Ian Roderiquez Pleads Not Guilty To Torturing Family, Killing Teen Son

San Bernardino, CA — Got an update, of sorts, on the story Morbid posted about Ian Roderiquez last week. You remember him, right? He’s the man accused of torturing his family, killing his son in the process. Well, it appears as if the story is a lot worse than most of us could have imagined.
According to a police report filed on Friday, Ian’s 12-year-old son, Gabriel, told investigators the proverbial shit started hitting the fan at about 10:00 Tuesday evening, after Ian accused his family of stealing his drugs. Gabriel told police Ian began beating the family with a monkey wrench, and the beatings and torture continued for nearly 11 hours.
Daughters Daniella,10, and Yasmine, 8, told investigators their father forced them to walk barefoot on broken glass. When Daniella refused to lay down in the glass, she said her father poured bleach on her and threatened to set her on fire. Both girls also claim to have been beaten with a metal pipe.
Gabriel told police his father stabbed his mother, Sujal, with a pair of “shears” and bludgeoned her with the monkey wrench. Gabriel also told police his brother, 16-year-old Richard, had been beaten with the monkey wrench, too.
After taking Ian into custody on the 23rd, police entered the home to find one helluva bloody mess. The family was in the garage – Sujal was laying on a twin bed box spring, bleeding from several stab wounds. The surviving children were all found to be suffering from blunt-force trauma wounds.
Richard’s bloodied and broken body was found underneath a car seat. Police say the boy had numerous stab wounds to his body and legs, a possible broken leg, blunt-force trauma to his left hand and multiple skull fractures. The coroner told police the boy had been dead anywhere from 10 to 18 hours.
All four children were able to recount the horror for investigators – Sujal was only able to give a brief statement before she was taken into surgery. Daniella and Yasmine were released from the hospital Wednesday night and placed in protective custody. Jacob and Gabriel are still hospitalized, as is Sujal – she remains listed in critical condition.
When police sat down to interview Ian on the 23rd, he reportedly told investigators his children were “thieves and liars.” He requested a lawyer after being read his Miranda rights and the interview ended. However, seems Ian just couldn’t STFU, and as he was being photographed, he continued to spew his bullshit…
He said his wife was responsible for the injuries to the children, and when he left his home to speak with the deputies, all of his family members “were okay and standing up.” He further claimed that Sujal was trying to frame him and injured herself by striking a bed post and a bed frame with her body.
“We’re still continuing the investigation but we have to take our time,” said Sgt. Don Lupear. “The family is not only injured but they’re traumatized as well.”
Ian pleaded not guilty Friday to one count of murder, one count of attempted murder, four counts of torture, and four counts of child abuse. He is on suicide watch.
