Woman Gets 20 Years For Sexually Abusing Daughter On Webcam

Julie Carr Woman Gets 20 Years For Sexually Abusing Daughter On WebcamBangor, Maine – Back in 2009 (when Rotten Apple didn’t hate my guts) we informed you of Julie “Mucklebones” Carr, the Maine woman who sexually abused her young daughter on webcam for the pleasure of a teen in the UK.

On Monday, she was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Authorities in the UK were contacted by a woman after a teenager, Nicholas Wilde, sent her 16-year-old daughter child porn. Wilde was tracked down, arrested and had his computer seized. Investigators would find various images and videos of child pornography involving children as young as 18-months.

They would also find video of Carr, 33, sexually abusing her 2-year-old daughter on camera, following Wilde’s instructions.

Carr was tracked down and charged with gross sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a minor. She pleaded guilty in February 2010. Wilde admitted to 10 charges of making, possessing or distributing indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornography and two charges of incitement to commit sexual assault of a child under 13.

On Monday,U.S. District Judge John Woodcock sentenced Carr to 20 years in prison saying he had dealt with many child pornography cases and hers was the worst he’d ever seen.

“I have always thought possession was bad enough, but production is another level of evil,” the judge added. “It never crossed my mind that [pornography] would be the child’s mother. The most natural response, after revulsion, is protecting the child.”

Wilde was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison last February.

“You have your whole life ahead of you and the potential to re-offend is very great,” said Judge Hilary Watson at the time of Wilde’s sentencing.

All four of Carr’s children were removed from her, and are reportedly doing well.

    Of interest, this did not make the national news, as it would have if it involved a man perpetrator. Note, they are not referring to her as a pedophile. And, if memory serves me right, she cannot be required to register as one when she is released from prison as Maine is one of the majority of states that does not recognize that women can be pedophiles. There was a similar case some years ago involving a 13 year old girl who was sexually abusing children she was babysitting, recording it, and sending it out over the Internet.

    This is one of the bias in this area as female pedophiles are not treated the same as the males, and worse, they can use for child support if a young boy gets her pregnant.

    So what happens now with the children? Will their father(s) get them? Did the father(s) try to previously get the courts to do something, as they suspected the children were being abused, but no one would believe a mother would harm her own children. Will the children be put into foster care and the father(s) ordered to pay for it, AND for their psychological treatment into perpetuity?

    She can and likely will be placed on Maine’s Sex Offender Registry. The registry is not dependent on the term “pedophile”; anyone convicted of a qualifying offense gets placed on it. There are currently women on this registry.

    If Maine will not recognize women as pedophiles, that would be marvelously archaic and inaccurate, but as Morbid pointed out, this instance does not automatically qualify her as a pedophile. Pedophilia is a diagnosable mental illness. Not all child molesters qualify.

    And there’s no reason to believe that a case like this would necessarily make national news if it were a man. There are dozens of cases of men abusing children on webcam or for the purpose of sharing it with individuals on the internet that weren’t exactly covered on the evening news.

    There is a notable pro-female bias in family courts, which is unfortunate as I believe all cases should be judged on individual merit. But, generally speaking, men haven’t exactly been a great advocate for themselves when you consider the vast number of children who grow up without a father and the significant amount who go to great lengths to avoid paying child support. Did you know that just under 1/3 of white children grow up without a father in their lives for extended periods of time? That percentage jumps to just over 1/3 for Hispanic children, and a frightening 66% for black children. Stereotypes will continue to exist for as long as that is the case, unfortunately.
