Priest Arrested After Exposing Himself To Deputy On Sarasota Beach

SARASOTA, FL — Police have arrested a priest during an undercover investigation into indecent activities being reported on Caspersen Beach.

The Sarasota Sheriff’s Office says during their investigation on Tuesday, Father Bernard Chojnacki groped an undercover detective and exposed himself. The 36-year-old then stated his desire to perform a sexual act before getting his ass arrested and charged with Exposure of Sexual Organs and Battery. Which, to be honest, I thought was a chapter out of the Catholic Priest Indoctrination Manual.

Choknacki was appointed the position of Parochial Vicar of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Port Charlotte back in 2009. The Diocese of Venice placed Chojnacki on administrative leave “until the situation comes to some sort of resolution” and released the following statement in an attempt alleviate anyone’s fears that he worked with children at the church:

“The charges against Father Chojnacki are unsettling. This is a sad time for the both the Parish and the Diocese, and matters of this nature are taken very seriously. Father Chojnacki’s principal assignment was as Parochial Vicar to St. Charles Borromeo Parish, and as such had no official teaching assignment with the Parish’s school.”

Chojnacki is currently free after posted bond.

whats great is that when the issue is “resolved” and he comes back to the church he will tell a tale of how the devil got the better of him and not how he is a skeevy perv. I think public sex should be illegal because some people are not voyeurs, but in this case this priest was not being arrested for pedophilia which many hear might find shocking.

Without getting on my soap box (for too long), expecting humans to be asexual is just stupid and unfair. Does god prescribe this or control freaks in a church. I can only guess the priests, before they were priests, were terrified about being found out they were homosexuals.

I feel for this guy. I actually think he is a good looking man and I hope the church pays for and supports this guy while getting another degree, resigning from the priesthood, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Hmm. I’ve never really thought about it before, but the Catholic Church is what happens when you take some of the traditionally smartest, most educated men, and ensure that for centuries they focus entirely on enriching one organization, without transferring any of their wealth or the fruits of their labors to women or children, and (theoretically) without the distraction of sex. You end up with one of the richest groups on the planet, who control (to varying degrees) over a billion people, and who occasionally have sex with children and strange men on the beach.

Not sure what to make of that…

As I have previously mentioned, I am not in any way approving of public bathroom sex for many reasons. I do think the undercover police officer gave him com hither signs which I also think is unfair.

The whole situation is a mess and I hope everyone recognizes this guy is attracted to men and not children.

Yeah, there’s a huge difference between a man groping someone because they were signalling they wanted to be groped, and just grabbing at an unsuspecting stranger. Without video, there’s no way to tell what really happened.

I’m just saying keep it out of the bathrooms, and don’t grope/assault others. There are plenty of gay clubs with willing participants. If the cop told him to come hither…ok…but if not, its assault and there are plenty of places where people are gay friendly, and the pickens are probably better too.

I’m with John, given the chances of getting the shit kicked out of you for groping a unwilling guy, I’ll bet the cop was giving him the come-hither. After all, the cop was there to catch someone having willing bathroom sex, not because someone had been assaulting beach-goers.

As a female, I will never know how often men get randomly solicited for gay sex in bathrooms. But I’m okay with that.

Whether or not she works, chances are most of what he (as well as she) makes goes to support the family. And throughout history, men have had far greater opportunities to earn wealth. I’m not specifically talking about priests today, I’m talking about throughout the centuries that men have been giving up having families in order to give everything they have and can earn to the church.
