Teenager Rescues Boy From Pit Bull Attack

GRANT, MI – A Michigan teenager proved that teens can do more than eat all of your food or create obscenely high Verizon Wireless bills when he was credited with saving a boy being attacked by a pit bull. Ishmael Melton, 13, his 12-year-old brother Solomon, and 11-year-old sister Arianna were shooting basketball in the neighborhood when they were confronted with a pit bull. The dog attacked Ishmael and began chewing on his leg, causing injuries that would require a dozen stitches. It could’ve been much worse had it not been for 16-year-old Ivan Kern who was walking nearby. He heard Arianna’s screams for help and ran to Ishmael’s aide, punching the dog in the jaw until it let go and putting it into a choke hold until Ishmael could get away. The dog is currently in the custody of animal control and belongs to a family who say it got out of the house when a family member was taking out the trash. They also added the dog had never shown any signs of being aggressive or bitten anyone before. It could be the dog was just playing with the kid, albeit roughly. But if it was or wasn’t, this attack comes on the eve of Grant leaders deciding on if aggressive breeds of dog will be allowed in city limits. Watch the following video where it is noted that the family who owns the dog do not speak English, proving dogs that attack red-headed white kids with Biblical names are only owned by illegals, black people and the Devil.

I have a couple dog-loving friends who are extremely anti-breed specific legislation, but after reading this site for probably a couple years I don’t know… it definitely seems like pit bulls may be too aggressive to be considered good pets in general. Pit Bulls are a favorite pet in my area, most people I know who have a dog, have a pit bull… I’ve also run into wandering pits on three separate occasions in my city. I have never seen one be anything but loving…

Actually, that isn’t true. I have a relative who owned a Pit Bull, and they would put it outside on a harness before they got their back yard fenced in. One day the dog escaped, ran down to a major street, and was grazed by a car. She came home and they tried to make it work for about a week before deciding they had to put her down… she was having seizures, and whenever she came out of one she’d start snapping and growling at people. This from a dog that had always been nothing but docile and affectionate.

It definitely seems that Pit Bulls have aggressive behavior hard-wired into their brains much more than any other commonly owned breed, and people who aren’t absolutely positive of their ability to control their animal at all times probably shouldn’t own one.

He didn’t compare Pits to Rotts, he simply put them in the same category. They are both deemed aggressive breeds and the top two dog breeds that cause human fatalities so they are usually mentioned in the same breath when talking about breed legislation.

Now whose fault is this? The idiot who owns the damned dog since if their relatives OBVIOUSLY aren’t a dog owning persons it was bound to happen.

This is why when my in laws come over I put my American Bulldog locked so that when they open the door, she doesn’t bolt out of my door into my FENCED backyard. I also have baby gates at the top of the stairs & I never let them open the door without me having a hold of the dog. They are slow, old, fat people that happen to hate her in particular even though they do not feed, clean or deal with her in a regular basis.

They don’t have to like my dog, but they sure as hell don’t have to whine & complaint about her being in our house since my husband leaves in the middle of the night & who stays & makes us all feel safe? 77lb. dumbass Pringles.

My cousin’s girlfriend had a 21yrs old daughter who moved in with a room mate. The room mate had 2 pittbulls and some puppies. Anywho, Jennifer bathed them and they even slept with her sometimes. Then one morning her neighbor heard screaming coming from their house and called police. The police took their time getting there. Those dogs tore her APART. They tore her arms off! Most people don’t know that, because they didn’t state it in the news. Never shown her any signs of aggression before.

Because those aren’t reported as ‘golden retriever mauls baby’ or ‘lab bites teen boy, requires 15 stitches to repair’. They’re reported as ‘dog bites baby,’ where the breed of dog is never mentioned.

Because I’m lazy, I’ll just say to search the other dog bite articles here at Dreamin’ Demon – I’ve already posted links to sites that show that loving labs and goldens are responsible for the most dog bites in the USA, and that EVERY breed of dog has bites/mauls/kills on its records. Pits are singled out owing to their high numbers and popularity with people who don’t put them through proper obedience schooling and don’t post humans as the ‘alpha’ creature in their household, spoiling the animal and letting it dominate their home rather than creating a healthy ‘I am the alpha, you are not’ environment to keep the dog in-line. Also the fact that they have the capacity to kill with their jaw strength and tenacity (unlike weiner dogs, which can simply nibble your lovin’ genitalia off) puts them on many people’s ‘ban this breed’ list.

Please do your research before you make statements like this.

Cool kid/hero – saving those kids from an attacking dog! Which is really the point of the story isn’t it? Who cares what kind of dog it was – dogs bite – all dogs bite and sometimes they kill too – I think it is awesome to read about a teenager who acted selflessly to help neighborhood kids from a potentially fatal dog attack – it was a very brave and heroic thing to do. On a side note, I am surprised that Morbid brought us this bit of warm n fuzzy news article.

Pits aren’t born vicious (I have one), so I blame the owners. For this dude to say they should ban Pits and Rotts is like saying “let’s ban blacks and hispanics from the neighborhood.” He’s just stereotyping the breed.

You need to look why these dogs where bred in the first place. They weren’t bred to be the friendly family dog, they were bred to be aggressive. Granted, they can be trained to be a family dog but the fact remains that this wasn’t what this breed what created for.

The owners at our fault in this first place for owning a breed like a Pitbull and then for being irresponsible and stupid. Maybe if the threw the owners in jail, there would be less dog attacks? Comparing blacks and hispanics to pitbulls and rottweilers is offensive – did you mean it that way?

I have to agree with you, i have 2 dogs 1 corgi mix, 1 pit bull mix they have escaped from either mine or my families back yard numerous times. They just runs around pees and poos and never seek out people to bite.

Rotts aren’t born killers Morbid. I’ve owned 2 in my lifetime and grew up with one as a child. Rotts, just like any other dog can be trained to be aggressive, but they aren’t aggressive dogs in nature, and shouldn’t be put in the same category as a Pit Bull which is a born and bred fighter.

Dogs can’t be lumped together according to their breed, just like people can’t be lumped together according to their race or religion.
