I cannot fathom how a judge can look into a childs eyes, a child who has been raped or molested, and say ,you are nothing. Your fear, pain, self worth means nothing and you will not and cannot be protected because your abuser has more rights than you do. It galls me that laws have been made and remade in order to keep these predators away from our kids, yet they are rarely enforced. Its a joke to child molesters.

I don’t agree that most kids sexually violated as youths go on to sexually violate another child. Most of the people I know, became addicts and received harsh sentences, and all they harmed was themselves. I challenge you to get out some change, hot chocolate…and hit the streets of the nearest city and meet, help & communicate with the street people, the SRO room living people, the prostitutes, drug addicts….you’d see many of those people had their lives robbed of them as children, and the last thing they’d want to harm would be another child. I’ve found those types of people to have MORE compassion, empathy, even morals then the majority the “normal” people I’ve met throughout my life.

Well said Cara, I’ve handed out hot chocolate, sandwhiches and socks on many an occasion. I always had a group with me though, because you have people who are cold, desperate and dysfunctional and then you add mental illnesses , drugs and alchohol to the mix and a few of them become extremely dangerous. By the way I know quite a few people who were severely abused as children and are normal, loving people and are determined in every fiber in their being that no child should have to suffer how they did.

With that said, after being on this earth over half a century, I still don’t get it, why are some people just EVIL? And why can they live seemngly normal lives and then suddenly one day they crack and some some horrendous evil thing!?
