so why didn’t the GPS bracelet alert someone there was a problem?  and if it did, it would have known just where to find them, correct?  I don’t get that.

This may all be very hard to believe, but as someone who lives in NM, I am not one bit surprised. Maybe if it were another state, but no. I am not shocked. In NM, there are many kids that are being recruited into gangs as young as seven and eight years old. My ex was recruited as a gang member when he was nine years old (he wasn’t a gang member by the time I met him, no thank you), and they like using kids because no one ever suspects them. Not only that, they don’t ever get in “real” trouble (according to the elder members, juvie is better than jail), not to mention their records are often wiped when they are of age. Not always, but a lot of the time.
I would not be surprised to hear if one or all of these kids are gang members, and often when you have such young hellions, you certainly have problems at home. Where were the parents? Well, they were probably busy shooting up or something while their kid is out robbing old ladies and flipping cars. Another thing about that as well, is that so often these kids are being recruited into gangs because their parents are gang members also. I so wish I could be shocked by this, but I see this shit all the time. I’ve just never seen it involve a vehicle.

I also live in NM (yeah, I put it in my username, I know, lol), but I’m down in Cruces.

One of best guys I ever worked with was in a gang when he was younger, but when he got older, he got out. Still a scary looking dude, all muscles and tats and shaved head (he was already going salt and pepper in his early 30′s, I saw him a few times when he wasn’t able to shave it for a bit), but a real good guy, and he was doing his darndest to keep his nose clean, which was hard for him, because he was a powerfully built Hispanic man that looked like a thug (well, he had been a thug when younger). He was working two jobs because his lady wasn’t well and liked to spend money, doted on his lady’s daughter as if she was his own flesh and blood, and in general just busted his ass every day at work. He came in on time, got his stuff done, almost mever left until it was down, unless he had to get out to not get OT (boss wouldn’t have minded him gettign it, he more than earned it, but her bosses would have flipped a fit), and always had the last two weeks of the year of for his paid vacation because he never used any of it before then. He’s probably one of the few people I miss from my last job, if he’s even still there, it’s been 3 years.

An observant off-duty cop mowing his yard got in his car and pulled alongside me waving his badge. The cop was perplexed since he’d never encountered someone so young driving. Guess some pot or drugs would have made it more eventful, lol.

My ex’s cousin is in MS-13, and he reproduced like a fucking cockroach. He has been shot twelve times, twice IN THE FUCKING HEAD, and of course is still living, as he is worthless and dumb as fuck. The useless ones always, always live. Has four kids, an 11 year old, and three 9 year old triplets. Absentee, drug addicted mother. All four of his children are gang members. Little mini fucking gang members. Can’t tell you how many times my ex tried calling CPS but they all live with his father (my ex’s uncle), and the home is nice and clean. They are all fed and taken care of. They’re just being taught that gang life is where it’s at. They don’t even have a fucking chance.

12 years old with an ankle bracelet? When I stole my dad’s car at fifteen, it was supposed to be for a few hours. When we weren’t back in time, we were like “What the fuck, caught anyways, might as well stay out all night!”  The usual thought process back then… To this day I remember my dad saying “Next time I am calling the police.” That was the end of my joyriding in his car!
