Man High On Bath Salts Arrested After Drinking Hand Sanitizer At Grocery StoreLouisville, KY – Hope you people aren’t sick to death of all the bath salt stories yet, cause I have another one coming your way in 3…2…1

Police were called out to a Kroger grocery store earlier this month after receiving a report of a man damaging merchandise and chuggin’ hand sanitizer inside the store.

When police arrived on scene, they found 28-year-old Bahad Mahmoud in the parking lot of a nearby Walgreen’s, yelling at passers-by. After an officer identified himself and asked Mahmoud to kindly stop with the freakish behavior, Mahmoud reportedly took off running. The officer was then forced to deploy his Taser and Mahmoud went down.

As paramedics attempted to examine the agitated Mahmoud, police say he spit in one officer’s face. Surprisingly enough, that didn’t earn him the beat down he truly deserved.

Once he was treated and released from the hospital, Mahmoud was booked into jail on charges of assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Police have reason to believe dude was under the influence of bath salts at the time of the incident.

Now, threatening to gut your elderly mother with a machete while under the influence of bath salts is one thing, but drinking hand sanitizer? That’s just fucking weird…

      Nothing new in the UK. Hand sanitizer is regularly stolen from hospitals, as it’s alcohol-based (except for the brand called Hibiscrub). ‘Bath salts’, by the way, are a hallucinogenic substance which (like many dubious others) are sold legally under other purposes, but which cause highs and amphetamine-like euphoria. Loophole drugs like these are the real concern.

      I, for one, appreciate the continued “bath salt” coverage.  A couple months ago, now, an uncle of mine came up from CA.  While visiting at my dad’s house, he was like, “So, how ’bout this ‘bath salt’ craziness?”  I was not surprised that my uncle was hip enough to be aware of what appears to be an emerging trend, but I was impressed.  He had no idea, though, the extent of it, so I send him updates from the site about the issue.  :P

      That, and I must say, they’re the most consistently interesting drug encounters I’ve heard of.  Chugging hand sanitizer?  Fucking awesome.

      I would really like it it if we started calling it Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), though. It’s not “bath salts” that get you high (and make you crazy), it’s MDPV. It’s just being sold as bath salts for legal reasons.

      Exactly! I had two acquaintances that ran out of money for drugs and decided to make morning glory tea to get high. They said that even though they went temporarily blind and couldn’t find the way out of their hotel room, that the hallucinations were fantastic and that they had a great time right up until the hotel staff let the police in to arrest them.

      P.S. For those of you considering trying this out, DON’T. Morning glories are poisonous.

      I knew a guy who ran out of money for drugs, who started drinking the juice from random cacti in people’s front yards. He said you would throw up a couple of hours later, and then hallucinate for like three days and it was so cool! I declined his offer of cactus juice, and lost touch with him for a while. The next time I saw him, he was telling me about how he understood now that his destiny was to be the modern Joseph (basically to be the step-dad of the messiah) and he knew it was true because he found this special stick in the gutter. And he was sober…

      He just never came back from that trip. He was a really nice guy, too- not bright, but nice. I used to see him around town, but haven’t in years. I’m sure he’s one of those crazy homeless people wandering around some big city. It’s very sad.  :-(

      Whether it’s plants or “bath salts”, you shouldn’t just put shit in your body that you don’t understand. Getting high isn’t worth that.

      I politely disagree.  While you are, as you often are, quite technically correct, I rather like the enhanced retardedness the term “bath salts” lends to the user.  

      Getting high on MDPV actually sounds kind of legitimate.  Getting high on “bath salts” will forever – by its very nature – be associated with douchebaggery. :P

      I’m not willing to sacrifice accuracy for the sake of douchebaggery, at least not when there are drugs involved. People should be as educated as possible about drugs. And if there’s one thing these stories already have enough of, it’s douchebaggery.  :-p

      Maybe if people start thinking of this chemical as, well, a chemical, they’ll think twice about eating it. “Bath salts” sound so harmless. Eventually some moron is going to eat magnesium sulfate and shit himself to death. And as interesting of a FP article as that will make, I don’t need that visual over my morning coffee.

      haha!  I have never seen them and I too picture them like that.  But yes for now they are legal.  FL just passed a law outlawing them and soon many states will follow.

      1)  That depends on the locality.  You can learn about legal issues at Erowid.  Search for “bath salts” once you’re there.

      2)  This product is not actually intended for bathing.  It is called “bath salts” and labeled “not for human consumption” to evade FDA regulations.  Erowid can give you more information; in order to respect their copyrights, I am referring you to them for this information instead of cutting and pasting it.

      3)  The “bath salts” contain a chemical identified as MDPV.  It has stimulant and hallucinogenic properties.
