Las Vegas Teacher Charged With Abusing Disabled StudentLas Vegas, NV — A special education teacher at West Prep Academy is facing child abuse charges after allegedly forcing a 13-year-old student to punch himself multiple times in the head.

Margaret Boyett, 41, has been teaching autistic students at the school since 2009, but her future employment at the school, or any school for that matter, isn’t looking so hot after being accused of abusing one of her students in February.

She has been accused of grabbing a 7th grader by the wrist and forcing him to hit himself  ”7 to 8 times” in the head in an attempt to make him apologize for something. A teacher’s aide was in the room at the time and yelled for Boyett to stop. She even had to grab Boyett’s arm to keep her from slapping the boy.

The aide immediately reported the incident to school officials who in turn notified the police the following day. Investigators attempted to question the victim, but because of his disability, documents say he was “unable to comprehend the event and form a cognitive statement.”

On Tuesday, Boyett was arrested in her lawyer’s office and was being held on a $6,000 bail, under the alias Margie Terranova (?), until her first court appearance sometime today. Boyett has been assigned home duty and is not allowed back in the school.

      6000 dollar bond, that’s a joke! I think if she wants to get out of jail, she should have to hit herself really hard in the head several times with a monkey wrench. “No that’s not hard enough, Ms Boyett. Now, if you want to get out of jail, you’ll have to do better! Now I want to hear a good “whack”, and there better be some blood too. Otherwise, you will have to stay in jail.”

      I can. I hate anyone who doesn’t know when to quit, be it a teacher, a cop, a machinist…

      If you’re in a position where your frustration will adversely affect those around you and you refuse to quit, you’re a bad, selfish person.

      I can only imagine how hard it would be to work with disabled kids. I doubt I could do it… So I don’t try. And that’s what makes me better than this woman. I know I can have a short fuse at times, so I make sure not to put myself into a position where my frustration will be taken out on innocent people.

      I am not defending her actions in the least, but I think she may have been in denial… maybe not. I think she just lost it at the moment and fortunately there was a rational adult near-by.

      I deal with this fear every single day I send my son to school. My son was diagnosed with autism when he was about 3 years old…

      My son is 3 1/2 and was diagnosed last May. He’s in an intermediate preschool right now, and his teacher is wonderful, but she has 3 aids with her to help, and only has 5 students. We don’t have great public schools here where I’m at, and most of them can even provide proper education for Autistic children. :(

      I’d be more with you if she had hauled off and smacked him herself in a moment of weakness. Instead, she forced this kid to repeatedly hit himself. That strikes me as fairly calculated… contrary to the “lost it” theory. But that’s just my take on it.

      Ok,maybe I should of not used those picituliar words and apolgize for them. I am very fustrated that so many people think that my child should not be treated with dignity and respect and can act like he is a  punching bag.My law forces me to put him into school so they are the one who needs to provide teachers who are not going to abuse them.They would lock me up and Id never see day light if that was me abusing.
