Babysitter Charged With Murder Accused Of Leaving Child To Die On Floor While She Played YoVilleGLOUCESTER CITY, NJ — A woman is behind bars today accused of beating a little girl and then leaving her to die on the floor as she played Yoville on Facebook.

Sheila Polanski, 33, was babysitting 2-year-old Madeline McHenry last Tuesday when she called 911 to report the girl was having problems breathing. When paramedics arrived, they immediately noticed that the toddler had some bruising around her forehead, chest, and abdominal area. She was taken to the hospital, but would fall into a coma and then die on Thursday in her father’s arms.

Polanski offered up a number of reasons why the little girl she had been babysitting since May showed signs of physical trauma. These explanations included the girl striking her head on a wooden banister, a metal table leg, a chair leg, a refrigerator door and even that she had fallen off a table. But finally she admitted that she was stressed out over being evicted from her apartment, and when the little girl would not stop whining, she picked her up around her chest and shook her violently before throwing her to the floor.

The little girl vomited and appeared to be choking, so Polanski said she pressed on her chest and used her fingers to clear out any obstructions. Afterwards, Polanski told investigators the girl fell unconscious asleep around 1:15 p.m. in the living room. Polanski tried to wake her up over an hour later but was unable to do so, describing the girl as having trouble breathing, She attempted CPR before calling a friend for advice and then finally called 9-1-1.

Records show that during the hour McHenry lay dying alone on the floor, Polanski was logged into Facebook playing Yoville. ”She threw her to the ground and then proceeded to go and play “Yo-ville” on Facebook because there were facebook entries of her playing “Yo-ville” for the two hours while my baby lay there dying on the living room floor,” said Maddy’s grandfather, Ted Helgren.

Initially charged with assault, Polanski has now been charged with murder and is sitting in jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. Her first court appearance is at 11 a.m. this morning.

    What a quif.

(Yes that’s really all I’m going to say.)

Oh, my hearts breaking for the little girl, and her poor father. I can’t fathom having one of my children dying like that, even in my arms. :(

The picture of the twunt is creepy! Its like she’s staring right at me, and picturing me as bacon or something. *shudders* I hope the other mommy’s in prison who miss their children dearly get some jail house justice on this twunt!

Twunt, huh?  I’ve never heard that one.  Is it a combination of “twit” and “cunt”?  ‘Cause if it is, it fits her totally.  Beating a small child and letting her die on the floor for a game.  Pathetic.  At least she doesn’t have to worry about being evicted from her apartment anymore…she’s got a new home now–prison.  It’s no consolation, though.

I had to laugh at the bacon comment, though.  To me, she looks smug.

I’m thinking “twat” and “cunt”, but twit works too. I don’t usually use language like that, but it definitely applies in this case.

I just cannot fathom how anyone can hurt a child. You would not be able to tear me away from the child long enough to actually play anything on the computer. I would want to be sitting on the floor playing with the baby, watching her learn, reading to her…  that makes me so sad.

Didn’t the parents notice anything? Stuff like this doesn’t usually happen in a vacuum. I can’t believe that she was an awesome, loving sitter for 3 months then snapped.

Does everyone in the world need sedated to stop this abuse of children? Ok there are a few sane people but beginning to wonder.

I like your new bad word: Twunt!

Is it like Cunt +Twat ?

BTW, thanks 4 following me. I am honored & now have to try to be funnier for your pleasure.

I hate all those computer games that you have to log into facebook to be able to play them.  While I DO play computer games, if I can’t do it for like 3hrs in a row, I don’t actually start playing the game until the kids go to sleep. Especially if I like the game.

Facebook, it’s either the devil or one of its’ minions.

Love you word & gonna steal it! boy do I know a few of those!

  • wyrosjr

Most people still ok, there are still a lot of people we need to NOT let have children so we can breed out their defectiveness.

I am in similar situations all the time at work (home health aide). I’ve been homeless, found out my mother was in a coma, fiance left me, etc etc and then had to go to work and get hit and bit and screamed at by a disabled kid. I understand the frustration, I really do. You know what works though?

When they’re whiny and/or combative (not from being sick or injured of course) set them up with some toys or a small drink and snack in the living room, announce that you need a break and then go sit for 10 or 15 mins in the dining room where you can see them out of the corner of your eye. She could have played yoville then. OR alternatively, she could have started looking for alternative housing or a new job for that 15 mins (especially if the babygirl was running around fussy)

Even if there was some magical way we could prevent everybody but the nicest people in the world from breeding, sooner or later you’d still get some asshole who likes to beat/rape children.

