Ronald Harris Jr. Set Fire To His Father

August 24, 2010 at 1:57 pm by

Davenport, FL – After an argument with his father over “material possessions” late Sunday evening, Ronald Harris Jr. reportedly set fire to the older man. According to police, Harris filled a glass with gasoline, threw it in his 58-year-old father’s face and ignited it. Witnesses report seeing the elder Harris, a Maryland pastor, running out of the house, engulfed in flames, screaming, My son did this to me!” A neighbor managed to douse the flames with a garden hose. Transported to the hospital with burns to 65% of his body, Ronald Harris Sr. died late Monday evening. The younger Harris was arrested early today. When taken into custody, he told investigators that he wanted to “blow the house up” and was “tired of his father wearing him down an being verbally abusive.” He admitted that he wanted to kill his father, but said he should have done so with a gun instead. Ronald Harris Jr., 37, has been charged with first-degree murder and arson. According to police, Harris Sr. lives full-time in Maryland but owns the Florida home his son had been living in. He had come to the house to remove some personal belongings.

What a dick. How could you do that to your own father, you shitheel? Hope you enjoy incarceration, peckerhead.

  • beatlechick

You mean to tell me that fuckstick's dad is only 58?! He looks 58!

  • cplpunishment

He should have known better than to go to Fl and remove anything, Obviously not a member of this site.

They need to put a big fence up around it and put big signs that read QUARANTINED!

    Horrible way to die.

  • SpitefulScorpio

It's sad… I live in Florida and I agree with you. I've been trying to get the hell out since I was a wee girl but for some reason I keep getting sucked back in.

  • SpitefulScorpio

What an awful fucking way to die.

  • guillotinegirl

So, can we just shoot him with a gun instead of making him go to trial? I don't want him to wear down the court or be verbally abusive.

I have personal knowledge him– and will say the father was a terribly abusive man. Two years ago, he was removed from his post as pastor of a Florida church for screaming at his board when financial issues were uncovered. His ministry license was revoked by his denomination for his abuses of power.

He was as crazy as his son. That being said– Nobody deserves to die this way.

You aint whistling Dixie, And to think this is the son of a Preacher. This preacher raised this guy from a wee little baby loving him all his life to be doused with gas and burned alive.

Mind Numbing to say the least. Very Very ironic that it happened in Fl.

    One of my worst nightmares.

Not saying he deserved to be set on fire, but the fact he is a pastor doesn't mean he was a good guy, or a loving father.

  • aka jas

I always think it is interesting when the most heinous individuals are masked by the titles given to them. Frightening.

  • cplpunishment

Yea to be burned alive by your son would be like a 12.5 on the richtor scale of suckassways to die!

  • aka jas

I hadn't ever thought about my son doing the igniting….that put it on a whole different spectrum. My children do not live in fear of me, nor do I of them. No worries in the long run. But whoa—yikes.

  • SpitefulScorpio

No worries. As soon as I can sell this house and finish school, I will do just that!

Thanks for adding some personal knowledge to the story. I for one always like to know about the personality of those involved as it gives a glimpse of the psychology involved into what happened.

  • headonapike

It's hard to say, Morbid. I was forced to go to church as a kid and remember one pastor that was very abusive. However, most of them I've run across were not at all. The fact that this man's grown son was living in one of daddy's houses, and the fact that dad was only coming over to get personal items only to be lit on fire speaks volumes to me. He is an ingrateful, worthless excuse for a son and should be locked up for the rest of his life at a minimum.

  • Peter4Peace

Seriously some people should have never been born. Much less be able to barbecue their dad. I dis-like my dad, but I would never make him suffer like this. Very sick. Way to go shit head.

The man accused of dousing his father with gasoline and then setting him on fire may have shown signs of mental illness long before he was accused of killing his father.

Public records obtained by 10 News show Ronald Harris Junior was accused of lighting three small fires inside the mental health facility filled with patients where he was staying back in September of 2009.

He was actually the nicest man i have ever met. he was my pastor in maryland from the time i was 6 until i was 14. he baptized me when i was 7 and sat in a hospital room with my when i was 9 and diagnosed with severe pnuemonia. his son is bipolar and was clearly not the good person. pastor ron did not deserve this at all.

  • Oboggs

excuse me? he was not kicked out of the florida church, new hope begged him to come back. his preaching license was not revoked he continued preaching in maryland.

  • caringsomeone

He too was my pastor from and early age until now and one of the nicest men you could ever meet. He was a true man of God and it now with him which brings little peace but at least some.

  • Godfearing

I know the pastor and his family personally. This is pure madness. Ron Jr. was always rebelling in some form or another. Bi-polar is not an excuse to do this the man who raised you. And was still supporting you by allowing you to live in the house. I mean come on he is 37 years old and still in their house. He will not only pay in this life but will have to answer to God. I pray for his brother and mother through this tragedy. I can’t imagine ever being able to look at my child again, God be with them.

I’ve known the Harris family for 17+ years and they are the nicest people you would ever want to meet. Working 24/7 in the church…doing everything humanly possible to promote and building the church. I knew Ron Harris, Jr. had issues with drinking but never iimagined that he was capable of such an act as setting his own father on fire.

I went to the memorial service held in Pastor Harris honor (today) and it was a nice tribute to him….hearing the comments made by family and friends. We just never know what families go through — including pastors. My prayers are with his wife and sons. God is able!

    “God is able!”

    To do what?

Now that adds a whole new dimension to this story. Why was his preaching license revoked in Maryland? For the same reasons that Josh Little described above? You have have to really screw up for something that like to happen; “men of god” typically are perceived by themselves and others in their midst to be above the bounds of human laws.

No one deserves to get burned alive. Period. Or otherwise murdered. But, wow, it sounds like the victim of this crime was a bit of an abusive ass. Granted, not as much of an abusive ass as his murdering son. The son wins the abusive ass award, hands down.

I wonder what to make of the victim providing his son with a place to live, if the victim was such an abusive ass as to have been essentially “disbarred” from preaching. It occurs to me that sometimes people are happy to have others dependent on them–makes dominating them a whole lot easier. (Not that this means they deserve to be killed. Obviously, they do not.)

His license was revoked by the Church of God in Florida after a dispute with the Church’s board.

He claimed he was in the hospital, while he was out church-shopping in MD on the Florida Church’s dime.

I am the other Son of Pastor Harris and this MoshJosh guy is so wrong for telling one side of the story! But he isn’t worth my breathe, this guy didn’t even go to the church in Florida one time, he is going on gossip. As we all know there are politics and games especially in churches. Secondly, Pastor Harris was not in Maryland shopping on the Florida churches dime that is so untrue lol I know because I was with Pastor while he was in the hospital. So you have a great day and God Bless

Pastor was a better man than anyone in that church and they wasted the best Pastor they every could have had! I feel sorry for them.

Pastor Harris turned in his license because he was tired of people like MoshJosh. The church lied many times and we were tired of hypocrites. People need to learn not to talk about things they don’t understand or know the whole story.
