EMT Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Woman Strapped To Stretcher

Hamden, CT – A paramedic for American Medical Response is accused of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman strapped to a stretcher in the back of an ambulance early on Christmas morning.

The 22-year-old victim apparently fell and hit her head that morning, knocking herself out. The woman told police that while being transported to the hospital, she awoke in the ambulance to find the EMT sexually assaulting her. She indicated that she could not move because she was strapped to a stretcher. She contacted police immediately after her release from the hospital.

Investigators determined that 49-year-old Mark Powell was the paramedic who treated the woman in the ambulance and an arrest warrant was obtained.

Powell turned himself in Thursday on charges of first-degree sexual assault and first-degree unlawful restraint. He was released on a $25,000 bond.

The problem I see here is this EMT is as ugly as fuck. I would press charges too. Now if he was to look like some of the EMTs we have here around work I may pay a little something for that ambulance ride and fake an illness….

Hmmm…not to be a defense attorney here but – oh hell lets play defense attorney who am I kidding – this isn’t exactly shut-and-closed.

Think about it:

Woman who had hit herself on the head – unconscious – and comes too in the ambulance. How’d she get an ambulance to come get her in the first place? Who called the EMT’s? That’s question one. Question two, how mentally sound are you after being knocked unconscious?

I’ve been unconscious myself, once via kinetic impact and (many) times chemically (Mmmm…Tookillya). But one thing universal no matter the source of unconscience, you come too not completely within your wits.

Another thing. This woman had enough wherewithawl to attempt escaping off the gurney in the ambulance but not enough to scream? THere’s another driver – maybe a third dude riding shotgun - not even seven feet away. Being assaulted, and struggling back, usually involves noise. Usually involves lots of loud noise. This EMT perv a Ninja or something? Doubt it.

Alota moving parts here. And we don’t know anything about that EMT dude, other than he’s a licensed EMT without a criminal record. He can ping me on this forum when needs a defense attorney. I’ll take cash. Or some of the stuff in his EMT box if he prefers barter.

Some ambulances have a small window to the back and most stretchers are mounted in the back behind the driver’s seat, so even if he did look back there briefly, he wouldn’t have been able to see much.

I would probably say that someone else called 911, and I’ve been unconscious before and when coming to, would definitely know if someone was molesting me against my will. Also, she probably had an oxygen mask on and since she was strapped in, could not remove it to scream out. Not all ambulances have openings between the driver and back, so even if she did manage to muffle out a scream, chances are, the driver probably still wouldn’t have heard.

Who called the ambulance? Anyone who may have been with her when she fell. It didn’t say she was at home alone.
Woozy or not when you wake up, there’s a high probability you know you’re being sexually assaulted, trust me. You may be confused as to why it’s happening, who’s doing it, or where you are, but you’re aware you’re being assaulted.
I didn’t see anywhere that said she attempted to escape off the gurney? In fact, it said she couldn’t move because she was strapped down. She may have not been struggling much at all because of her confusion. You already pointed out that you come to not completely with it. You may realize what’s happening to you but you may not have the wherewithall to fight it off.
Depending on what he was doing to her, it doesn’t say he was on top of her, raping her, he was likely able to hide it from the driver. He’s done this numerous other times. I’m sure he’s well rehearsed at how to hide it.
As for screaming, let’s assume she had an oxygen mask on. Ever try to scream thru one? And again, chances are she didn’t scream. She was confused & likely terrified. Screaming is not always your first reaction.

I have been unconscious several times too and have come fully awake and aware. I just could not move physically.There might not have been another Emt in the back with her at the time.I won’t let my mind even think of the possibilies I could have been molested during the unconcious part. *shivers*

I too have been knocked unconscious it took me a minute for it to sink in what was happening when I woke but a woman knows when she is being raped and I am sure they did a rape kit at the hospital. And any passerby could have dialed 911 and like you said there could have been another EMT in the back with them who just “looked the other way, and then he could have already had his “turn”. Twisted Fucks.
