Canton, GA — Police have arrested 20-year-old Ryan Brunn in connection to the vicious sexual assault and murder of 7-year-old Jorelys Rivera whose body was found discarded in a dumpster.
Rivera was last seen alive on Friday playing with other children at the River Ridge apartments. She vanished after telling friends she was going inside to get drinks. After a massive search, her body was found in a dumpster on Monday.
Autopsy results showed the girl was killed a short time after she had gone missing and had died from blows to the head and stab wounds. She had also been sexually assaulted before her body was tossed in the dumpster.
Brunn is a recently hired maintenance worker at the apartment complex, fitting in with the police’s initial theory that the person responsible for the girl’s death lived in the complex or had access to vacant apartments.
“We are confident that Brunn is the killer,” GBI Director Vernon Keenan said at a news conference Wednesday afternoon, about an hour after Brunn’s arrest.Tags: Crime, Georgia, Jorelys Rivera, Murder, Ryan Brunn, Sexual Assault
