Man Stabbed To Death With Broken Putter At Mini Golf CourseBARRIE, Ontario — Three teens have been charged with murder following the stabbing death of a man at an indoor,  glow-in-the-dark minigolf course.

Bradley Hubbard, 42, his girlfriend and two young daughters decided to go to Putting Edge (heh) after eating dinner Saturday night.

While there, Hubbard’s daughters, ages 7 and 4, informed him they were scared of some drunk teenagers acting like assholes and breaking things.

Hubbard confronted the teens and asked them to stop, but things went downhill from there, ending when one of the teens allegedly stabbed the father of seven in the neck with a broken putter.

Paramedics arrived and tried to save his life, but Hubbard would be pronounced dead at the hospital.

“At least he died in his wife’s arms,” said Hubbards’ father-in-law. “He got to tell her that he loved her before he passed away.”

Police have arrested Justin Spring, 18, Jake Workman, 18, and Matthew Spring, 19, and have charged them with second-degree murder.

I really dislike shit for brains kids (adult and otherwise). I did some stupid stunts, but never got in a self righteous violent fit.  I feel for the children of this father and his wife, I’m sure the unbearable pain is made worse by the fact that a gang of low-lives caused it for absolutely no reason.

  • Anonymous

I know no one wants to say it, we’ve all got to be ‘politically correct,’ but I think it’s time we just admit that Canadians are brutal people.

No we’re not. Unless we put the death penalty back on the table we’re not. & if we brought the DP back, I will be more than glad to be described with the adjective brutal.

Apparently another stupid fock drunk that thinks they’re right. Maybe they’re relatives of the PEE-lympian JetBlue dude.

Sounds like his little girls had the right idea to be scared. Now they’ll have to live with this memory forever because of some teenage sperm & egg omelettes that should have just been wiped on the towel.

Why second degree? Why not First?

  • Anonymous

He was with his girlfriend but died in his wife’s arms? Misprint? Anyway, what a bunch of shitheads those teens are. These are the kind of stories that make me hesitant to confront brainless assholes. I really don’t want to lose my life over something stupid.

  • Anonymous

Because it was not premeditated.  Heat of the moment murders are second degree.  If they would have planned on getting drunk and killing this guy it would have been first degree.

  • Anonymous

“The aggravating factors of first degree murder are a specific intent to kill, premeditation, and deliberation.” Perhaps because this crime was done in the heat of moment so to speak?

I hope these guys get fucked right in their piehole (figuratively and literally). Those kids will never forget seeing their father stabbed with a putter over nothing……

Mini-golf is one of those games that brings out the worst in people. The last time I tried it I got so pissed off I hit the ball so hard it got stuck in the chain link fence surrounding the batting cages and I was asked to leave.

The last time I tried it, I got nailed in the forehead with the business end of a club and walked out of there looking like Carrie.  Goddamn, do head wounds bleed.  Oh, and I was, like, 8.

18 year olds think they are invincible and don’t think of the consequences of their actions.  A group of 18 – 20 yr old males is best left to handle by the police.  I’m all for “street justice” and communities “handling their own”, however males grouped together at this age is comparable to roaming packs of dogs, very dangerous.  Sadly, this occurs in Alpha or Beta males when grouped together it becomes a pack mentality.  It’s terrible for the kids to have witnessed that.
P.S. The glow in the dark crime scene reminds me of the CSI tv show, must of looked horrible.

I don’t really like anything golf related. It sucks that this man was sticking up for his kids (in a sense) and lost his life over it. How big and bad ass can you really feel at 18 that you have to stab a man? Yet it is 3 of you? Little worms…..Ruined alot of lives in one moment.

  • EveryVillainIsLemons

No death penalty in Canada, so all we need is a rifle, three bullets, a man with good aim who wouldn’t mind spending a few years in a Canadian prison if he got caught, and three clear shots.

