San Diego, CA — As Morbid reported back in December, Lisa Hench, a 45-year-old real estate agent, pleaded guilty to eight misdemeanor counts of corporal injury to a child after several parents accused her of purposely and severely scratching and pinching their infants.

For the click impaired, Hench reportedly befriended parents of young children and asked to hold their babies. Once the kiddos were cradled in her arms, she’d get to pinching and scratching. Once she got ‘em good and pissed off, she’d hand ‘em back to the parents – scratched, bruised and bloodied. The eight children, all between the ages of 3- and 19-months, were injured on different occasions over a span of four months. As one mother said, “There were pinches, bruises, bloodied scratches. There had been skin torn off from a toe.”

Hench admitted to injuring the children, but never explained what motivated her to do such a thing. In court on Tuesday, the sobbing mother of three apologized to the parents of the young victims. “I truly am, I’m truly, truly sorry. I’m truly sorry that this happened,” said Hench. “Having my own children makes me feel even worse for what I did because I wouldn’t someone to do that to my children … I can’t imagine being in your shoes and I’m sorry I was the cause of it.”

Superior Court Judge Michael Smyth said Hench’s actions were “predatory in nature,” and handed down her sentence – two years behind bars and four years probation. Hench’s attorney says both sides agree there is a mental illness involved, but no one seems to know exactly what it is. Hench is in therapy and taking medication to deal with her psychological issues. Now that she has received her sentence, she has 45 days in which to turn herself in.

2 years in jail for pinchin’ babies? Yeah, it’s not a nice thing to do…but come on, that seems a little excessive, doesn’t it?

I don’t really think so. She caused physical injury to these children. It isn’t as if this was an irritating aunt with a habit of pinching kids cheeks. We are talking about severely scratching and pinching 8 babies, leaving the BLOODY and BRUISED. She intentionally hurt these young children for apparently no reason. If you are scratching a baby hard enough to rip the skin off of his/her toe, you deserve some time behind bars. And some serious psychological help.

She probably has some underlying mental disorder. What I don’t understand is how the hell did she pinch 8 BABIES. 8 of them! 1 pinched baby is one too many, but the parents are at fault as well. If that first parent would have said something about it the rest of the babies wouldn’t get needlessly hurt.

The only thing that pisses me off about the sentence is that she will probably serve more time than some of the pricks out there that do more damage to children than this chick did. Its all in the judge, and some of them aint worth 2 pints of panther piss.

Two years seems fair – I would love to know the psychology behind her actions though – she is pretty nutty getting her kicks like that – it sounds so pathological and strange

I’m not gonna judge on the sentence, but if she did that to my baby . . . . she would wish she can spend the rest of her life in jail . . just saying.

    Baby Scratcher Learns her Sentence

SAN DIEGO – A prominent La Jolla real estate agent who scratched eight neighborhoods babies over a four-month period is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday.

Lisa Hench, 45, pleaded guilty last month to eight misdemeanor counts of corporal injury on a child.

The defendant scratched the children — ages 3 months to 19 months — at different locations in the fall of 2009, said Deputy District Attorney Patrick Ojeil.

It was not clear what motivated Hench — a mother of three — to scratch the children, some of whom she knew.

Prosecutors probably will ask that Hench not be forced to serve time in jail unless she gets in trouble again, Ojeil said.

    Story from December 8:

SAN DIEGO – The bizarre case of a prominent La Jolla real estate agent 45-year-old Lisa Hench was back in court today.

Hench pleaded guilty to 8 misdemeanor counts of corporal injury on a child.

Hench scratched the children in the fall of 2009. The children’s ages at the time of the incidents ranged from 3 to 19 months.

“Yes your honor,” today in court with her attorney Steven Feldman present, Hench pleaded guilty to 8 misdemeanor counts.

She could be in prison for 8 years, but it’s likely she’ll get probation and not significant jail time.

Lainie Carswell is the mother of Jori Carswell. Jori was one of the babies scratched by Hench. Carswell told San Diego 6, “I believe that she’s still doing it and I think it’s probably just a matter of time before she gets caught doing it again.”

Carswell says since the incident, Hench has violated her restraining order three times, moved to Del Mar and treated the incident’s as a misunderstanding. She says, “we expected to see a little more remorse today when we saw her and we did not see any.”

Kelly Frederick is the mother of Charlie Frederick. Charlie was also scratched by Hench. She says, “As a parent I felt violated on behalf of my child.”

The parents say Hench would make friends with the mother’s of the children at a La Jolla school. They say she then would ask to hold them or play with them. When she got them in her arms, the parents say, she would shake them and scratch them, in front of the parents.

Frederick says it wasn’t just the feet of the children Hench targeted. She says her son’s ears were scratched as well by the 45-year-old mother of three.

We contacted Hench’s attorney Steven Feldman who didn’t return our call.

Hench is scheduled to be sentenced January 25th. Frederick hopes Hench gets help. “I don’t know her heart and I don’t pretend to I can only say that my family hopes that she will seek the help that she needs.”
