Douglasville, GA — A 14-year-old boy armed with a sword and a BB gun has been apprehended for killing his 77-year-old great-grandmother and wounding his grandmother.
According to reports, deputies responding to a call arrived to the family home shortly after 5 p.m. Monday. The teen was reportedly standing in the doorway while his great-grandmother lay dead in the front yard from sword wounds.
The teen was reported to have shot at police – taking out a few windows in their cruisers. Deputies responded with a concussion grenade, a police dog, and – after convincing the boy to come outside – a dead-on taser shot. Deputies 1 – boy 0.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Major Tommy Wheeler said he has since been placed in the custody of authorities.
Authorities were quoted as saying that they were called to the home twice before in recent months in regard to the boy. Both times the boy was hospitalized for evaluation and released.
“We were called out there again in July,” Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller said. “We had to hog-tie him. When we took him to the hospital they evaluated him and then released him.”
There has been no word yet on his planned release date after this latest incident…Tags: Crime, Georgia, great-grandmother, mental illness, Murder, sword
