Judge Rejects Plea Deal For Mom Accused Of Drowning Son In BathtubLOUISVILLE, KY – A judge surprised everyone during the sentencing phase of a woman accused of killing her 8-month-old son by rejecting a plea deal the defense and prosecution had agreed upon.

First, here’s a little background. Back in 2010, police arrested Geneva Walters, accusing her being responsible for the drowning death of her son, Michael Cowherd. Police say Walters had given the boy adult-strength Tylenol before leaving him in the bathtub while she prepared formula, stopping short of placing a cinder block on the boy’s chest to keep him occupied.

She would be initially be charged with wanton endangerment and manslaughter, but earlier this year, Walters plead guilty to reckless homicide in a pretty sweet plea deal.

Both her defense and the prosecution had reached a plea agreement that would have Walters serving 60 days in jail and being placed on probation for five years. Not too bad for being an idiot who killed their kid.

Typically, judges will rule in favor of plea agreements, but Judge Stevens surprised everyone Thursday during sentencing when he bitch-slapped that plea deal into oblivion and then sentenced Walters to the maximum sentence of five years behind bars.

“Ms. Walters was responsible for this young life and this young life was an infant life. A helpless life. But she had responsibility for it and as a result of her actions or omissions, we’re without this young child,” Judge Stevens said during the court proceeding. <3

After getting over the initial shock, both sides took a brief recess. When they returned, the defense withdrew their plea and now Walters will be back in court again, but this time she will be facing a jury.

She will also be facing a stiffer sentence if convicted, as she will be on trial for the original charges of wanton endangerment and manslaughter. If found guilty, she could get 15 years.

Also -- and trust me when I say I do not judge people too harshly based on their looks or choice of clothing -- but I would think that if you were going to be facing a judge after admitting to being an absolute moron who drowned your baby, you'd do so without pink hair and facial jewelry.

      You are beyond correct anyone that would face a judge after killing their baby with pink hair is beyond moronic.  What the heck was she thinking?  The judge would like her style?  We had a judge in Concord that would charge you with contempt for not taking your hat off before he entered court.  If there is anyone you don’t mess with its a Judge.

      Hooray for the judge!!! She should get life but maybe gettn 15yrs is waaaay better then 60 fuckn days! N I agree about the hair n piercings! They only thing I can say about that is that she looks like she had cheek piercings which can be implants n a bitch to get out(need a professional piercer for that) Also, has she been in jail this whole time or out pn bail? Cuz that may explain her pink her. All I know is when I went to court i took out my freakn ear piercings n kept my hair natural…regardless this cunt should be drowned

      If only anyone that killed a kid deliberatedly or by mistake would face this judge. 60 days isn’t a sentence for someone that kills. 60 days is rehab for a candy addict.

      I’m thinking that the pink was red when it was first done.  If you look at her shoulder, she has black in there, too.  I’m thinking she has black underneath with red streaks on blonde up top. Red has to be touched up constantly, nearly daily, to not look like shitty, streaky pink. See photo above.
      As to her twin monroes, her lawyer’s an idiot for not advising her to take out the jewelry before they went into the courtroom.  In previous court appearances, someone made sure she didn’t have jewelry in her face and that her hair was passable.  Maybe her appearance in this session made the judge feel like she was already celebrating.

      I had to go to court a lot back in 2005 because of custody issues, my ex being a psychopath, etc.
      I’ve had mostly unnatural colors in my hair since, about.. 1998? I made fucking sure I had natural brunette colored hair every time I went to court. I bought presentable clothing. Court is NOT the place to look like a badass.

      I’m confused. On one article and on DD, it says she gave him Tylenol. On another, it says she gave him diphenhydramine, which is Benadryl. Why the inconsistencies?

      A Louisville mother charged in the death of her 8-month-old son has changed her plea in return for a lighter sentence.

      In return for pleading guilty, Geneva Walters will serve a sentence of just 60 days.

      There have been several twists and turns in the sad case involving Walters and Wednesday it reached a final dramatic end when she changed her plea to guilty in Jefferson County Court.

      As part of her plea Wednesday, prosecutors recommended a five year sentence, but Walters will be released on shockprobation after serving 60 days, and can stay out of jail as long as she stays out of trouble.

      The formal sentencing is set for June.