Our species loves to heap abuse on the weak. Always has, always will.

  • wyrosjr

That is a pretty bleak view of the future. Magic wouldn’t be required at all. We decide which animals breed already and it works. We could start with policies preventing vile people from reproducing.

  • pikeman

They already tried that and it didn’t work. It’s called “Eugenics”.

  • Anonymous

I prefer to think of it as realistic.

  • http://www.facebook.com/JellyBellyMomma Kimberly Hanselman

And that’s why I am too paranoid to allow my son to be in the care of a babysitter. You just can’t trust people! Poor little girl :-( My condolences go out to the family!

  • wyrosjr

It is inevitably going to happen. Pikeman is right that the first big push for something like that was called “Eugenics” and it was horribly implemented. It has a negative connotation now because of the atrocities associated with it. I just don’t see any other way for the future though? At x point in the future, our ability to produce resources for the huge numbers of people on the planet, won’t be able to keep up. Quality of life and living standards inevitably will have to go down. Our ability to invest in research and development will suffer. I guess we will start to worry about it when we reach a crisis point. Kind of an irresponsible way to go about things though. How many will suffer?
Always a favorite subject of mine here since reading “Brave New World”. I also saw the movie “Gattaca” again recently, I suppose that is why it is on my mind.

Well housing will not be a problem anymore.

Why do all of these nasty abusive people get into child care?  There are plenty of jobs that welcome such: customer service, the IRS, collections…

  • Hekate

    Yoville? really?

I play warcraft (yes dammit thats right i play WARCRAFT!!) and i cant even begin to imagine neglecting my cat much less my kids for it….
this bitch had no business caring for a sponge much less a child if she was that stressed out and needed ‘yoville’ to relax…. i hope they not only throw the book at her but the book hits her square between the eyes….
    stupid twunt

  • Hekate

    lol
(sniffs) is that bacon??? do you have bacon??? i need the bacon!!!

Lmao, yea its a combo of twat and cunt. It sounds a little more PG-ish and at the same time degrading, I actually stole the word from my mother in law, lol. I love her sense of humor!

  • Anonymous

It’s “twat” + “cunt”, I’ve been using it for a few years now.  ”Twaffle” is “twat waffle” abbreviated.

  • AliceinChainsman =]

    /yoville and Gaia disturb me

YoVille is such crap.  I don’t know why anyone would want to play that shit.

That’s what happens when you interrupt natural selection.  It sounds harsh but if we did away with all the government entitlement programs like welfare and medicaid natural selection would once again support the survival of the strongest and most fit.  We are currently weakening our own gene pool because we think emotionally instead of logically when it come to social issues.  Let the chips fall where they may and let our species advance, not everyone will make it but it would be better for all those that do.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kennyhackett Kenny Hackett

Every time I read one of these stories I still fail to grasp how some one could hurt such a little person.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kennyhackett Kenny Hackett

    Maybe the DMV wasn’t hiring.

  • Canuck Gramz

I am pretty impressed with your work ethic and how you haven’t let your life’s tragedies knock you down.

  • Canuck Gramz

I have been told by many young parents that it’s becoming harder and harder to get good child care. The good ones are full , the bad ones make you shudder at sending your child there. I can’t imagine how it feels to have to place your precious child in the hands of a sitter , praying they are as good as their references say. Some parents send their kids to someone they have doubts about, so they can get to work and put a roof over their heads and food in their kids bellies.  I was wondering, are parents allowed to ask a sitter and/or daycare to do a criminal records check and the parents see it? I’m thinking a lie detector might be a handy tool ( along with umpteen hidden cameras) but I think the law would frown on that

I recently heard that there are more starving people on this planet today than there were people alive a generation ago. I maintain, as I have on various other forums, that a three- digit IQ score should be the qualifier for being allowed to hold onto your wobbly bits. There are simply too many thick people making babies and beating them, starving them, abusing them etc. I’m not saying that it’s only the knuckle- draggers among us who have the capacity for a lack of regard for human rights, but it certainly isn’t AS prevalent. It’s difficult to be a bad mother or caregiver when you aren’t living in a trailer that’s been converted into a makeshift meth lab, you know?

  • wyrosjr

You and Kenny both have valid arguments. Too bad logic isn’t guiding our policy.

God bless you, you just made my day! :-)

Now the kids dead, and everyone is pissed.  Who was pissed as the kid was getting beaten everytime the babysitter was on duty?  Nobody?  I guess it’s more popular to mourn, than to be proactive and actually RAISE your kid.

you are a very good example of a survivor
