ADT Security System Salesman Charged With Raping Woman

ADT Security System Salesman Charged With Raping WomanTampa, FL — A man working as a neighborhood salesman for Secure Watch, an authorized dealer for ADT security systems, has been charged with raping a potential client.

Police say that last Friday, 19-year-old Rashad Hales knocked on a woman’s door in hopes of selling her a new security system. The woman informed Hales that her boyfriend handled those types of things and he was currently at a neighbor’s home.

Hales left, but returned a short time later and told the woman he had spoken with her boyfriend and he had said it was ok for them to sign up for a new security system. Not believing Hales, the woman tried to shut the door, but Hales forced his way into the woman’s home.

Once inside, Hales began beating and strangling the victim with his hands and an electrical cord before taking her into a back bedroom where he raped her. Throughout the entire assault, Hales repeatedly told the woman he should kill her.

The woman convinced Hales that she wouldn’t tell anyone what had happened, and Hales left with the woman’s cell phone. When the woman’s boyfriend returned home a short time later, she told him what happened and he called 911. Responding police would spot Hales running and with he help of K9s, track him to a Shell gas station nearby where he was being held by some of his co-workers.

The gas station was the sales people’s meeting point, and they held him at the location when he showed up and informed them that the police were after him. Hales later admitted to the crime during an interview with police and said his only regret was not killing his victim.

He has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping, sexual battery, armed burglary with battery and depriving a victim of calling 911.

      I bet ADT doesn’t work THIS angle into their commericials for home security anytime soon. And WTH? You never tell someone selling something at your door that the man of the house isn’t there or that you are home alone. And having dogs with big barks going berzerk in the hallway behind you while saying to them “no, it’s not company, it’s a stranger” doesn’t hurt either.

      Thats effed up. This is why I crack my door long enough to tell sales people to beat it before closing and locking the door. Those energy people keep coming by trying to convince me that they aren’t trying to sell me anything, in fact they want to help me save money. Riiight.

      nothing says a professional organization like having your meetings held in the parking lot at the local Shell station.  I refuse to work for a company unless they, at the minimum, hold meetings at Denny’s.

      I just found the e-mail, so I can back this up. Years ago, I was mistakenly included in a pretty disgusting e-mail forward that included a string of ADT.ca e-mail addresses. The sender was not from ADT, but since he included 4 ADT company e-mail addresses in the string (the others were web-based e-mails), I would never consider using them, ever. The impression that photo left on me will never be erased, although I’m sure it’s tame by many people’s standards. No way, no how would they be getting near me or my daughter. I have two dogs now (100 + 150 pounds), so I’m pretty safe, even from their employees.

      It would be against security watch.  Adt can’t be held responsible for what an authorized dealer does.  That would be like….  suing Motorola because a Sprint employee hurt you.
