Anonymous Takes Down Child Porn Sites, Releases Users’ Names

The hackitivst group Anonymous are claiming to have taken down over 40 child pornography websites. going as far as posting one site’s list of over 1,500 members.

I’m not going to get into the technical details of what Anonymous did because it is too early in the morning. Besides, they have posted a timeline of events as well as a handful of related documents over on Pastebin you can peruse.

I found the documents to be as entertaining as they were interesting and informative. The chat log between Anonymous members and the supposed owner of a server that hosted child porn was particularly humorous.

But basically, Anonymous hacked a child porn site, Lolita City, and released the site’s list of over 1500 members, including usernames, how long they have been active on the site and how many images they have shared. They are also claiming to have learned the identities of some of the people on the list and have invited the FBI to contact them if they wanted the details.

They also focused their attention towards Freedom Hosting when they found that over 40 sites that host and distribute child porn were using one of their shared servers. Anonymous released the following statement after Freedom Hosting ignored their request to remove all child pornography from their servers:

“The owners and operators at Freedom Hosting are openly supporting child pornography and enabling pedophiles to view innocent children, fueling their issues and putting children at risk of abduction, molestation, rape, and death.

For this, Freedom Hosting has been declared #OpDarknet Enemy Number One.

By taking down Freedom Hosting, we are eliminating 40+ child pornography websites, among these is Lolita City, one of the largest child pornography websites to date containing more than 100GB of child pornography.

We will continue to not only crash Freedom Hosting’s server, but any other server we find to contain, promote, or support child pornography.”

They followed this statement with a simple demand-slash-warning to all other server admins:

“Our demands are simple. Remove all child pornography content from your servers. Refuse to provide hosting services to any website dealing with child pornography. This statement is not just aimed at Freedom Hosting, but everyone on the internet. It does not matter who you are, if we find you to be hosting, promoting, or supporting child pornography, you will become a target.”

Although I have enjoyed the majority of Anonymous’s operations, I will always remain wary of any group that possesses the ability to shut down a company’s cash flow or an individual’s freedom of speech, as evident by Anonymous’ attacks against Sony and the possible attack against the Westboro Baptist Church – especially when said group is reportedly leaderless.

But I got to admit, I wish large chunk of Anonymous members would do nothing but shut down child porn sites and release the names of the pedophiles who are actively trading in child porn.

I’m a bit confused by some of the comments alluding to child pornographers and freedom of speech. Those two do not go hand-in-hand. Child porn is not covered by freedom of speech in any shape or form.

My mentioning of freedom of speech in the article was simply because if Anonymous had anything to do with taking down WBC websites because they do not agree with their message, I cannot stand behind that.

Anonymous later posted publicly that they had nothing to do with that and they, like me, support the ideology of fighting for your right to say what you feel even if I don’t agree with what you are saying.

I like that Anonymous is being proactive in policing the internet as a hacker group. However, the only downside to this would be if police were already infiltrated on that server trying to lure pedo’s out of hiding, then all their work would be down the drain because Anonymous shut down their venue. I don’t think there can be a happy balance between police forces and vigilant groups because there will always be some stepping on the toes. I just hope the good guys come out on top.

That seems kinda like an oxymoron when you consider that in order to have child porn you have to have children being victimized.Back in 2002,when I got my first PC and knew nothing about firewalls,or anti-virus,or anything to do with a computer except how to turn it on;I was victimized by some child porn.2 things that I wanted to do with my PC was check out chat rooms – which was a big deal back then,and check out free naked women pics,and free porn – because I had heard a lot about both.

My PC was totally unprotected and once I started looking at all that free porn it wasn’t long before my browser got hijacked, and all this unusual shit starts appearing on my monitor – all of it was porn,but some of it was child porn – videos clips and pictures,with some nudist shit mixed in for good measure.This shit was bombarding my PC at a very fast rate.So many tabs were opening up for so many different sites, that I couldn’t close them before more opened.Finally there would be so many open tabs that the PC would crash.When I would re-boot my PC it would work correctly for awhile,but eventually it would start doing this again.

I remember that one video clip was of a baby – an infant and it showed the baby laying on a bed and some guy walked over to the baby and shot cum on the babies chest.

