Beard’s four kids were part of the 50 children hand-picked this year and were able to purchase approximately $600 dollars worth of clothes and toys. But police say the next day Beard returned $100 of those toys back to the store they were purchased from. After pocketing the cash, she then went to another location and tried to return another $66 worth of donations. She was arrested and charged with theft, but says it’s all just a big muisunderstanding. The 28-year-old says that she returned the donated toys for items the children needed, although police say she has not been able to produce receipts backing up that statement. Beard has a previous history of fraud, the police report mentioning Beard being deceptive for food stamps and assisted living expenses. Two of the children’s fathers added that the children are not needy.
