone you love.  Its too late for Bradie now..we thought everything would eventually work out with Bradie and her grieving…but it didnt. And now because no one took real action, Bradie could spend up to 30 years in prison and Baby Emma will never see her mother again.  She is in foster care right now, but were trying to get visitation rights for the children to see their baby sister.  Please have compassion for the other children when placing comments, they are on the internet often and I know it hurts them to see those things, they are dealing with alot already, specifically the loss of their mother and baby sister.

  • Pamela Murphy

No she wasnt on drugs…the drugs werent hers. Bradie isnt a bitch, I know Bradie and she doesnt use drugs, they belonged to someone else in that house.  Her boyfriend died mystreriously a few months earlier in the same woods as she and the baby were found.  We dont know for sure but we believe she may have tried to contact his spirit through oijiia board…she opened a door that let in something evil.  She WAS NOT like this before, shes been raising three other children, she had a career, a home, pets….just like anyone else.  Im telling you…SOMETHING HAPPENED….Bradie was a good, decent, loving person….she rescued animals that needed homes, she loved her kids and her pets more than anything.  Demons are real, and I believe her 100%.  Something made her do this and it wasnt drugs.

  • Pamela Murphy

Its not that happy…there are 3 more kids that belong to her also.  They have to live without their mother and the devastation of what shes done to their sister and to them,  its a very sad ending that will never end for them.
