Trial Begins For Woman Accused Of Strangling Daughter For Not Taking A BathNORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. – I swear I thought we posted about this woman on our front page, but a search only shows a forum post by Dakota Valkyrie. Anyway, opening statements began on Friday for Kimberly Fry, the 38-year-old woman accused of murdering her 8-year-old daughter for not taking a bath.

Camden Fry was last seen alive by her father as he left for a hockey game back in August 2009 as she sat on the couch watching television with her mother. Later that evening, he would get a call from Fry stating that she was having problems getting their daughter to take a bath.

The next morning, Camden’s father would find her dead body in her bed and call 911. When officers arrived at the home, Fry told them that her daughter had fallen in the shower and that she had pulled her out and placed her in bed. Hours later, Fry was admitted to the intensive care unit.

While at the hospital, she admitted to an employee that she had killed her daughter. “I should be protecting my daughter and I could not protect her from me,” Fry allegedly stated. She was also witnessed writing a note to her husband stating, “Please don’t hate me.”

Another employee at the hospital reportedly heard Fry state her daughter was crying and screaming and wouldn’t take a bath so to make her stop crying and screaming, she used the very effective method of cutting off Camden’s air supply by sitting on her chest covering her nose and mouth with her hands.

The state Medical Examiner’s Office released their findings that seemed to back up Fry’s admission. It stated Camden had “significant bruising” on her upper body and died from “cardio respiratory distress due to asphyxia due to manual strangulation.”

Fry was charged with second-degree murder, as a grand jury did not feel there was any pre-meditation on Fry’s part, and placed on suicide watch in the Gloria McDonald Women’s Awaiting Trial and Medium Security Facility. Now, two years later, Fry is having her day in court – sans video cameras and audio recording devices.

As it has been pointed out, Fry already seemed to have a few screws loose before she murdered Camden, especially when it came to hygiene. Fry was a volunteer at her daughter’s elementary school and was known by school officials and other parents for her frequent rants concerning hygiene and her frequent hand-washing. You can see her in action rambling about M&M’s and marshmallows being used to teach kids fractions in this video. She appears at the 38:05 mark.

She was also witnessed writing a note to her husband stating, “Please don’t hate me.”  If you killed my child it would push me into the place beyond hate where I would never return until you were dismembered in a land fill somewhere.

I remember this bitch – I tried to shower her face with my jizz — I almost strangled her

This incident happened near my hometown, It’s pretty sick. Been following the trial and I think we’ve just landed another Casey Anthony incident. GUILTY

“cutting off Camden’s air supply by sitting on her chest, and covering her nose and mouth with her hands.” This Bitch should die with the Dad’s foot knee deep in her ass.Talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water. It sounds to me like there should be no problem proving “intent” – “sitting on her chest, and covering her nose and mouth with her hands.” WTF ? It sounds like Kimberly was more a Bully than a mother;and the fact that she was having problems getting an 8 year old to bathe says a lot about her lack of parenting skills .

She murdered her child because didn’t want to take a bath? Well, mom doesn’t looks like she hasn’t washed or  brushed her unruly hair so maybe they should do her the same way she did Camden.

     RIP Camden

I have to agree with you. It takes a certain amount of “punch” to sit on top of a child and continue to suffocate them long enough to kill them, and this was an eight- year old. Mom knew exactly what she was doing, no question. I just cannot imagine what would go through anyone’s mind when they decide (because IMO it was a conscious decision she made!) to kill their own precious baby. My boys are 8 and 9 and although they may grumble about heading off to shower, I can’t imagine it turning so bad that I would ever contemplate choking them to death???? In fact, I can’t imagine ANYTHING turning so out of control with any of my kids that would drive me to hurt them like that. Surely there’s an invisible wall of “I’m a grown up, I’m the mom, I’m in control so you can yell all you like but I’m cool as a frigging cucumber???” Or maybe I’m just delusional about parenting. It seems like a lot of people use brute violence on their kids. Maybe the rest of us, who find it deplorable, are all wrong??? What the fuck is this sad little planet coming to!

Her method was not effective. Daughter still didn’t get a bath. I don’t get how hard it is to get your kid to do something. I just take away the things they love (video games, mp3 player, computer, tv) If my son knows that he is going to get his toys taken away, I can get him to do anything. I have NEVER had to beat my child to get my point across.

  • Anonymous

The kid must have smelled like my oldest son.

