Police Looking For Man Accused Of Sniffing Childs Feet In LibraryAstoria, NY — Two questions: Do you resemble the fella in the sketch to the left? Do you frequent public libraries and have a thing for little feet? If so, the police would like to have a word with you, ya sicko.

Police are looking for an alleged foot fetishist after a 7-year-old girl reported being accosted and sniffed in the children’s section of the Queens Library in Astoria last month.

According to the kiddo, she was just sitting there on the floor minding her own business when a strange man approached her and attempted to make small talk before yanking off her shoes and fondling her feet, rubbing them on his face.

“I didn’t know what to do. I was so petrified,” the girl said. “[He] Sniffed them, rubbed them against his beard, and kissed them. Did it to each foot. And then he did the same and just sniffed my flip flops.”

The alleged perv then took off while the child ran to her mother in another part of the library.

Not only is the child’s mother sickened about the entire event, she’s also quite pissed after learning that if and when the man is caught, he’s looking at nothing more than a misdemeanor.

Enter Queens Councilman Peter Vallone…

“Why is it when we catch this guy that he’s subject to a maximum eight months in jail? None of that made sense, so we’re fixing it.”

Vallone and a handful of lawmakers are now in the process of introducing a bill in Albany to make forcible touching of a minor 13 or younger a felony, punishable up to four years in jail.

The supposed weirdo is described as an Hispanic man, 35-40 years old, 170 lbs., with shaved salt and pepper colored hair. He was last seen wearing a dark colored t-shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers with a white design.

“I want him to suffer, that’s all,” the girl said of her alleged attacker. “I want him to suffer until he dies.” Heh…future Dreamin’ Demon member right there.

Very likely, – and more mature than some of our regular contributors already.

Either that or she will be featured in one of the stories, as the crimminal.Hopefully not.

I still don’t understand why people leave their children alone. Yes, even at public libraries. If one can’t let a child play in the their own front or back yard by themselves,  why on earth a library? Even a Drs office. Besides that, one can even abduct a child there. Geesh! A foot sniffer. GAG!!!!!

  • Emeraldstar

That’s why I never leave me children alone in the library either (or anywhere for that matter.) I heard about this dude who grabbed a 2-year-old girl in a library and took her to the restroom to sexually assault her. My boys are older, but I still watch them like a hawk, it embarrasses them to say the least, but at least they haven’t been accosted by some perv! I’d rather they be embarrassed.

My daughter is 21 and still lives with me. She hates it when I ask where she’s going. Who with, and what time to expect her home. It’s just the mother in me from doing all of this advocte work for missing, abused and abducted cases. She’ll never understand. OH WELL. I tell her as long as she is my daughter (snicker) I’ll alway ask those questions. If I didn’t. She wouldn’t think I cared.  A side note. She always ask me those question!!!

agree.  i would prefer they expand the range of punishment on any existing offenses that do apply instead of creating increasingly narrow categories.

that said… i, for one, am content with not smelling my feet remaining – simply – a prudent societal guideline.

  • wishfulsinful

I dunno, gg, I’ll take a foot over a chode any day of the week. Although, I’ll give you that chodes arent walking around on display as soon as  the weather gets nice, but still.

Isn’t it, trick or treat smell my feet, give me something good to eat? maybe the police should check out shoe stores near by.

  • http://www.facebook.com/rachel.a.prince Rachel Ann Prince

Not to make light of this little girls situation but its not like he freaking sniffed her crotch or anything. I just dont see the sense in quite possibly introducing a law that wld throw someone in the clink for years for a crime like this

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

Any one who has no problems touching someone else’s child without permission, on ANY part of their body, needs to know it’s NOT okay.

If he has no problems doing this in a public library with people around, what does he do to kids in private?

  • dixiegirl3179

I understand that this is worse, but are we going to throw all the old ladies who pinched my son’s cheeks or tickled his feet when he was a baby in jail for 4 years? I mean it is forcible touching after all. I get that nobody should touch anyone else kid, but 4 years seems extreme. The guy is obviously mentally ill, if this kid is growing up in New York she should probably get to used to the crazies, cause this is definitely not the weirdest thing that’s going to happen to her in her life.

but are we going to throw all the old ladies who pinched my son’s cheeks or tickled his feet when he was a baby in jail for 4 years?

Were they doing it for sexual gratification?

  • Dirk

A seven-year-old using the word “petrified.”
    Good job, library!

  • Anonymous

Especially a new law that (unless something’s been left out) sounds like it would outlaw spanking.

  • Anonymous

He’s hispanic? My father in law’s safe then. He LOVES my kids’ feet. Well, he likes baby feet but he just likes to grab them & have’em in his hands. Nothing about rubbing them or anything. My 2yr old now has those vinager feet that kids have… he’s like 4ft away from her while trying to put her shoes on at the same time.

