Calvert City, KY — After receiving reports of two small children wandering along I-24, state troopers responded to the area and found a 2-year-old child lying on the inside edge of the westbound lane. The child had a large laceration to the back of the head. Walking in the opposite direction, a woman carrying a 5-year-old child. The woman was later identified as the mother of the children - 29-year-old Cynthia Palmer.

Palmer told police that she and her children were traveling to Fort Campbell, TN., when she began hallucinating from the bath salts she had snorted earlier in the day. The hallucinations reportedly led her to pull off the roadway and exit the vehicle with her children. As she struggled to carry them both, she apparently dropped the younger one on his head and continued walking, leaving him behind.

The 2-year-old was transported to the hospital for treatment, the 5-year-old was taken into custody by Social Services, and Palmer was booked on charges of assault, wanton endangerment and public intoxication.

I would lay money that this is exactly what happened to my younger sister. My mom sniffed the salts and dropped her.

I didn’t even know that bath salts could be sniffed for that purpose. Dreamin’ Demon: Not just for news or a laugh. Learn a little sumptim too. Thanks for the lesson Jaded. I love you, you are amazing.

WTH? Spice? Bath Salts? Who is coming up with these “new” designer drugs… and why the fuck are people so quick to be “beta testers”??

You have kids and you turn yourself into a lab rat while caring for them? Automatic LIFETIME LOSS of parenting PRIVILEGES! Sick and tired of irresponsible idiots snorting, shooting, smoking or popping anything and everything because their “reality” is just too tough. Yet… they don’t hesitate to bring innocent, defenseless children into their miserable “realities” to suffer right along side of them.

This bitch has angered me to the “nth” degree. Fail on every level and of epic proportions. Those poor babies! I hope and pray she doesn’t get another chance to raise kill them.

(CBS) There’s a new designer drug that’s raising alarm with authorities around the country. It’s referred to as “bath salts,” but it’s really a dangerous stimulant with effects akin to cocaine or meth.
“The name sounds harmless. In reality, they are anything but harmless. These contain a designer or synthetic drug, mephedrone or MDPV. It’s an amphetamine. They’re marketed as bath salts and you can find them online or in stores under names like Zoom 2 or Aura. Our producer found them very easily in New York City. When she asked for them, she was told, ‘Wow, they’re flying off the shelves. It’s a good thing you’re getting these.’”
Hill added, “One of our researchers was told these will get you really high.”

We have had one other bath salt story featured here…

…and I’m sure we’ll be seeing plenty more.

I would like to take this opportunity to lol at the comment at the top of the banner. love those!

“i dont think your website is good first off of advertising it with a hudge demon on our website” — Person Who Unintentionally Named Our Demon

What is it with bath salts? I’ve seen some articles in the forums lately about kids abusing it. This is the first “adult” I have seen. Ok, womanchild. I saw the Washington State lawmakers, who are sitting around ignoring major problems while waiting for a high profile problem to make a law about, have jumped on this. I am concerned once they outlaw bathsalts, people will begin huffing hairspray. That will be the demise of the esteemed beehive hairdoo.
    You just can’t fix stupid.

I cannot, and will probably never, understand what the “draw” is to get so completely fucked up like this. WHY is that something that people are interested in doing, and WHAT THE FUCK makes them think it’s any kind of a good idea?!?!? Honestly, sometimes I just cannot believe that I am the same species as these individuals… embarrassed to be, truly. Stupid fucking hag; I hope she never sees her kids again, and has a brain cell or two left to realize that she might actually have loved them and may miss having them. Grrrr….. >:(

Funny, I never thought of bath salts as a designer drug, but I am with you 100% on the “beta tester” idea. Could it be desperate crack head types geeking and trying anything for their next high? What’s next? Pencil shavings or have they been tried and marked a “fail?”

  • Anonymous

I read up on these “bath salts” they were never meant to be actual “bath salts” that is just the way that they sell them legally is to market it as such…they were like the spice stuff .. legal pot and legal coke…people do not actually use them in their baths…

  • Anonymous

@Z: Thanks for the clarification. I thought “bath salts” were the same “bath salts” that women use when soaking in a tub.

The article you provided reminds me of “poppers” that some people sniff during sex and makes their mouth taste like a chemistry class, but are marketed as air fresheners.

She looks like Sissy Spacek in “Carrie” when “Carrie” would be putting a hurtin’ on somebody!

Seriously, kinda grateful that she did this and was arrested, now maybe, the children wiil have a fair chance at a happy and successful life!

This new fad gives a whole new meaning to those old commercials, “Calgon, take me away”

  • Parrot Toes

Crap. I wish I had read this before hitting up my bath supply. All I got was a headache and I hyperventilated. I either destroyed my olfactory glands or everything is going to smell like lavender from now on.
    :P

I thought bath salts were for BATHING!

I think I’ma flush my Epsom Salts down before my kid gets a go at them & decides that she can climb the wall like Mickey.

I’ll sit back & wait cause I know some idiot out there is snortin’ Epsom Salts as we speak & we’ll see them featured here. It’s just a matter of time.

  • Anonymous

WTF? You mean I just rushed out to Bed, Bath & Beyond and bought out their entire collection of bath salts for nothing?

It explains why my head is pounding and can’t smell anything other than lavender! Grrrr!!!

We had two girls wind up in the ER one weekend over this. (They were separate incidents.) Our legislators had an emergency meeting and banned them. I’m surprised they “got here” before elsewhere as I live in North Dakota and we’re the last to get everything!

  • Summer

Yep. As soon as I read the headline of this story, I was immediately reminded of that crazy bitch and her machete. Given the reaction people tend to have with this shit, I don’t think I will be trying to snort bath salts any time soon.

Another pathetic breeder crashes and burns.
I can’t wait to hear how shes the victim in all this.
It must be great to have nothing better to do than find new and bazaar ways to fry the few brain cells you were born with,

  • Anonymous

They really need to do something about these bath salts I keep on hearing more and more about these. Before too long they are going to be as popular as meth.

  • Taterbugs

The more I read these stories the more I think the world is going to end up like the movie, “idiocracy” …hopefully, not in my time though..

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKSJ42VBXNAFJLOH54Y3K4KTXU Heather Habilatory

That person might be me. But I’d get the epsom salt confused with the saline to put in my neti pot, while I was high off Sudafed or some shit. I can totally see this happening now. I need to go label some stuff really well….

  • Jessie

Bath salts?? Wow! Seems to me that people are using anything to get high lately. To be honest I also thought bath salts were for baths, not to get high, lol I feel so uneducated into todays drug world.

  • melb1970

Does any one remember “whippits”? I am pretty sure it was nitrous oxide. you purchased them in tiny canisters at the local gourmet supply house- they were made to fit in whipped cream dispensers.
I can’t say I ever saw them at truck tops though,. ….
Now that was a long time ago.

  • melb1970

Don’t flush the Epsoms those thing are awesome for healing all kinds of wounds. i would say trying to snort them would hurt like hell.

All of this stuff is very dangerous. I worked as a volunteer in a public drug rehab. A couple of the teenagers had to be committed to a psychiatric hospital because they had burned out most of the receptors in their brains. There was no hope for them and there is very little chance that out of a mental hospital would they be able to care for themselves.

People are calling bath salts a “designer drug”? And you buy them at truck stops? Well, they do keep you looking so youthful! I thought the pic was the mom too…