  • Anonymous

I also didn’t have to beat my kids! But they THOUGHT I could, so they did what they were told to do, when I wanted it done! BTW-they are both over 6′ tall & heavy, I’m 5’2″ ~ mom ~ but I taught them respect!

  • Anonymous

Gee!, I don’t know why she would think her husband would hate her.She only killed his little girl gawd! Oh cripe sakes!, according to the video, she did not intend to kill her daughter? I doubt that. What did she think would happen when you purposely cut off ones air supply.

  • Anonymous

Huge difference- this woman has already admitted she did wrong. Not that she should get any leniency for that, but at least she recognizes killing her daughter as a bad thing, not a reason to party.

  • Anonymous

Those methods didn’t work on me, because I am incredibly stubborn and strong-willed. Fine, take my toys, see if I care. I’m still going to do what I want to do.

I never grew out of it, either.  :-p

There’s something so pathetic about the note, it almost makes me feel sorry for her.

    Almost…

  • Anonymous

Someone in her family should have made sure the got got treatment for her severe OCD & psychopathic tendencies before his point. That being said she needs to be made to take a mud bath with putrid slow rising mud rising up to her nostrils, forcing her to hold her neck up to breathe. Let her just be like that for awhile, flashing pictures of her beautiful girl she threw away.

  • Anonymous

OK – I wasted several minutes of my life (that I will never get back) listening to her rant on food safety in the classroom. I can tell you right now – I HATE her. Not just for killing her kid, but because she is one of those stupid idiots who believe in regulating everything.

It’s people like her who take away the ability of children to be children. Grubby hands never killed anyone, and truth be told, probably toughened us up a lot. A body can’t fight infection if it is never exposed to any.

Anyway – she won’t be able to bathe and hand-wash enough in jail, and that’s just fine with me. I hope it is a torturous experience for her!

  • Anonymous

Idiot. I watched that video of the school committee and just wanted to shoot myself listening to this bitch go on and on about keeping kids healthy and fucking hygiene. Does she not see the irony in being so fucking worried about her daughter’s health, and in the end murdering her?

  • Hekate

    un.fucking.believable.

  • http://truecrimereport.com iLLusionS

Wow, so she was a germaphobe, and it turned into killing her child this way? I didn’t bother watching the video because judging by the other commenters, it was a little on the anal side…
How does wanting your child to take a bath get to this? My daughter use to procrastinate in gettin a bath if there was something she was doing that she thought was more important. But she got over it, Kids do…How could she kill her child in this way? How is it worth it? I say never let her take a bath again, she would off herself soon enough.

  • LeaveMeBe

Strangling is a very personal and up close way to kill someone. I cannot shake the feeling that she had physical alterations with her daughter before and that others (dad) must have known about them. And I don’t believe that she just snapped over taking a bath one evening. I hope the women in prison who miss their kids so much perform a uterine ablation on her using grimy sporks.

  • Anonymous

Well said Crumpled I have to agree.I bet she is one of those control freaks, at least it sounds like she is.That is probably the reason she killed her daughter.

  • Smileypants

Seriously, did she think the girl was going to smell better as a dead body?? Bad news, mommie dearest….she smells worse now than a grubby, sweaty eight year old usually smells. I bet this liitle girl bucked her and her crazy stuff alot, I bet this wasn’t the first time she got physical trying to make this kid conform. Poor baby girl….

GET HER BUBBLES! Girls like bubbles until they’re 13 or dumb girls until they’re 16.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

Hey now. I still like bubbles!!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

WTF? Is it really that hard to get an 8 year old to do what you want?!

Okay, this won’t be popular with you all here, but my daughter says that I’m her best friend. “My mom  always listens to me when I want to talk, and loves me most, and will do anything to help me. That’s why she’s my best friend,” she tells her friends. But she knows, when it comes down to business, I’m her MOM. I’m the boss.

She’ll groan when she has to go take a shower, but she does it. Right away. Anything I ask her to do she does, right away. She behaves better than my husband!

It concerns me that an eight year old didn’t want to take a bath so much that a physical intervention ensued. Why did she not want to take a bath that badly? It worries me. The voice in the back of my head is whispering that something is NOT right.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKMAEMPVJ5T2Y35HKYTNG7I6SY Cedric

The little girl had probably already bathe … this Bitch of a Non-Mom was probably attempting to make the kid do something like bathe every fucking hour on the hour.