  • Jemimabean

Maybe not, but I would support a motion to fine all the old cows with “personal space issues” who think it’s okay to rub a pregnant stranger’s tummy! Eeeuuucch! Even if they AREN’T doing it to get their jollies, it’s still gross and invasive.

But ja, nobody touches my kids, whether they live in New York or Amsterdam or Johannesburg, living in a town with crazy people doesn’t mean that anyone has to accept nutty and invasive behaviour from strangers.

  • Athena

Exactly.  Even if the law was carefully written, it could very well outlaw things like spanking.

The dude’s a sicko, but his crime was relatively harmless.  I think 8 months + some in-house therapy should be sufficient.

  • http://twitter.com/Q_Jordon Quintin Jordon

This guy should be easy to identify, I mean with that line down face and all. You don’t see that every day.

  • Anonymous

Oh, nasty.   Feet sniffing might seem pretty harmless to some but it’s TOUCHING.  You don’t touch kids you don’t know, and you better be careful with the ones you DO know.

“I want him to suffer till he dies.”  Atta girl! If the dude sniffed my kid’s feet, he wouldn’t have to worry about whether he’d do it again.  He’d lose his damned nose when I found him.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

A stranger shouldn’t be spanking other people’s children anyway.

And sure the crime is “relatively harmless.” (The 7 year old didn’t think it was so harmless.) So is superimposing a kid’s face over the face of adult porn.

Both are huge red flags, however.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

What is it about a pregnant woman that makes people think that it’s okay to touch a perfect stranger without asking?!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

I was like… “What seven year old (other than my kid) uses big words like that?!” Then I realized… hey…. she’s in a library.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

I love my babies’ feet. I kiss them after baths, tickle them, hold them, pick the lint out between the toes haha. Baby feet and hands are so cute. I hate other people’s feet haha.
But a stranger shouldn’t be touching anyone’s kid. I flip out on all the old people who touch my kids. Just because you’re old, you can do whatever you want without permission? Not MY kids.

  • Athena

Will the law stipulate “strangers”?  How does one define “strangers” legally?  Someone the kid doesn’t know?  Someone the kid’s parent doesn’t know?  Someone no immediate family member knows?  Sorry if I distrust this kind of knee-jerk legislation.  Apparently, I’m not the only one.

As far as what the 7 year old thinks, with all due respect, said 7 year old may also believe there’s a monster in her closet.  The criminal justice system should not rely on the sensibilities of a 7 year old.  People convicted of assault serve well less than the 4 years proposed by the legislation.  Most of them serve less than the 8 months proposed.

Yes, his actions are red flags.  But we do not incarcerate people based on red flags.  No one was injured in this incident.  Court-ordered therapy would do more and cost less for tax payers than some 4 year prison stint.

  • Canuck Gramz

Sounds like she’s got a good protective mommy and should grow up to be as well adjusted as we all are.

  • Canuck Gramz

Leave my kids alone? I had five of them ( in amazing rapid succession) and I spent most of my time trying to chase them down. Lived in constant fear of some evil person grabbing one of them. Or of them setting another fire..

  • Canuck Gramz

By the way I do agree with you and I’m happy to hear that you watch over your daughter. She may have occasional embarassment but I guarantee she knows she is loved, and that you’re showing her love by worrying and watching. I wish our world was safer for our precious children.

  • Canuck Gramz

I really don’t want to know what a chode is. Seriously.

  • Canuck Gramz

Omgosh all of the females have complained about this! A couple of them got really freaked out by it.

  • Canuck Gramz

When one of my grandson’s was three , he  loved to pick toe lint out of his toes and his baby brother’s toes. Kinda freaked his mom out a bit. I didn’t help when I taught him the phrase ” Toe jam” I got a good bawling out and a look for that one.

  • Jemimabean

That’s because it’s just weird. You’re standing in the queue at the supermarket one minute, the next minute there’s an overgrown homing pigeon flapping dangerously close to your nethers. You wouldn’t grad an un- pregnant person’s belly.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKMAEMPVJ5T2Y35HKYTNG7I6SY Cedric

Smell my feet at your own risk.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKMAEMPVJ5T2Y35HKYTNG7I6SY Cedric

I don’t think “anyone” but a parent should be allowed to “spank” a child. As for the crime being “relatively harmless” – I disagree, next time the guy may actually snatch a child for a take home scratch -N- sniff session. My point is that small crimes unaddressed can turn into much bigger crimes.I am however against a “new”law to address one foot freak.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKMAEMPVJ5T2Y35HKYTNG7I6SY Cedric

I love my feet and my feet love me.My feet do amazing things for me like carry me to and from my car.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKMAEMPVJ5T2Y35HKYTNG7I6SY Cedric