I can build a PC now – from scratch even,and the PC that I now own is protected … but I will never forget the shock and the disgust,and the fear from that experience.Fear came into play because I knew a lot of those open tabs were child porn sites, and I didn’t want to go to jail for some shit that I was not controlling and didn’t want on my PC anyway.A lot of the stuff that popped up had register pages attached to join the site,so maybe it was stuff put up by law enforcement – I don’t know,but it scared the shit outta me.Fucking nudist sites … I have always been suspicious of nudists.Bottom line – I am against any and all kiddie porn.

So what I would like to know, is how can I donate towards paying for more prepaid bandwidth? It’s possible; I didn’t go so far as to read up on the methodology of the research. But this thinking has lead to countries like the Czech Republic decriminalizing the possession of child porn. It’s a hard thing to study accurately.

Where is Freedom Hosting’s datacenter? If it’s in a country with no enforceable treaties or domestic laws that matter, pedo sites may fall within legal limits and the only thing interpol or the fbi can (legally) do is go after the members.

Anonymous is cutting the head off the snake, as it were. Good for them, I’d let them use one of my PCs as a zombie if they needed more boxes to level DDOS attacks from.

That said, anyone who follows DD is well aware that pedos can’t be fixed, so anonymous, before they took down the site should have scraped every http log they could find along with authentication logs so they could match logins to IPs and turn that over to the local law. Running down pedos by IP is easy and would enable loads of arrests and with any luck, mass executions.

I’m a bit dodgy on Anonymous having power over anything.
They’ll do something like this one day, and the next day the collective will be harassing some kid for nude pictures, and the day after that they’ll reveal the identity of some nut that set a cat on fire, and later that day the might troll Oprah by saying they’re child molesters and want to rape America’s children, then follow that up by posting actual child porn pictures with Pedobear pasted in to hide the naughty bits.
And yes I realize that any dork can claim to be from anonymous, since it’s not an actual organization. But they got more multiple personality problems than Truddi Chase.

Actually (if I recall DoJ statistics properly) first time sex offenders have a significantly lower rate of recidivism than most other felonies aside from murder
Now, once they’ve been convicted of a second sex crime, those guys are much more likely to re-offend than those who commit a felony.

Yeah, that’s the real concern. Even though anonymous should be applauded for doing what they do, It’s still vigilantism. Sadly if the police had any balls they would attack childporn on a world front. It’s more dangerous than the drug problem. They can start by finding every avenue where it is distributed. It doesn’t seem that hard to locate the file sharing sites and go after the ISP’s
I mean if snuff films were being distributed freely like kid porn. It would be nipped in the bud.

I don’t really understand your thinking behind this…the thought that possession of child porn could be ok because it might prevent actual assaults ( I may be misunderstanding, but is that what you’re saying? ). The only thing I can think that would apply to is child porn fiction/cartoon porn/etc, which I understand if that’s what you meant…any other child porn would mean pedophiles are viewing horrific acts committed on a child, either in photo or video, thereby increasing the demand for more child porn to be created, and indirectly causing the victimization of more children, which actually would not be preventing actual assaults on children. And I don’t understand why the czech republic would do such an awful thing…keeping it criminal allows search warrants and taps and other methods that can help find the children being victimized in the making of the child porn. Is there more to that law than that…is it only regarding fiction or cartoons?

Freedom of speech comes way far behind freedom to be 10 and not be raped. Our Constitution stands behind that one, every time…so do our people! Ones freedom of speech ends when you are harming someone….in this case physically,mentally, and God knows spiritually. Thank God for Anonymous, they did what was right regardless of laws and it makes me think that we need more “street justice” because of the reasons you mention and not less. It may not be “right” that they get to pick and choose which areas they mess with but if they do things like this, they are getting the job done without the multi-billion dollar budget like our governments. Let them work! Perhaps they can actually bring balance to the world!

If the case were the exact same then the police would have the same intel and didn’t do anything about it. This way it is absolutely traceable, not payed for by tax payers (just an added bonus on top of all the other greatness) and no chance of dirty politics, which happen in the USA all the time!
