Man Shot Trying To Rob Rock Band Charged With Murder

ROCK HILL, SC — I was out yesterday doing things most handsome, rich people do on their Fridays off, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t checking out the latest news. So here are a few stories I would have posted yesterday had I been around. Starting with an update on the story we featured about the band who got into a shootout with a few armed robbers. For the link impaired, members of the band Parmalee were relaxing in their tour RV after a show at the The Money, when Dytavis Hinton and Demario Burris forced their way in armed with a gun and demanded cash. But drummer Scott Thomas pulled out a gun of his own and a shootout ensued. Thomas and Hinton were both wounded and taken to the hospital, but Burris was shot dead. Now Hinton has been charged with murder, attempted murder, burglary, attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. I can’t fault the robbers for picking this band because truthfully, if I were looking to score some easy money, a Puddle of Mudd cover band would be on the top of my list. But that’s what I get for stereotyping, I guess. Too bad these band members are so old, or this shooting my have actually given them a bit of street cred.

      I’m not sure what the rich do on Fridays, but I speak from experience (and modesty) when I say the good-looking people venture out to get the mail and scoop dog poop.

      I think this worked out great! Two go in to rob the band….one dies and the other is the one being charged with murder! I hope Thomas recovers..and Hinton, so that he can pay the piper.

      This makes me happy. It nice to see that someone exercised their right to bear arms and the bumbling burglar that survived is being charged with his murder. That’s a win-win if you ask me.

      @AMGallager…I couldn’t agree more. Its too bad that more criminals don’t have this experience. Almost better than the a$$hole who jumped in the garbage truck and got himself compacted.

      People put a band together, go out and do a gig, earn some money, and get robbed.

      Two thieves, no jobs, robs band and loses life and one goes to prison.

      I choose working for a living.

      Maybe I am slow today, or my meds are finally kicking in, but I need clarification. So one of the robbers shot the other and that’s why he is being charged with murder? Or did the drummer shoot the robber? I read it three times and am still so confused…………………

      I THINK that maybe Hinton is being charged with murder because he was perpetrating a violent crime when Burris got killed.