I give up – couldn’t find it in the dictionary – whats a “chode” ?Note – Sorry Canuck Gramz.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKMAEMPVJ5T2Y35HKYTNG7I6SY Cedric

That’s because you haven’t smelled and kissed my feet yet;boy are you in for a treat.Someone get a AED unit ready.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKMAEMPVJ5T2Y35HKYTNG7I6SY Cedric

Who is to say – this is pretty weird in my book of weirdness – it may very well end up being “the weirdest thing that’s going to happen to her in her life” ; unless she happens to move to Florida, and owns a pygmy goat.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKMAEMPVJ5T2Y35HKYTNG7I6SY Cedric

     Was he ?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKMAEMPVJ5T2Y35HKYTNG7I6SY Cedric

I noticed that too … that and the “I want him to suffer until he dies.”

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKMAEMPVJ5T2Y35HKYTNG7I6SY Cedric

In other news – back in Florida – all the little kids are walking around safely in their flip flops wondering what ever happened to the guy who used to pay them a dollar to smell and kiss their feet …

  • Siobhan

It’s a slang term for the area between one’s genitalia and anus (aka the “taint”).

My ex would disagree. Yes, the same ex that is a panty sniffer. He loves feet and I just don’t get it.

I’m a teacher and a chef which means I am on my feet constantly. The last thing I want to do is put those things anywhere near my face. If you wash them (very well) before you sit next to me I may rub them for you but that’s the best it’s going to get.

  • http://twitter.com/AngelsMom0806 Angels Mom

What the devil is a chode?

  • http://twitter.com/AngelsMom0806 Angels Mom

My son uses big words as well. But his mother is a sarcastic smart azz and he loves Word Girl, he can’t help it.

  • http://twitter.com/AngelsMom0806 Angels Mom

Love baby feet!!! After 6 months though you can get those puppies away from me. Until then I’m kissing and holding and sniffing. But only my babies…maybe a family members baby. ;-)

  • http://twitter.com/AngelsMom0806 Angels Mom

Just saw this. Oh then my yahoo answers answer was wrong. Not surprising.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

He touched a kid. That he had NO business touching. Therapy won’t help him.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

Hey that saves mom from having to pick the lint our of their toes. I swear, we could build a cat with the lint my son horde in his hands and feet.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

I keep my weird foot thing to solely my kids. Don’t wanna weird out the relatives! lol

  • Athena

You sound pretty confident, but you’re not a mental health professional (to my knowledge).

In actuality, therapy can go a long way for some people.  I’d rather give it a shot than not.  Europe has many more therapy-based sentencing options than we do, AND they’ve got substantially lower crime rates.  I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest they are doing something right.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

He touches kids. Kids that are not his. I don’t care if you find what he did “harmless,” and it’s shitty that you pass off the kid’s feelings of being violated simply for her age and possible belief in the boogeyman.

He violated her, alright. He may not have touched her “no-no” parts…. but he shouldn’t have touched ANY part of her.

The boogyman exists. He’s pictured above.

  • Vindictive

Europe has lower crime rates because the don’t prosecute for every little thing. And a lot of the things that are illegal in the states are still legal/or ignored here.

Europe’s biggest problem is they do more to to protect the perpatrator, than they do the victim. It’s hard to track re-offenders, because you get a new identity after you come out of prison for a violent crime.

And you get more time for crimes involving things of value. (there is no value to humans) Rape a camper and steal her tent, you’ll get more time for stealing the tent. They don’t stack charges to get more time. Whatever charge gets the most time is the charge. The rest are stipulations.

So yeah, Europe’s not so god either.

  • wishfulsinful

I was taught that the chode is the patch of flesh between a dudes balls and his corn chute; it’s nice to also have a synonym for an unfortunately small, chubby weiner w/ a meatsweater.  Thanks Angel’s Mom!! Cedric, I hope I helped, albeit a little late.

  • wishfulsinful

    I’m sorry, vinager feet?

  • http://truecrimereport.com iLLusionS

Yeah one has to assume this will lead to worse behavior in the future…any time someone has the balls to grab a child for whatever jollies they are trying to get…are damn sure a threat to children..

  • Anonymous

“ It’s hard to track re-offenders, because you get a new identity after you come out of prison for a violent crime.”

Only in cases that have really inflamed the public imagination does that occur (Venables). And obviously criminals have the same right everybody else have to change their names by deed-poll.

I would say the biggest difference is the fact that few states in Europe would be comfortable considering a public registry of criminals for fear of vigilantism and political abuse. You have so many virulently anti-government voices in the US; but the majority of you trust your government far more than the average European.

  • Jack2

I don’t know about you, but I just started to laugh pretty hard at what he did to that girl’s feet…WHAT THE HELL for real? o.o Imagine that in your mind right now with that descriptive. It is just too hiliarous and far out creepy.
