Mom Arrested After Roommate Records And Reports Child Abuse

Gilbert, AZ — Jessica Callaway, 21, is facing numerous charges after her roommate filmed her smacking her 10-month-old baby around.

The roommate, 18-year-old Alexandrea Kingsley told azfamily.com she had been rooming with Callaway and baby Laura for a couple of weeks. During that time, Kingsley compiled a pretty substantial list of “terrible things’ Callaway had done to the child.

“She would leave the baby in dirty diapers until they were so heavy they were falling off her,” said Kingsley. “There’s times she yelled ‘I wish I never had you, maybe I should just give you away, you’re such a mistake I hate you, you piece of….”

Kingsley went on to say that she had witnessed Callaway hitting the child, blowing marijuana smoke in her mouth and feeding her cold medicine to make her sleep.

Finally, on Friday, as Callaway stomped around the house in a snit, Kingsley decided she’d had enough and out came the cell phone. While pretending she was texting, Kingsley began filming the Mother of the Year at work.

On the video, a frustrated Callaway can be seen smacking the child on the leg and face, saying, “Shut up,” and, “Start and I’m gonna kick you in the [expletive] face…”

“I wanted to get up and grab her, hold her in my arms and keep her safe, but the smartest decision was to sit there and make the video because without that video I’d have no proof,” said Kingsley.

When taken into custody, Callaway reportedly admitted to the abuse, claiming she’d had a bad day and couldn’t find an outfit to wear out that evening. She’s now facing three counts of child abuse. Additional charges may be filed if the child tests positive for drugs. Callaway has since been released on bond.

Laura was placed in the care of Child Protective Services.

Fair enough, but consider this: We are biologically programmed to make babies come puberty… 12 or 13 in most cases. If a kid’s not ready to move out by 18, it’s *probably* their parents’ fault.

Well, I was in college so I was home till I was done. I moved out at 21. There was no way I could afford paying for school and living out on my own. It was simply too expensive. Most of my contemporaries stay with their parents longer now. The job market is harsh and a lot of graduates are finding that they can’t find jobs right now.

Well, none of them are pretty on the inside, but I strongly disagree that “pretty people” never abuse children. That’s simply not true. People generally don’t look their best in mugshots, so I can see why it might seem that way. Some of the cruelest, shittiest, most entitled people I’ve come into contact with have been objectively attractive.

I’m just generalising. On average, the people featured on this site for beating kids to death are pock- marked, tweaked- out and grossly scrawny or morbidly obese and adjudicating scuffles between their own chins. These types seem to always wait until the child is 2 or 3 before having the “epiphany” that they are not cut out for parenthood. By that time the child is scarred for life. Hopefully this documentation will get the child to a good home sooner rather than later.