That’s how my daughter is, she’s 9.  At the age of 7 I told her I wanted the toys picked up off the floor of her room before she could go outside to play with her friends.  I came in to check on her repeatedly (this is long after she learned how to clean up her own room) and nothing was done.  I told her that if I came in again it would be with a trash bag and everything left on the floor would go in the trash. Sure enough, I threw EVERYTHING on the floor in the trash (gave it all to the mission) and when she looked at that trash bag full of her toys and her nice clean room she thanked me for helping and asked to go outside.  I was stunned.  I HAD to give all the toys away cause of my own stupid threat but she was more than happy not to have to worry about the clutter anymore.  She’s still the same way, but I’ve learned other ways to get her to do her chores.

I don’t know why your relationship with your daughter wouldn’t be popular here.  I think it’ll probably be just the opposite.  There’s a lot to be said for having a genuine affection for your parents.  Behaving not simply because you’re scared of the consequences, etc., but because you don’t like to disappoint the people that you love.  Growing up I don’t ever remember being grounded because I’d pretty much ground myself out of guilt once the “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed honey” came out of one of their mouths.  I got into my fair share of trouble later on in life, but it had NOTHING to do with my parents and everything to do with my stupidity.

I’d imagine that bubbles would seem “messy” to this woman.  Too unpredictable. Too splattery.

  • Anonymous

I think we all do cringe when we hear the “my mom is my best friend” because we associate it with missing boundaries and excessive permissiveness.

I’d hope that no one would confuse your relationship with your daughter with that of a “cool mom.”  That she says, ”My mom always listens to me when I want to talk, and loves me most, and will do anything to help me. That’s why she’s my best friend,” certainly says the opposite of that to me. Don’t worry; we all know that you’re terribly uncool, HH. ;)

Rot in hell you fuckin kook

Sounds like my brother. He refused to say his ABCs even though he knew them one dinner. And my dad for whatever reason decided to push the issue. It escalated to say the ABCs or I’m throwing out ALL your toys. My little 3 year old brother got up without a word, went to his room, got a box of toys and put them in the kitchen trash can. Then sat back down. lol.

You are probably right Heather.Did this mommy germaphobe, help wash and scrubbed the little girl to roughly? did she sit and monitor this childs whole bath time?I never had a problem getting my girls to take a bath/shower either.Yeah there is probaly more to this story.

  • Anonymous

You sound like you have a good little girl there Heather. I understand, because my mom was my friend as well as my mother. We read alot of true crime stories together. :)

  • Anonymous

Why? I think she’s let you in on something important. Kids don’t need all that stuff or TV. They need to be outside and be alive. There is nothing wrong with throwing your kids crap out if they don’t respect it… whether they like outdoors or not. It’s your house you are the grownup.

  • Anonymous

I’m not justifing her actions. But what 9 year old throws a full fledged crap fest over a shower? I’m sorry but that would be big doo doo here. Mine is 8. If I had to still deal with that at nine, I wouldn’t kill my kid but well… there are some issues in that house.

  • BooBooKittyFuck

She’s obviously got some kind of issues…I get the crazy cleanliness thing ’cause I’m a tad OCD and I wash my hands like crazy…but that poor kid didn’t have to suffer and die over a fucking bath. I hate to imagine the terror that child went through, dying and watching her own mother suffocate her…poor girl…

  • Anonymous

I agree Jennie, sounds to me the child did not want and need all the stuff.

  • Anonymous

It sounds like your daughter prefers to be outside instead  in a room full of stuff. She might have been overwhelmed by having too much in her room.just a thought :)

  • Anonymous

Good for him, sounds like a smart little guy.

Bubble baths can cause bladder infections. At least some bubble bath products will do that.

  • Anonymous

I do too, I just hate them on the carpet.

  • Anonymous

When my daughter wants bubbles I use the same liquid soap we use to shower with: Ivory Waterlilies. Smells like the soap & makes bubbles.

WoW so im like seriously scratching my head on this one. I get it kid being an asshole dont want to take bath every parent goes thru it. Solution?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

I’m no college graduate, but I’m pretty certain the solution isn’t “sit on her til she’s dead.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/dre.mosley Dre Mosley

I realize that many of today’s parents are spineless and clueless who
raise their kids in households devoid of discipline. . .thereby allowing
the kids to essentially call the shots, but come on, surely she could
have found a better way to handle it.

“On June 2, 2011, court records in Washington County Superior Court include
findings from the state Medical Examiner’s Office that Camden had been sexually
assaulted on more than one occasion.” I doubt that the real issue was bathtime tantrums but she may have been terrified of bathtime.
