Man Arrested After Asking 911 Dispatcher If His Pot Growing Was IllegalFarmington, Conn – We post about some real stupid people on this site, but rarely do we get stories featuring the level of dumb as Robert J. Michelson. The man waited until after he spent a good amount buying items to grow marijuana before calling 911 to ask them for legal advice. He wanted to know if what he was doing was illegal. You can listen to the call here, but this is the transcript of the call he made last Thursday evening:

Dispatcher: 911, what’s your emergency?
Michelson: Uh, let’s not get into that yet.
Dispatcher: If it’s not an emergency you don’t call 911 sir.
Michelson: Well, I have a legal question.
Dispatcher: Is it life threatening or an active crime in progress?
Michelson: Crime in progress possibly.
Dispatcher: What’s going on?
Michelson: I was just growing some marijuana and I was just wondering what, how much trouble you can get in for one plant.
Dispatcher: You’re growing marijuana and you want to know…depends on how big the plant is?
Michelson: It’s only a seedling.
Dispatcher: Well, it’s possession. You can get pinched for a roach in the car.
Michelson: All right, thanks for the info.

Now not only is he out of his weed, he’s also been charged with illegal cultivation, possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cops traced his call to 911 to his address and found a bit of pot as well as the items he had bought to grow and smoke it. Derp.

      Ok the guy is obviously a dumbshit and does not need to be smoking his own product but seriously? Does this idiot and his aspirations of growing his own weed warrant the police attention he received? It does not sound like he got very far in the process to begin and it is only marijuana – I imagine if the police have nothing better to do with their time in Connecticut, it must be a very safe community to live in.

      Dumb fucks like this guy are why we won’t see it legalized for public consumption in our lifetime. Maybe (big maybe) for medical use – but not recreational.

      I’m on the fence anyway. I know some people who can smoke a blunt or 5 a day and be pretty highly functional — but I also know I am not alone in that, when I have “partaken” in a toke or two, I cease to be functional in every area but one – the bedroom…. if ya get my drift ;-) Then again, I can’t hold my liquor, either.
      There is no way as of yet to tell how long ago someone smoked by measuring THC levels. Because it attaches to fat cells, I would imagine a fat person who smokes a few times a week would hang on to it a lot longer than a skinny one who smokes daily – and therefore, the fat person could get “pinched” days after their last joint. Feel free to correct me if I’m misstating.

      Still… this dude is a prime example of people who should never have access to the stuff! But… if it is legalized … they will.

      No, pot will remain illegal because the country’s populace is still very religious, and getting high is deemed immoral. Religious sensibilities caused the alcohol prohibition, too.

      Oh Andy, normally I would so agree with you as I do see Pot not being what should be the number one thing to get people jail time by no means, however when you calling 911 to ask the cops about it, LOL, um, you probably need to be stopped before you hurt yourself… LOL

      Actually, most of the opposition here in California during the election was from tight-assed people who were afraid of the “second hand smoke” that would be everywhere if it were legalized (who, I guess would be the same type of moralistic people, but they weren’t saying it was evil or anything, just “evil for their chilldrun”). The thing is…the pro-legalization people need to stop smoking it and increase alternative consumption (particularly food) and ALSO promote it as such–it’s “herb” in the culinary sense as well as colloquial. I can’t smoke it anymore (I have med. pot for my medical issues), but I can eat it…I actually prefer it that way.