If you’re going to murder-torture them, a box cutter is WAAAY too fast.
Break little bones.  Maybe start with toes, snapping one every couple of hours.  Then move on to hands, breaking an individual knuckle.  If they’ve passed out from pain, wait until they wake up before doing the next bone.
Once both feet and hands are busted, have an accomplice dressed as a police officer come in and “rescue” them.  The “officer” should move them to a different room, pretend to take a statement, and then break their right clavicle.  Have the fake officer apologize profusely, and pretend to call an ambulance.
Now your third accomplice enters dressed as an EMT.  He should immediately snap the left clavicle while putting the subject on a stretcher.  Use the strecther to bash the subject’s face into a doorframe, shattering their nose.  By now it’s clear they aren’t rescued, and their spirit is utterly crushed.  To drive the point home you now enter the room, and all three of you piss on the subject.  Once done, place food on a high up shelf and shatter the subject’s legs and arms.
The final phase of the torture will be seeing how long it takes for them to die either of starvation or embolism from the broken limbs.  Family pictures of the man they killed should be hung all over the room so they can’t forget the senseless killing that is now killing them.
On the off chance they somehow get the food, it should contain a non-fatal poison that makes them violently vomit or shit uncontrollably.

..not that I’ve spent much time thinking about this.  Ahem.

I live about an hour outside of Barrie, and to hear crap like this coming out of there is completely unheard of. The place is near cottage country and has a tone of retirees. Ballooning small town Canada is a huge problem. These places aren’t equipped to deal with idiots like these kids.

  • http://twitter.com/Gerber58 adam gerber

    What
    they did was absolutely horrible!

BUT such behaviour starts when a kid throws a
temper tantrum in a store at 2 years old, and his parent can not slap his
behind because they will be charged with child abuse! No respect in schools,
teachers are afraid to take action because they may loose their job or end up
charged by police.  That escalates from
    there.

Then you have the VIOLANCE and gore in the movies, and the stupid, pointless games that
all of them play!  More blood, more violance – the better!

    Any one of those kids
on their own would act normal; it’s being together and not knowing when to stop
(drinking) that got them in trouble .  They
do come from normal families.  And yes at
18 & 19 they are still just stupid kids that screwed up not only their own
lives but lives of so many other people!

They will regret this for the rest of their
    lives.

    So next
time when you judge a parent trying to take control of their screaming toddler…
think twice… this is where that toddler may eventually end-up.

Folks – don’t beat on your kids.  It is more likely to teach them to be violent than to teach them good manners.

  • http://www.dreamindemon.com Morbid

If you look at the two links I put in the article, the two articles I gathered the information from, you will see one says it his girlfriend while the other says his wife. Instead of hashing that out, I went with what was reported. She was either one or the other and it really made no difference in the grand scheme of things — a man was stabbed to death in front of his kids in a mini-golf course.

Your view of spanking is that it is “beating”. While “beating” is most certainly a wrong thing to do, correctly administered corporal punishment is not beating kids. It is extremely effective if part of an overall structured approach to discipline.
The modern day fad of not using corporal punishment represents to me, generations of parents who try to separate themselves from the “job” of raising kids. Supposedly, we are also to take this hands off approach to kids and just let them develop naturally into perfectly mannered little einsteins. Except that it doesn’t work that way. We provide the learning environment and we provide the structure. Kids thrive on it. Parents have been raising kids for thousands of years with spanking and once we start using logic again, we will continue to do so. This fad too shall pass just like the flock of seagulls haircut.

There are many techniques available today to raise well-behaved children without hitting or verbal abuse; they are techniques that the best parents have used throughout history.  Parents or guardians who choose to hit their children instead are being willful, lazy, and undisciplined.

  • wyrosjr

It could be that many times you are right. Spanking without using best practices is more than likely a bad idea. Even then, it should be used sparingly. There are times though, that there is no better technique. I would not seek to restrict rights of parents to use any effective technique. You are also wrong to cast everyone in a negative light that uses it.
